Affinity:Chaos - Chapter 1604: Going For Separate Missions
“Haha, I thought you’d never ask. Finally, some great action!” Klaus was excited when he heard Grey’s words. This was the best way for him to cause more mayhem, and maybe see some good treasures that will make him grow faster.
Reynolds was also excited, although they wouldn’t have the fight people that were on equal footing, they had the chance to squash people which was a good thing for them, at least they will be able to greatly decrease the overall military strength of the Gnome race.
“What about me?” Alice asked with a curious expression, since Klaus and Reynolds were going to have fun, she felt she should also have something to do as well.
“I don’t know yet, maybe you’ll be the one to handle the Sixth Prince. Just kill him.” Grey said.
The Fourth Prince went over to the Sixth Prince’s kingdom to get some valuable information, and Grey didn’t think the Sixth Prince was worth leaving alive, so he wanted to kill him, but using the Fourth Prince was a little too much, it was best Alice got something entertaining to do.
“Alright, I’ll do just that.” Alice replied, and without a second word, the trio left. They each had a map of the Gnome world and knew the general direction of things. Besides, they’ve been to the kingdoms and knew where they were located without the use of a map.
The Fourth Prince has already returned to his kingdom, awaiting for Klaus or Reynolds to come so they could wage war against the Fifth Prince.
The Fifth Prince is said to be very short tempered, so Grey wanted to make sure there was a reasonable ground for the battle to erupt. Hence his plan was to assassinate someone from the Fifth Prince’s faction, someone that isn’t important, but given the Fifth Prince’s nature, it’ll only be natural that he wouldn’t take this lying.
Grey decided to rest in the Seventh Prince’s kingdom, he wanted to wait until the commotion had started before sneaking into the Third Prince’s kingdom. With all the commotion, it would be difficult for anyone to sense him as he enters the Third Prince’s kingdom and deals with him.
A week went by and Klaus and Reynolds finally arrived at their respective destinations. Klaus went over to the Fourth Prince’s side, while Reynolds teamed up with the Fifth Prince. There was a First stage Sovereign in the Fifth Prince’s side, and with Reynolds joining him, there would be two First stage Sovereigns. Klaus and the Fourth Prince were First stage Sovereigns as well, but the Fourth Prince couldn’t be killed. That can’t be said for the man in the Fifth Prince’s kingdom, hence the reason Klaus chose to be with the Fourth Prince.
After two days, one of the Fifth Prince’s favorite servant girl was killed in the castle. All the traces pointed to the Fourth Prince as this lady was sent there the previous day to deliver a message. According to the Fifth Prince, the Fourth Prince fell in love with the lady the moment he laid his eyes on her and tried to keep her there, but she refused. So the Fourth Prince decided to kill her.
….
“Your Highness, waging war with the Prince isn’t a wise choice, we will only lose more people.” An elderly man who could barely stand without the aid of a staff advised the Fifth Prince against going to war.
“Yes your Highness, just let this go.” Another Elder in the Hall said.
The Fifth Prince looked at them, “You all are a bunch of cowards! How will I be able to become Emperor if these are the people I have under me?”
He turned to a figure wearing a black cloak beside him, “What about you, do you wish to advise me against this war too?”
The black cloaked figure bowed slightly and replied with a deep voice, “Whatever His Highness decides, I’ll accept it.”
“Fine, war it is then. Get ready, I need to let the others know I’m not one to be trifled with.” The Fifth Prince nodded in approval, pleased with the black cloaked figure’s reply.
The Fifth Prince walked away from the room, and the Elders, as well as the black cloaked figure were left standing there alone.
“Why didn’t you advise him against it?” One of the elders asked, he was dressed in some armor, a sign of being part of the kingdom’s army.
“My job is to support His Highness, and I’ll do that to the best of my ability. As long as it’s not something that will put His Highness’ life in danger, I’ll support him. And even if it puts his life in danger, I’ll make sure he survives it, even if it means I have to die.” The black cloaked figure replied calmly, he didn’t rush while speaking, exuding immeasurable confidence.
The elders looked at each other and shook their heads, they felt impressed at the cloaked figure’s dedication to the Fifth Prince, however, they still felt that it was a wrong move to fight over a mere servant.
“I want your sincere answer, do you think it’s wise to wage war against the Fourth Prince for a servant?” The Elder using the staff for support asked the cloaked figure.
“It doesn’t matter whether I think it’s wise or not. My opinion matters little in the grand scheme of things, I’m here to support and ensure the safety of His Highness, nothing more.” The cloaked figure spoke in a calm manner once again.
The Old man with the staff looked at the cloaked figure, from the way he speaks and his mannerisms, he could tell that he was an intelligent individual, but he was loyal to a fault, which in this case is not what is needed. Unfortunately, he was recruited by the Fifth Prince recently.
The cloaked figure was about to step out when someone blocked his path, it was an Elder, he gave him a strange look and said, “Take off your cloak, I want to see what is hidden beneath it.”
Klaus looked at the Elder with a calm body language, “I’m sorry, but as per His Highness’ request, I’m not allowed to let anyone else see my face.”
“His Highness is not here, and in his absence, I’m in charge.” The Elder took a step forward and tried to grab the cloaked figure’s cloak.
The cloaked figure didn’t respond, as soon as the hands got too close, with a lightning fast move, the arm of the Elder was sliced clean off from his shoulder. The speed of the attack was incomprehensible to the others, even to the Elder as well.
When the Elder’s arm fell to the ground, silence cascaded the Hall, the others couldn’t believe their eyes. This was a Sovereign Plane Gnome, yet he was attacked without being able to even retaliate. The fact that the Elder wasn’t able to retaliate showed that the gap in strength was massive.
The cloaked figure’s aura suddenly turned menacing and he asked, “Are you planning to go against the wishes of His Highness? If so, I do not think he has any uses for people like you.”
When the others heard these words, they knew it was nothing more than a death sentence. If news of the Elder going against the Fifth Prince’s orders reaches the Palace, the Elder was as good as dead. Even with the person standing before him, his chances of fighting back were almost nonexistent.
“I’ll never go against the wishes of His Highness.” The Elder bowed quickly, in the face of strength, even someone as old as he is will have to bow to the stronger party, even if said person is hundreds of years younger than he is.
The menacing aura of the cloaked figure disappeared like it never appeared, and the figure said, “You can reattach your arm since it hasn’t been too long.”
With those words, the figure walked out of the place.
The Hall was still deathly silent, only after a minute did someone take in a deep breath, it was as if he had been holding his breath all this while, and now, he finally had the guts to breathe.
“Where did His Highness pick up such a powerhouse?” An Elder asked fearfully.
“I wasn’t able to even sense his cultivation stage, even when he attacked. He’s at least in the Third stage.” The Elder whose arm was cut off said.
Among everyone there, he was the strongest person, yet he didn’t sense the cultivation stage of the person. In the Sovereign Plane, to the normal person, the gap in strength between a single stage was massive, but to Grey and his friends, it was almost nonexistent. They could battle with people a stage or even two ahead of them. Just this alone shows just how impressive of a feat it is. Of course, there are also people like the Fourth and Seventh Princes, as well as a few more talented people who could almost achieve something like that.
