Affinity:Chaos - Chapter 1629: Training In The Poison Miasma
In the poison miasma.
Grey had already gone over two kilometers inside the miasma, the further he walks in, the stronger the poison miasma becomes. At the moment he could still very much deal with it.
“Huh?” He opened his eyes to look into the miasma, he sensed something, a movement to be precise. He has been here for a few hours now and he didn’t expect to find any lifeforms here. ‘Could I be overthinking?’ Grey thought after not being able to sense the presence of the lifeform which he felt he sensed the movements from. After looking around for a while, he closed his eyes and continued his training, still making sure to keep his senses sharp, taking in every detail around him in case of any danger. Deep in the miasma, even though everywhere was dark, one could slightly hear the sound of something moving on the ground. The glowing eyes snapped open as they looked in the direction of where Grey was training. ….
Three hours later. Grey opened his eyes and felt that he has gotten a good feel of this place and it was time to head deeper. From his calculations, he could tell that he was getting closer to the center of the miasma. At the moment, his skin was well intact, even though he was getting battered by the poison miasma, he was healing at a rapid pace. ‘My healing ability has gotten higher.’ Grey wasn’t using his light element, this was purely from his physical body’s regenerative ability. As an Elementalist, one’s body will grow to an extent where the regenerative ability could be said to be terrifying. Of course, most people only get to the level when they’ve gotten to the Half God Plane or the God Plane. But Grey is already able to use it now due to his shockingly powerful physique. With this ability, Grey knew that his survival rate had gone up. But it still isn’t enough, his physical body has only made the increment to what could be said to be the peak of the First stage. Although he gained this monstrous increase in the regenerative ability of his body, it was purely due to the fact that his body was going through a constant tear and wear process. Luckily he has been taking his time as he moves deeper into the miasma, if he had rushed to this level at the start, he would’ve never have been able to gain this much. Just as Grey was about to take another step, he paused and his expression changed softly. He sensed the movements once again, even though it was for a slight moment, he sensed it. He knew one thing for sure, there was no way he could make a mistake like this twice. ‘There’s something here.’ The moment his head processed this, his heart started to race as he retreated without hesitation. The danger in this place is too much for him to be careless. He couldn’t sense the cultivation realm of whatever was here, and if he were to carelessly venture into the territory of a Peak Sovereign Plane Magical Beast, he is as good as dead. There are few things that can help him out, and given the fact that he was in a place where he couldn’t afford to expose his identity, it was best he retreated. Boom! Grey was retreating when he suddenly stopped and moved forward. The sound of something slamming the ground was heard just behind the place Grey was supposed to head in. The sound quickly faded into the darkness. It was as if there was no room for anything else other than the darkness, even sound was corroded by the miasma. Grey’s eyes turned sharp, he realized he was not the only thing here, and compared to what else was here, he didn’t have the ability to see anything more than ten meters or so around him. ‘This is bad, I have to leave.’
He didn’t think of staying here any longer, although he wanted to move deeper and further strengthen his body and consciousness, he didn’t dare to take the risk of staying here while he didn’t know the danger that was here. There’s no certainty that what attacked is weaker or stronger than he is. Since he didn’t know the strength of what or who attacked him, he didn’t dare to stay.
Grey planted his feet on the ground, and after placing enough force in his legs, he burst out with a shocking force and his body, like a jet shot straight in the direction he came into the place. But he was forced to stop when he sensed attacks coming from ahead of him. He didn’t stop for too long as he continued to move forward while dodging the attacks, but the speed and force of the attacks started to increase, and before long, Grey was struck head-on by one of the attacks. He felt his entire body shake when he was hit by the attack, and his body was sent flying back into the miasma. At the time he was struck, he was already at the edge of the miasma, on the verge of leaving the place. He crashed into the ground, and his eyes turned cold. Blood was on the side of his mouth, but he didn’t care about that right now, he wanted to leave. Without any hesitation, he bolted for the exit once again. Flying up was out of the picture. It was already dangerous as it is, he didn’t know if there were any restrictions in this place that would stop him from flying, or if what was attacking him was attacking from above. If he were to fly up and accidentally meet with it, it would be even more disastrous. Boom! Bam! Bang! Grey was sent back from an attack, this time he didn’t even get the chance to get close to the edge of the miasma. The more he attempted to leave, the more he was forced back into the miasma. It was as if what was attacking didn’t want him to leave. Not just that, but occasionally, he would be attacked even before he made a move. ‘Damn it!’
Grey was feeling tremendous pains at the moment from the attacks, and he didn’t even have the strength to fight back. He tried to use his elemental essence, and to his greatest shock, he couldn’t. The second he tried to use it, it would be sucked out of his body.
‘What’s going on?’
This was the only thought in Grey’s head. ….
While Grey was fighting for a way to exit the miasma, his friends were still resting, oblivious to the fact that Grey was fighting for his life. To them, he was still training there and since they couldn’t train there, there was no point in them even attempting to go there. They were a few mountains away from the mountain the treasure is supposedly going to be born, and since Grey isn’t present, there was nothing they could do.
“Why don’t we go to another mountain? Maybe there’s something good for us there?” Klaus suggested. Originally, he wanted to stay back, but after a while, he became bored. There was nothing to do here, and Grey was still training. And knowing Grey, they all knew that he always gets engrossed in his cultivation once he starts. The others thought about it, and realizing that Grey might not be coming out as soon as they thought he would, they didn’t mind the idea of exploring another mountain. The trio, under the guidance of the bunny leader, were able to move to an island that didn’t have Gnomes in it. Other than Magical Beasts, the bunny leader didn’t find any Gnomes there.
The group explored the place, searching for anything that might catch their eyes. ….
While the trio were somewhat enjoying their time outside, Grey was still in a tight spot. He wasn’t able to retreat, and heading forward, he could not only sense the formidable presence of the miasma getting stronger, he could also feel a powerful gaze locked on him, prepared to strike the moment he makes a move. ‘What’s that? It’s clearly stronger than I am.’ Grey calculated the situation at a fast pace, trying to see if there’s anyway he could figure out what was happening. Whatever was attacking him clearly didn’t want him to leave the place. Not knowing the intention of his attacker made him worried. He took a step forward, and sensed an attack. Without hesitation, he retreated, but was once again met with another attack. ‘Damn it!’
He was slowly starting to get frustrated, and without a second thought, he planted his left foot on the ground, his wind, lightning, and light element came to play, and adding the force of his physical body, he bolted straight into the miasma. He noticed his attacker was a bit slower when attacking if he advanced, so he wanted to take the gamble of heading deeper at a fast speed. Take the risk to go in, and try to exit just as quickly.
