After Cultivating With the Enemy - CH 19.2
Xu Zixing finally couldn’t hide the fear on his face, and he hurriedly took a step forward. “No, I can’t be kicked out of the academy. Ji Chaoyun, you—”
Before he could finish speaking,an unexpected faint echo sounded from beneath his feet.
Their expressions changed instantly.
In the next second, the ground beneath Xu Zixing sank without warning. He stepped in the air, but before he could make any sound, he stumbled and fell.
“…” Ji Chaoyun silently looked at the cave in front of him, sensing the unusual evil spirit rushing towards him with a hint of hesitation in his eyes.
This should be what Feng Qi had told him about— the mysterious area where the ferocious beast lurked.
There were five ferocious beasts in the secret realm, each of their deaths with a value of ten points. These kinds of beasts were extremely powerful, and it would take four to five people to kill one. Therefore, once a disciple discovered the location of a ferocious beast, they would usually send a signal to notify others.
But…
Ji Chaoyun opened the scoring list, counting the points he’d taken from Xu Zixing just now. His current score was 12, ranking 30th.
It was too low.
A faint light flashed in Ji Chaoyun’s eyes, and he made a decision right then and there.
He put away the scoreboard and jumped into the cave.
The ground returned to its original state after he entered, and there was no trace of its existence.
It was extremely dark inside. Ji Chaoyun quietly landed on the ground, and in front of him was a long and narrow corridor. At the end of it was a stone cave, and before it was Xu Zixing, looking carefully within.
Ji Chaoyun walked over, raised his hand and patted the other’s shoulder. “Hey.”
“Shh!” Xu Zixing lowered his voice. “It’s a black-spotted python. Don’t wake it up. How many people did you bring in—”
He turned around, yet only saw Ji Chaoyun alone behind him.
Xu Zixing froze. A long time passed before he questioned in surprise, “You… you came in alone?”
“Yes,” Ji Chaoyun said lightly. “Xu Zixing, let’s make a deal.”
The cave was dark and damp, and a giant python was lying on the flat ground deep in its depths, sleeping lightly.
Ji Chaoyun and Xu Zixing walked forward quietly. The latter whispered, “Ji Chaoyun, think about it once more. We have to send a distress signal. How could you and I, the two of us, be able to fight—”
Ji Chaoyun threatened in a low voice, “If you dare to notify anyone, I will reveal about your cheating and harming me.”
“…” Xu Zixing was speechless. After a while, he murmured, “Really a lunatic…”
Ji Chaoyun’s current ranking was too low; he dared not rashly signal and give the chance to score to any Yellow-level disciple. However, the Black-level and the Yellow-level results were ranked separately. This cooperation with Xu Zixing was his best choice.
Ji Chaoyun asked, “Do you remember what I just told you?”
“I remember,” Xu Zixing replied with a headache. “The black python is afraid of fire. First destroy its eyes with it, then let you engage it in battle, after which I will pierce its heart core, right?”
Ji Chaoyun: “Good that you remember. We only have one chance.”
“Of course I know, the question is how you’ll deal with—”
Before he finished speaking, Ji Chaoyun raised his hand and threw out two talismans.
The talismans exploded the moment they touched the black python’s pupils, burning them up. The beast screamed in pain, its body rolling and entangling when its tail suddenly slammed against the stone wall, causing the entire cave to shake wildly.
Ji Chaoyun stepped forward, pulled out his sword and stabbed the black python’s head with force.
But this black python was covered in hard scales, and Ji Chaoyun’s attack, despite all his strength, did not hurt it at all, but was instead thrown out by the opponent’s violent struggle. Ji Chaoyun’s back slammed onto the stone wall, and an intense pain engulfed him. He slightly blacked out, unable to see the sight in front of him.
Xu Zixing loudly scolded, “I’ve told you that you can’t do it. Based on your cultivation level—”
His voice stopped abruptly as the black python’s struggle ceased.
It was startled by the voice, raised its head and turned towards Xu Zixing’s direction. The fire in its eyes subsided, leaving only two cauterized holes, which looked extraordinarily eerie and terrifying.
