Affinity:Chaos - Chapter 1599: Where’s Your Puppet?
The Fourth Prince felt rage when he heard Klaus’ words, he was still contemplating if they were the people he thought they were. Even though it doesn’t seem likely, it does look like it. The only thing making him doubt it was due to the hatred his younger brother has for Grey. Grey has traumatized his younger brother to the extent that his cultivation even slowed down at a point in his life, this should tell one just how much Grey’s victory left the Seventh Prince.
The Fourth Prince doesn’t believe his younger brother would be willing to work with someone like that just because he wants to become the only heir to the throne. So even though Klaus and Reynolds were showing attributes of Grey’s famous genius friends, he was very skeptical about them being the same people.
Klaus looked at the Fourth Prince who was deep in thought, “If you still believe that guy will come here, then you’re dumber than I thought you were.”
The Fourth Prince snorted and guarded the Gnome who was behind him and his puppet. The Gnome’s puppet was also close to him. The puppet has lost an arm. Even being attacked by two puppets, Klaus was still able to injure one of them.
Unlike humans, the puppet wouldn’t have to worry about its fighting ability plummeting after losing an arm. Since it can’t feel pain, it could still fight with its full strength.
“Don’t let that guy recover enough. He’s rested enough.” Klaus attacked with an ice needle.
The speed of the attack was shocking, but the Gnome reacted quickly, placing his puppet in front of him.
The ice needle pierced through the puppet, but it was unable to go through and touch the Gnome. The puppet was frozen solid from the inside, and before the Gnome could help it out, it shattered after dropping its foot on the ground.
The Fourth Prince took a look at Klaus, a little apprehensive. The attack Klaus used just now was too deadly, even he didn’t sense it quickly until it was too late. If the attack was aimed at him, he would’ve sacrificed his puppet as well. With his puppet gone, his attack power would decrease, meaning they would be in danger.
‘Come soon Old man Kerr.’
This was the only thought in the head of the Fourth Prince, he had seen the situation, and knew their chances of defeating the duo in front of him was almost nonexistent. He was confident, but against these two, he didn’t believe they could do it, especially with one of the Gnomes dead, and the other fatally wounded by Klaus.
‘I should’ve never allowed them to fight him alone.’ The Fourth Prince started to feel regret. If he had joined the battle sooner, he wouldn’t have made the move he made on Klaus, and the duo would’ve been alive.
Losing one Sovereign was detrimental to his chances. He will find it hard to recruit more Sovereigns after losing two in a single day. If Old man Kerr was seriously wounded in the process, that would make it even worse.
‘I’ll kill all of them.’ He felt unbridled fury towards his younger brother who brought these monsters into the Palace in the first place.
If his younger brother hadn’t brought them into the Palace, they wouldn’t have attacked him.
Klaus and Reynolds attacked, not giving him the time to continue with his train of thoughts.
….
While the Fourth Prince was patiently waiting for the Old man. The Old man was busy entangled with Grey.
Boom! Bang! Bam!
The Old man’s strength spiked, and he was able to quickly overpower Grey. The spike in the strength of the Old man wasn’t expected by Grey, he focused on defending, while making use of his superior speed to keep a good distance from the Old man. He knew the Old man will only be able to keep this state active for a few minutes, all he needs to do is to stall and he will be able to kill the man when he is at his weakest.
The Old man knew the situation he was presently in, so he tried to attack Grey quickly, but Grey was too elusive, no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t get a hold of him.
As time went on, he started to get frustrated from his inability to strike Grey down. Grey has dodged almost every move he threw at him. If his puppet was still present, it would’ve been able to keep Grey in the same position long enough for him to attack, but Grey destroyed the puppet from the get-go, making life hard for the Old man.
‘I can’t believe I can’t beat a little kid.’
The Old man was starting to realize Grey isn’t so simple. Anyone able to go toe to toe with him while being two stages lower, and still not bringing out his puppet isn’t someone he could beat.
Thinking about it, he found one thing strange.
‘How come he hasn’t brought out his puppet yet?’
The Old man thought Grey was confident at the start, but now Grey was being overpowered and had to rely heavily on his speed. If the Old man was the one in his position, he would definitely use his puppet to relieve some of the pressure from himself, however, Grey was not attempting to do that.
“Boy, where’s your puppet?” The Old man asked in a deep voice.
He didn’t stop attacking, but he wanted to know the answer to that question and couldn’t help but ask.
“What does my puppet have to do with you? Didn’t I survive that old fool’s attack? How did you think I did it?” Grey asked a series of questions, but in truth, he didn’t want to alert the Old man that he wasn’t able to use a puppet. There’s no guarantee that they couldn’t secretly relay information to others. If others find out they attacked the Fourth Prince’s people, they would only question the Seventh Prince’s audacity, however, if they find out Grey and his friends aren’t Necromancers, they will be attacked by everyone in the Gnome world.
