Akila Darkbrother: Book Two Of The Kasai Series - Chapter 5
Akila could see the town beneath her and Charles. The wind in her hair felt nice. Her skirt billowed in the wind. She hovered in the air for a second before following Charles. The town disappeared behind them, into the horizon. The moon was right on top of them. Under, there was the start of a forest. Akila and Charles flew for hours till the sun rose.
“Let’s land here,” Charles said as he pointed to a clearing in the middle of the forest. They slowed down and dropped to the clearing. Charles looked at Akila and walked over. “Let me look at your back.”
Akila turned her back to him and lifted her wings so he could look at her now healed wound. She could feel his hands move the ripped fabric of Akila’s gray and black shirt. His finger ran along the leftover scar. “You healed it well. That’s good. But your top needs mended. Here, put on my cloak. Take off your top and I’ll fix it.”
Akila took his cloak and put it around her shoulders and took off her shirt. She made sure the cloak was pulled closed and handed Charles her shirt. He took it from Akila and sat on a nearby rock. He pulled a small box out of his pocket and opened it. Inside sat a small spool of black thread and a needle. He strung the thread through the needle and started to stitch up the shirt. In about five minutes he was done and held it out to Akila. She grabbed it and turned her back to him. She realized that she had to take off the cloak to put the top back on. She had to raise her arms and slide them through the arm holes. Charles had accidentally stitched together the latch to open and close the shirt. Akila looked behind her and said, “Charles. I’m going behind that tree over there, I have to take the cloak off.”
Charles looked at Akila and nodded. Akila walked quickly behind the tree and let the cloak fall. She swiftly slid her shirt on and picked up the cloak. She turned back around and saw Charles, bug eyed.
“You looked didn’t you!” Akila yelled at him. He blushed and looked away. She ran to him and threw his cloak on him as hard as she could. He laughed and shrugged the cloak off. He stood up and looked at me. Akila looked at him in ignorance. He smirked and took a step closer. Akila looked at him confused and took a few steps back. He walked closer and Akila kept backing up. She was stopped by a tree. Charles stood in front of Akila. He grabbed her hand and brought his face close to hers. He turned his head and kissed her, full on the lips.
