Agartha Quest For The Legacy - Chapter 36 Poison
Soon a person came in bringing four sets of coffee cups with various snacks. The Retired General eyed the man and noticed an anomaly. But he didn’t say anything and let him pour the coffee. What he saw next amazed him.
The man poured the coffee and from his peripheral vision he saw that the man took out a silver needle from his sleeve and inserted something into the coffee. He smiled in spite of himself. ‘Did they take him as a joke? So, this old man has some enmities with Lady Hudon. But why?’ He thought that the man in front of him looked like this to gain sympathy while stabbing at the back.
Years ago, that person did the same. He gained his trust before stabbing him at the back. He gently massaged his chest as the numb feeling grew more and more. He absentmindedly brought the coffee cup to his lips before placing it down on the desk.
“What happened General?”
“Huh? Nothing. I was just curious about something.” The Retired General absentmindedly added.
The Dean, Mr. Collen looked the Retired General before he took his phone and clicked on it. Amelia and Brad were the ones who noticed the behavior of the Dean. They felt that something was amiss. They looked at the Retired General, who was writing something on the palm of his hand with a pen. On it was written, “DON’T DRINK THE COFFEE.”
Amelia and Brad eyed each other. On the other hand, Olympia sniffed around and the strong sense of poison invaded her nostrils, and she knew that this came from those people. Those were the strongest in the mainland, because they used to use this lethal poison, but why will they appear in the mainland. She eyed the ‘Dean’, or that’s what Brad calls him. She would love to call him an idiot.
Brad felt the anxiousness of Olympia and closed his eyes before he asked, “What happened?”
“Brad, there is something strange with this man.”
“Strange as in?”
“There is a poison in that brown water. I” Brad cut her off saying, “That’s called coffee.”
“Whatever. So, in that ‘copy’ or whatever it is, there is a poison which comes from one of the bird clan. It is found in frogs too, but I think that those ugly creatures love their lives the most, so they won’t have the courage to provide that poison. But those ‘chickens’ can’t come here. How did this poison come here in this land?” Olympia was constantly muttering to herself. She didn’t know why that poison would come here in this mainland.
“Brad, I think something is going on, and we need to go to that place as soon as possible.”
“Okay Olympia, let’s settle this and then we can go there.” Brad replied immediately. He did not want to take risk. If what Olympia said was true, then they are doomed, and he would never let anyone trample over them. Never. What he did not know was, someone already trampled over them, hard. When he would reach home, he would find something that would change his life upside down. But that’s a story for later.
Brad and Amelia did not touch their coffee and sat there stiffly. The Retired General got up and called his subordinates inside and closed the door. The Dean smirked seeing that. Nobody knew better than him that this room was also under surveillance. But he was dumbfounded the next moment, as the Retired General plucked the cameras from the book shelves one by one and placed them in front of him.
“How” He did not manage to complete the sentence as cold sweat trickled down his forehead.
“Let’s not play games now, Mr. Trevor Collen. As you see, it’s not very easy to fool us. I might be retired, but my senses are still intact. I didn’t want to alert the enemy before I took action. Now that I have found out the identity of the persons, let’s play the game in my style. Wouldn’t that be fun?”
“” The dean was speechless. ‘How did he manage to locate all the cameras?’ Alas, he would never be able to know that. Fear engulfed him. He calculated wrong. He never thought that this woman’s reach would be so far that she was able to invite the Retired General with one phone call.
“Please forgive me.” That was the dean’s last plea of mercy before he lost his vision and succumbed on to the floor. “Take him.” The General ordered his aides.
“Have a good day, Lisa. Hope to meet you soon at the base.”
“Sure.” They shook hands with each other and left the dean’s office before heading downstairs. Everything was calm. Too calm. Brad had a bad premonition inside his heart.
“Mom, let’s go home.” The thumping of his heart was erratic. There was an unknown sort of emotions flowing through him. He couldn’t recognize it.