One person and one python looked at each other. Xu Zixing was seemingly pinned to the spot by some force, a layer of cold sweat forming on his back.
The black python opened its jaws, let out a roar and immediately rushed towards him!
At that moment, Xu Zixing even sensed the stench of hot breath from the black python’s mouth. Yet the expected pain did not come; Xu Zixing looked at the giant python that was close at hand, almost swallowing him up, before he realized something.
He tilted his head to look. Ji Chaoyun was standing in the depths of the cave, his hands tightly clutching the tail of the black python, his pair of vertical pupils as transparent as a ceramic glaze.
In the next second, his appearance changed.
The silver dragon scales quickly covered Ji Chaoyun’s skin, and a dragon tail stretched out from behind him, coiling tightly around the black python’s body. His body changed rapidly in the dazzling silver light, extending as his clothes fell to the ground.
After the brightness faded, a slender and mighty silver dragon was revealed.
The scales were crystal clear and glowed with a dazzling silvery sheen, its body slender, and the tail tightly wrapped around the black python’s body.
One dragon and one python were closely entangled. The latter kept rolling over in severe pain, but it couldn’t escape the restraint no matter what.
Xu Zixing stared blankly at the scene in front of him, and even his breathing almost stopped.
This was… Ji Chaoyun?
“What are you doing?” Ji Chaoyun’s voice sounded as the silver dragon grabbed the struggling python’s head and lifted it up, revealing the weakness hidden amidst the scales. “Attack it. Pierce it seven inches deep. Hurry!”
Xu Zixing sobered up, took out his sword and jumped, the blade instantly impaling the beast’s body.
The black python let out a painful roar, and under the hold of the silver dragon, finally stopped moving.
“Is… is it dead?” Xu Zixing asked in a trembling voice.
The silver dragon maintained his hold and didn’t move. Xu Zixing opened the scoreboard and saw that both of their scores had indeed increased by ten points at the same time. “Look, we succeeded, we—”
“Xu Zixing.” Ji Chaoyun’s voice was a little hoarse, as if he was suppressing something. “You go out first.”
“Why are you…”
“Go out!” Ji Chaoyun shouted angrily.
Along with the sound of the dragon’s roar, Xu Zixing stopped moving closer. In front of the real deal, even if a person’s cultivation base was not low, the pressure of a real dragon was still terrifyingly strong.
Xu Zixing unconsciously swallowed, and he hesitantly gazed at the silver dragon lurking in the depths of the cave. A long time passed before he said, “In any case, thank you for saving my life.”
Ji Chaoyun did not answer.
“…I’m sorry for what happened before. When I head out of here, I will admit it even if you don’t intend to reveal my wrongdoings.”
After Xu Zixing finished speaking, he turned around and left.
The sound of footsteps disappeared, and the tense body of the silver dragon finally relaxed. With a flick of his tail, he threw the black python’s corpse into a corner of the cave, and then turned back into a human body.
Ji Chaoyun picked up a piece of clothing and draped it over his body. This action seemed to consume the last of his strength, and he fell to his knees, slowly curling up on the cold ground, his face flushed abnormally.
So hot…
The Dragon Clan would regularly have a heat period. Perhaps he had been overextending himself, for Ji Chaoyun didn’t notice it beforehand. It was not until entering the secret realm that he found out his heat had come earlier.
During these past few hours, he’d forcibly suppressed his cultivation. If there were no accidents, he should be able to last until the end of the assessment.
But in order to deal with this black python, he had to show his true form.
The abnormality of it could no longer be restrained under the rapid consumption of spiritual power. Ji Chaoyun’s consciousness gradually became chaotic, and he was engulfed by the surging tide of passion.
While in a trance, a golden light flew out from the clothes scattered on the ground, and turned into a slender figure in front of him.1Bubbles: omg r they going to papapapapap omg omg pls pls yes
The image before Ji Chaoyun was fuzzy. He called out a name in a low voice, “Feng… Feng Xiao.”
