Arlo clenched his fist as the room temperature lowered significantly, “Make sure they spend their night in that place and the rest of their lifetime in agony.” After hearing the response, Arlo hung up the call.
After finishing his work he left the office with Ryan.
— In the Barton Mansion —
The next day, when Sky woke up, it was nine in the morning. She quickly washed up and ran downstairs. Loran who was leaving for studio snorted near her and left.
Sky was confused by his behavior. Just them Georgia called her to have breakfast soon. She went to the dining table, “Good morning Mom.”
She took her sandwich and took a bite. “Mom, Where is Brother Jai? And why Loran is angry at me?”
Georgia came out of the kitchen and sat with her. “Jai took both old men to the farmhouse. Your friends must be on the terrace.”
Sky waited patiently to hear about Loran. Georgia poured juice to her glass and continued, “Loran was throwing tantrum all morning.”
Sky paused and looked up from the sandwich, “Did he get to know I was talking with Brother Jai yesterday night?”
Georgia nodded, “When he woke up around half-past two, He saw Jai sending you to your room.”
” Half. Past. Two. ” Sky thought she only spoke for little time. “Mom! Shall I make a red velvet cupcake for him?” She had to placate him else he would be angry for a longer time.
Georgia had expected it. She smiled and got up from her seat, “I will check if we have ingredients. Finish your breakfast first.”
“Thank you! Mom” Sky smiled sending a flying kiss to Georgia and finished her breakfast.
First, she prepared the batter for cupcake and slid it into the oven. Then she prepared the cream cheese frosting. It took her nearly an hour to finish everything before coming out of the kitchen.
After Georgia tasted it. She took a few to the terrace for Sam and Clark. Both gave thumbs up to her cupcake.
“Don’t you guys get bored here? You guys can go back to the capital.” Sky asked as she ate one cupcake. That was her third one.
“Sister Sky, Aren’t we going back today evening or tomorrow morning? You have an office to go to.” Clark asked curiously.
Sky coughed lightly and replied, “I haven’t decided about it. I’m not leaving soon.”
Sam furrowed his brows and changed the topic, “Didn’t you make these to pacify your brother? Why are you still standing here?”
“Mmm! Do you guys want to come?” Sky asked as she moved towards the entrance. She didn’t hear any response but she left to change her dress.
After changing, she fetched the box which had nearly twenty cupcakes and went out. She saw Sam and Clark standing near the car outside and went out.
“Let’s go.” She said and took the driver seat in her car. Sam sat on the shotgun seat and held the paper bag which she was holding. Clark took BMW and followed them.
After about fifteen minutes’ drive, they reached Loran’s studio. Since the studio was in the center of the town in the market, they attracted lots of attention.
Sam noticed around when he got down first. He saw Arlo’s people spreading around as if they were locals. Sky got down and moved towards the studio but stopped by the traffic police.
Sky turned around saw that she had parked the car in the parking lot. She didn’t jump any traffic signal and didn’t even speed on the road.
“Miss. Your driving license please.” A policeman in his mid-thirties asked her.
She took her small card wallet from the pocket and handed him after fishing the Driving license from it. The policeman looked into it.
“Did I unfollow any rules?” Sky asked Sam who was standing next to her.
Sam shook his head. “Do you know how do you look?”
Sky looked down, She was just wearing a simple dark green shorts dungaree and a tangerine half-sleeve T-shirt with white sneakers. She had only those types of clothes in the Barton house.
Policeman cut in her train of thoughts, “Miss, Do you have any other identification card?”
Sky furrowed her brows and passed the government identification card to him, “What’s wrong? Are you a con artist or something?”
Sam’s lips twitched. Policeman glared at her and showed his badge to her. “I think you are underaged to drive the car and you are identification cards may be fake.”
Sky almost laughed on his face, “Do you have poor eyesight? I’m not underaged. It’s ok if you haven’t seen an international driving license but I’m sure you know about the government identification card. Can that hologram be fake?”
Sky pointed at the hologram and continued, “Or should I ask you if your badge is fake?”
There were already many people around them to watch the show. Sky started to get irritated under their suspecting gazes. That’s when she heard a familiar voice from the side, “Sir! she is my elder sister.”
Loran strode towards them, took the cards from the policeman and pulled her out of the crowd without waiting for the policeman’s reply. Traffic police saw Loran. He knew Loran well because of Jai and he could only return back to his work.
Clark was already inside the studio looking around. Sam followed them inside. Sky thought Loran would make a fuss. But he left her hand once they entered the studio and went upstairs where he had his office.
Sky took the cupcakes bag and followed him chanting his name. “Loran!”
Sky called him leaning on the table. He ignored her completely. Sky tried poking him and called his name but failed. She tried to tickle him but no sound left from his mouth and he sat stiffly.
She kept her face in between the laptop and him. She smiled before calling him sweetly, “Dumbo.”
She saw him pursing his lips but she didn’t know whether he was angry or controlling his laughter. He moved his laptop aside and kept on his lap.
Sky stood up, and spoke “Okay! then I will eat off all these.”
