Affinity:Chaos - Chapter 1634: A Simple Nudge
Grey studied the properties of the flower while the others focused on breaking through. This was a good opportunity for them, so it would be a waste to not take it. Unlike Grey’s situation when he broke through without him making too much effort, in the case of Klaus and the others, they could sense that they were close to breaking through after eating the Squid, so they took advantage of the chance. ….
A few hours went by and the trio finally completed their breakthrough. Klaus was the last to breakthrough since he was the one with a higher cultivation stage. When he returned, Reynolds gave him a mocking smile and said, “We’ve been done for about an hour now, looks like your talent is lacking, you should work more.”
“According to your logic, doesn’t that mean Grey has the worst talent among us? I mean, he sort of spent an entire day just breaking through to the Third stage, something I did within a few hours.” Klaus’s response stumped Reynolds as he couldn’t reply to it. It was one thing saying he was more talented than Klaus, but Grey, he didn’t even dare to think about it, none of them dared to say they were more talented than Grey. This is someone who started cultivating three years after they started, yet he has not only caught up to them, but he has also surpassed them by a landslide. Their cultivation stage might be close, but in terms of strength, Grey was way ahead of them. At least, none of them present could confidently say they can defeat someone more than two stages ahead of them. Even those two stages above them are very difficult to deal with, and it’s all up to luck if they do manage to defeat them. Grey on the other hand can achieve this with some effort, and it’s something they are all certain of. Alice laughed when she heard this, “I still don’t know why you keep picking a fight with him when you know you clearly cannot win.”
Reynolds was talented, but it was only when it came to cultivating and fighting, Klaus on the other hand was not just talented in both, he was also an expert with words. He could literally make people go crazy without even lifting a finger. The ability to achieve such a feat is almost beyond outstanding.
“What now?” Klaus asked, after putting Reynolds in his place.
“We originally came here for a mission, it’s time to achieve it.” Grey looked in the direction of the island where the treasure the Second Prince was waiting for was growing. Even from this distance, they could slightly sense the aura of the treasure. If Grey had not been in trouble, they wouldn’t have spent this much time here. From what Grey could tell according to the bunny leader’s information, the treasure will be ready in a week or two.
“Alright, let’s go then.” Alice said. Grey nodded and the group headed in the direction of the island.
“By the way, what got you in that state?” Alice couldn’t help but ask. Due to Grey breaking through and also preparing a meal for them, it slipped her mind, now that they were somewhat free, she remembered. Grey’s expression changed slightly as he said, “I was attacked by a creature staying in there. I didn’t get the chance to see it properly, but it seems to have adapted to living inside the miasma.”
“I see. To think there are creatures this unique.” Alice commented, stunned by the information. Any miasma is dangerous, much less something like this. She has seen a few miasma, and none of them made her feel as much dread as this one. Just staring at it made her feel like her mind was being corroded.
“Do you have any plans of heading there for revenge?” Klaus asked while rubbing his hands together. He went back to the Squid for revenge after he was almost killed by it previously, and they cooked it. He couldn’t help but wonder if Grey wanted the same thing. He didn’t have any thoughts of eating this one though, after all, this was something that would’ve gathered a lot of miasma in its body, he didn’t believe it’s safe to eat it. Grey gave the bunny leader a glance, and the bunny leader sensed it. The bunny leader overheard their conversation, but he didn’t understand the reason Grey has been staring at him as if he wanted to get revenge against him since he finished healing.
“Not now, maybe sometime in the future.” He replied and the group continued their journey to the island. ….
On the island where the treasure was about to be born. A lot of experts were camping around the place. Most of them were hiding, but it wasn’t hard for the bunny leader to point out their locations to Grey. With the bunny leader’s help, Grey and the group managed to easily pass through all the experts that were camped there. They knew that getting involved with these people now was too dangerous. They found a place to hide and Grey continued on his own. He had a better chance of escaping when he was alone, so he told the others to stay there while he went with the bunny leader. Void was left with them as a means of escaping and quickly contacting Grey and the bunny leader in case of any dangers. Grey and the bunny leader soon got to the place. He could sense the gazes on him, but he didn’t care.
“His Highness said feeding this thing with some treasures will make it fully develop before the supposed time.” He murmured in a soft manner, but in a way those watching would know who sent him, while also wearing the insignia of the Second Prince.
He brought out a few treasures that were given to him by the Second Prince and started to crush them, forcing the essence into the tree that was before him. He didn’t expect such a tree to be a treasure. The tree didn’t have any leaves, nor were there any fruits, rather, he could sense the treasure within the body of the tree. The tree covered the treasure in such a way that it was able to block most of the aura of the treasure. If not for this tree, more people would’ve sensed the presence of such a treasure by now. After Grey was done, he didn’t think too much and retreated, but he didn’t go too far. He sat down cross-legged and waited patiently. ….
The next day, he walked up to the tree and did the same. While he was doing it, he saw a change in the tree but it stopped abruptly. Even after putting more treasure he didn’t see the same reaction. He couldn’t help but sigh in disappointment.
“If only the Second Prince gave me more treasures I wouldn’t have to wait here for any longer.” His words made the eyes of those waiting in the shadows light up. This was the chance they needed. None of them had thought of feeding the tree the essence of other treasures, so it’s natural that after being given the nudge by Grey, they wanted to try it out almost immediately. They’ve been here for a long period now just monitoring this tree. As long as they could get the treasure, then it was all worth it. When these people saw Grey’s clothing, they knew he was sent here by the Second Prince, but they didn’t care about offending the Second Prince for this treasure. As long as Grey didn’t leave this place, they didn’t have any fears. There’s no way the Second Prince would know who did it. Since this isn’t being handled by the Emperor’s personnels meant that the Second Prince kept this from the Emperor. The Emperor would be infuriated by the Second Prince’s actions if he finds out. ‘The Second Prince can’t expose me, and as long as I’m strong enough, the Emperor will not want to lose such an expert. Hehe, the little Prince just blasted himself on the foot.’ This was the thought of the other parties present. They knew how obsessive the Emperor was about acquiring top treasures on such a scale, and they also knew how he wanted to build a large group of experts with him. If the Second Prince exposed this, there’s a high chance the Emperor will severely punish him. If he didn’t, he can’t threaten the person who takes it since he wouldn’t have a clue who the person is. Whoever the person is can just hide and then come out years later when he’s strong enough to the point where the Emperor wouldn’t want to offend them due to their strength. As powerful as the Emperor and those under him are, they wouldn’t want to offend a Half God expert, even when he has multiple Half God experts himself.
