All It Takes Is One Night - 49 Chapter 49
“Hello?”
Katie couldn’t speak, she already planned to say thank you and say how appreciative she was but…
She felt like crying, she had been avoiding him all week and the guilt that she had pushed down rushed back up in form needles pricking at her heart.
She had almost let go off an amazing man, who loved her and she might love back. Her parents would understand that you can’t help who you love, right? They would just be upset for a while and calm down, right? She desperately tried to console herself and ease her guilty heart.
“Hey, baby are you there?”James asked when he didn’t hear her reply.
“Yeah, I’m here” Katie replied with chocked up voice.
“What’s wrong? Did something happen?” his endless questions and caring seem to lull her tears out. He was so kind and sweet.
“Katie did something happen? Okay stay where you are, I’m coming.” And with that he hung up.
Hearing the beeping sound of the line cutting off, Katie finally couldn’t hold it back. She slumped to the ground and started sobbing quietly. She didn’t cry for long by the time she was done it felt like a heavy load lifted, she felt relieved and more determined to be with James.
Screw her parents, right? Ok, well not ‘screw her parents’ but you get it.
Ten minutes after her call with James, she heard a knock on the door.
When she opened the door and saw James standing in front of her she was truly shocked, it should take half an hour to drive from Ning HQ to her apartment but he was standing in front of her after just ten minutes.
“What’s wrong? Have you been crying? Who hurt you? Baby please you need to say something.”
Katie was about to respond when she was suddenly lifted from the ground and carried over to her sofa.
James put her down then walked towards the kitchen to get her a glass of water, his eyes scanned over the dining table that hadn’t been cleared yet but he didn’t really dwell on it.
He gave her the water then sat beside her watching her slowly sip he could see she had a lot on her mind and a lot to say, so he just sat and was patient.
