Alternate World Online - Chapter 116
Valeif with only her underwear walked to the boat and got inside. She removed the rope from the boat and using her paddle launched the boat from the coast. The boat with her action sailed down the river. The river which had hands of damned souls trying to flip the boat. Valeif took the paddle and paddled to the distance. No matter how much the hands tried they just couldn’t flip the boat.
Valeif paddled until she reached the cost on the other side of the river. She got out of the boat and hastened it to ground as she thought that she might still need it. The girl walked the ground for a brief moment before she reached a dead end. But even though she reached a dead end, in the distance she saw a large treasure chest. Valeif smirked and she mumbled, “Even here my luck remains strong.”
She approached this treasure chest and touched it and it opened. The loot window appeared and Valeif smirked. She thought, “Well it seems, I won’t have any gold problems.”
Valeif took the gold from the loot window and a message flashed,
<+1,000,000,000,000 Gold Received>
Valeif looked around once more and after making sure that it was an indeed dead end, she returned back to the boat and sailed back to her original location. She once again plucked one of her feathers and threw it into the air. The feather this time landed on the path to the right. Valeif smirked and walked down this path.
At the end of this road she saw a slouching man – the slouching man was wearing a black coat and above him – Valeif saw his name.
The NPC had no health or mana. Valeif approached this man and said, “Hello.”
The man replied in a cracked old voice, “You really are lucky, adventurer!”
Valeif smirked, “How so?”
“I am the underworld trader and I sell the items that even the gods would kill to get. Do you wish to browse my wares?”
Valeif nodded and said, “Sure!”
The shop window appeared and Valeif saw many items and most of them were so high level that Valeif only at her current could equip them. But amongst all items, one drew her attention the most.
Valeif smirked and said, “I want the ”
“Are you sure?”
Valeif nodded her head, “Yes, I am sure.”
“That will be 100,000,000,000 gold.”
Valeif nodded alright.
Valeif smirked and thought, “It’s good to be lucky.”
“Thank you for doing business with me.”
Valeif frowned and asked, “You are not going to sell me anything anymore?”
The slouching man with an old voice said, “Only one item per encounter. If you are lucky we will meet again.”
Valeif smiled and said, “Until our next guaranteed meeting then.”
“Do you think you are that lucky girl?”
“Yes, I am.”
The man smiled, “We will see.” He vanished and Valeif was alone once again. She clenched her fist and opened the inventory. She found this tome and read the new description of the item.
Valeif pressed on the item and she was greeted with system notification,
Valeif scratched her head and shrugged her shoulders and thought, “If I must leave then okay.”
She walked back to the original place and once again plucker her own feather. The feather didn’t float to the stairs instead it floated to a random direction between the stairs and the path that she already went on. The girl waked on this path and in the distance she saw the same slouching man. She smiled and approached him and said, “Hello again!”
The slouching man turned around and frowned, “I will not sell you anything at this time. I was just leaving this godforsaken underworld. Now if you will excuse me.”
“I want to leave as well.”
The man nodded, “Follow me then.”
Valeif nodded, “Alright.
The man walked as he led Valeif. He asked, “Did you meet the ruler of Hel, Helia?”
Valeif shook her head, “I didn’t”
The man nodded and said, “You are lucky then. We are almost there. Let’s go!”
The two walked some time more and a strange dark portal appeared before them. The man smiled and said, “This is the gateway I made to get here. We will leave through here.”
Valeif nodded, “Alright”
But right before Valeif could step into the portal an angry shout came, “Stop right there!”
The underworld trader shouted, “It’s Helia, quick go in!”
Valeif without waiting for anything stepped through the portal and a message notification flashed.
Valeif looked around and saw that she was in the city of some sorts. Just before she could do anything else the sky darkened and some kind of big NPC appeared in the sky and he started talking, “Hello everyone and welcome to Alternate World Online. This is the first VRMMO but it also it may be the last.”
Players started whispering to each other, Valeif raised her eyebrow and she thought, “What does he exactly mean?
“You may all be wondering, what do I mean by that sentence. This is simple really, you will all be spending your lives in this game. Logging out is impossible. And the time is accelerated in the game. It basically means that one day spent in here is only a few nanoseconds in outside world. Furthermore dying in the game is also death in the real world. The only way for you to return safely is either beat the game or wait for 20 years after these years pass in the game. You will all be freed. Everyone happy playing, please enjoy AWO to the fullest.”
