There was a round of chuckles in the hall. But they were watching Harley guard asking the identification card of the reporter.
The reporter handed him the card as he gritted his teeth for David’s answer. Sky heard a voice in her Bluetooth, “President Harley, Identification card is different from the other two reports of the same media company. His name on the card is different from the name registered in our list.”
A hush fell over in the hall when they heard the guard’s voice. The report tried to run but the guard’s one hand was enough to keep him in the place.
“Hand him to the cops.” Sky instructed and passed the tab back to Sam.
“How did you guess?” Sam asked.
“Your training!” She took the tab back and opened the video again and showed him in the fast forward phase.
Cards hanging around the neck of the same media reporters were different and throughout the conference, he was playing with his mobile ignoring the occasion until he got a chance to ask the question.
She had carefully selected the media companies who would work professionally but still one entered in to disrupt.
“Noted! President Harley.” Guard responded and dragged him out forcefully.
The press conference host had to remind the rest to ask questions as they were still in a daze.
A reporter stood up and asked gingerly scaring he would offend them, “Assistant Gill, Aren’t you the one who always managed press conferences. Is it really President Harley who gave orders now?”
Andy gave a faint smile and replied, “I’m just a face. President Harley is the one who controls Everything, Every time.”
“Does that mean, President Harley is here in the conference venue?” The same reporter asked excitedly and looked around every corner with his eagle eyes and others followed the same.
“Oh! Sh*t” Sky said as she pulled Arlo and Sam close to each other with her each hand and hid behind them if incase any camera zoomed in.
Sam and Arlo were stood next to each other with their shoulder crossing a little due to her pull. When they turned to look at the other one, they felt awkward as their distance between their faces was rather… too close.
Sky missed the scene or she would have told, ‘Perfect pair.’
She heard David respond to the excited reporter, “That’s right!”
“My dad is looking for beating.” She mumbled and tried to move them even closer as if there was still a gap between them and reporters would see her.
Arlo tried to step away but Sky’s clutch was tighter and she pulled back causing both men to crash by their shoulder. Sam grounded his teeth and removed his jacket which was held by her. Then he turned around and hung over her head with it.
“Nobody will see you now.” Sam said coldly as he created a safe distance from Arlo.
Whole-time Sky’s eyes were closed hence she didn’t notice them. Sky pouted under the jacket still holding on to Arlo and moved behind him and removed the jacket slowly when questions changed.
She saw both men glaring at her. She threw the jacket at Sam and asked, “What was wrong in shielding me from media taking my picture?”
Sam took a deep breath before his sarcastic reply, “You think Lilliputian will need two men to cover?”
Sky wasn’t short, but their height was too much. She was reaching little above the shoulder without her heels on. Sky glared at him and snatched the tab as she tried to find a word to rebuke.
Sam’s lips turned up seeing her at loss of words. When Sky saw his sly smile, she randomly said an animal name and stormed inside the waiting room, “Mammoth!”
Sam’s lips twitched. He was slender, ‘How can I be giant mammoth?’
…
Soon the press conference finished. Sky strode to David’s room to take his class. “Dad!”
David had expected her to come hence he left the room door open. She closed with a loud thud and sat opposite to him. “Were you trying to expose my face to them?” Sky glared at him.
David chuckled, “Lass! What would you have done if they rushed to take pictures of you?”
“Simple! I would have jumped off from the window. We were just on the third floor.” Sky replied without hesitation. The first thing she did after checking decoration was an escape route in an emergency.
David’s lips twitched, “Can’t you think like a girl and act like a weakling?”
“Oh!” Sky thought for a while, “I was never a weakling to start with. What will a girl do in that situation?” She paused a second, “Should I cover my face as if I’m an ugly duckling and go out under bodyguards protection?”
Sky then laughed, “I can show my face instead of that and walkout pridefully.”
David was thankful that she was a girl and he couldn’t imagine what she would have done if she was a boy. He shook his head resignedly, “Hoyden!”
“Okay Dad, rest now. You will have a long evening today. Don’t drink too much, ask your assistant if you have to toast. Am I clear?” Sky said as she stood up.
“Yes! President Harley. I will follow your orders.” David smiled as he sent Sky.
Since the evening two parties were grand, there was lots of work and rearrangements to be done in three hours. They finished an hour early and were resting when they heard the loud noise of glass breaking.
It wasn’t from the rooftop hence all rushed to the indoor banquet area. A cleaner was sobbing and apologizing to Rony and Andy again and again.
Sky noticed the ’30’ shaped glass was broken into thousands of pieces on the floor. It was specially ordered by Sky before three weeks. It would illuminate light when the external lights fall on it.
It was the only logo they have arranged to symbolize it as the thirtieth anniversary. Andy and Rony saw Sky and others rushing towards them.
