All Stat Slayer - Chapter 49: (1): Season 1: Preparation
Slayers each have their own style and strengths. One could say that the All-Stats Slayer is a somewhat deceptive class, capable of utilizing the strengths of all other Slayers.
In that sense, Hyun-seok acquiring skills is different from other classes acquiring skills. First of all, since his stat points are extremely high, skills that are influenced by stats—though there are also skills that are not influenced—such as Iron Fist, Power Control, Impact Control, become exceptionally powerful as Hyun-seok learns them.
A good example of this is the skill he initially learned through a skill book, “Advanced Heal.” When Hyun-seok learned Advanced Heal, it leveled up through the skill level-up effect based on his stat points, surpassing the highest level and acquiring a new level of healing. The healing, marked in green unlike ordinary healing, is called a Green-grade heal by Inha Guild members, including Hyun-seok.
Considering the fact that Green Stone dropped after White Stone,
‘Skills are the same. After White grade, there’s Green grade. Since Red Stone dropped… Red grade will eventually appear too.’
Hyun-seok reached this conclusion. Even if they have the same name, there is quite a difference between White grade and Green grade.
The advantage of Green-grade healing lies in its efficiency. Lower-grade heals have lower recovery amounts but less delay and lower M/P consumption. While a heal belongs to the lower grade, Green-grade heals have much lower delay than Advanced Heals or Superior Heals while having higher H/P recovery. In other words, they have the characteristics of lower-grade heals with low delay and a higher recovery amount due to their higher grade.
Hyun-seok also learned M/P Charging skill following the opening of the Recovery Field and Advanced Heal. Since skill books for support Slayers dropped relatively well—relatively being the keyword—he was able to learn M/P Charging. M/P Charging is a skill that consumes his own M/P to restore others’ M/P and was acquired to assist Pyeong-hwa’s M/P.
‘But… It was a mistake to learn just M/P Charging.’
It was good to learn M/P Charging. However, a difference arose compared to healing. M/P Charging, for example, is currently stuck at the highest level of M/P Charging. Both have the same 206 intelligence stat points. However, one reached the Green grade, and the other stayed at the highest level of M/P Charging. The reason could be easily inferred.
‘When I first learned Healing, I used a book for Advanced Heal… When I learned M/P Charging, I used a book for Regular M/P Charging.’
So, depending on the skill’s grade when first learned, the level-up extent differs. Therefore, when learning a skill, it meant that acquiring a higher-grade skill book would be more beneficial for Hyun-seok’s growth.
‘Skill books of the same branch cannot be used in combination. They must be used as efficiently as possible.’
Skill books of the same branch could not be used in combination. For example, if you used a skill book for Healing to learn Heal, it would be impossible to use a book for Advanced Heal. In that sense, Hyun-seok, who cannot become stronger through conventional methods, could maximize his skill level by purchasing skill books of the highest grade possible.
Although it is possible that higher-grade skill books could appear when entering a higher difficulty mode, it wouldn’t hurt to purchase the highest-grade skill books at the current level. If they were kept and a need arose, they could be used. If higher-grade skill books were to appear, they could be resold.
The drop rate of skill books had become significantly worse than in Easy Mode. Skill books were hardly obtained, to the point that they were extremely rare. Even when they did appear, they were limited to lower-grade skills. Considering that a lower-grade martial art Hyun-seok obtained earlier was worth 1 billion won on the market, it was evident how abysmal the drop rate for skill books was.
Fortunately, the skills of support and recovery Slayer branches dropped relatively—again, relatively—well. It was known that it was more effective for combat Slayers to repeatedly practice and develop skills rather than use skill books. Whether it was true or just a joke, there were even rumors that those who had purchased many skill books in Easy Mode had struck gold in Normal Mode.
Furthermore, some guilds that hadn’t yet left Easy Mode were recruiting Easy Mode Slayers to attempt acquiring skill books, knowing that skill books relatively—once again, relatively—dropped more frequently in Easy Mode.
‘Anyway… They say Advanced Martial Arts will be available in this auction.’
Although the scale of the Korean Union led by Sung-hyung was small—there were only about 10,000 Slayers in Korea—it received evaluations that its slaying skills were on par with any other country. The number might be small, but the slayers in Korea were undoubtedly skilled, and Sung-hyung’s exceptional abilities were also a contributing factor.
Although the auction did not take place on a regular basis, an international auction was held once a month, attended by top-tier Slayers from each union or wealthy individuals and executives who wanted to nurture Slayers under their jurisdiction. Of course, it was a world that ordinary Slayers and the general public didn’t know about, but Sung-hyung, leading the Korean Union, could naturally obtain the information.
Moreover, the Korean Union had an image of having Platinum Slayers, so its position could never be considered weak. Updating information about auction items was not a difficult task. From Hyun-seok’s perspective, it could be considered quite convenient. He could focus solely on slaying without worrying about the rest since the Korean Union would take care of it.
‘Advanced Martial Arts…’
The auction took place in Korea. Representatives and executives from each union who wanted to support top-tier or aspiring top-tier Slayers participated and selected the auction venue through a lottery. This time, it happened to be in Korea.
‘Sung-hyung must have gone through a lot.’
However, the lottery wasn’t entirely fair. To accommodate Hyun-seok—just in case he entered another country and discovered a dungeon, causing him to miss achievements, which would be a significant loss—he lobbied to have the auction held in Korea. While it might be considered unfair by someone with a strong sense of justice, considering his abilities, it could be regarded as one of his abilities.
Hyun-seok participated in the auction with Sung-hyung. The auction was held secretly, and identities were thoroughly protected. It was inconvenient, requiring the use of masks. It was a drastic measure taken to prevent anyone from revealing who had which item. Naturally, Hyun-seok and Sung-hyung also wore masks.
