Lance felt himself being shaken, as he rolled over to see who was shaking him. Gregson stood over him, Lance jumped as he notices him.
“What theGregson? What are you doing?”
Gregson sighed, “I need you to head into town and help a young fellow with somethings. Most of the other villagers have gone off to the fields to start the planting for the year. I usually do it myself, but I have other business to attend to, outside the village.”
Lance shifted himself up in bed. “So, where does the person live?”
Gregson walked over to the doorway, “They will be the only one in the village, they run around a lot so you might have to search for them. I must be going, sorry to put this on you.”
Lance yawned, “It’s okay, I will get Scarlett and”
“Scarlett has already left this morning. I asked her to gather a few things while I am away.” Gregson interjected.
Lance stared blankly as Gregson left. Lance sighed heavily before getting out of bed. “Great, just my luck. I hope this isn’t too bad or elseYou know never mind Lance, just don’t think about it. You are a guest here and helping out this person might be worth your while.” Lance spoked to himself.
He headed into the kitchen and grabbed a piece of fruit before heading down the hill to the village. Lance noticed a young woman lifting some crates, he stared at her for a while before she noticed him.
“You here to help me?” she asked.
Lance stared at her before answering her. “Sorry, yes I am. Gregson sent me to help, and you are?”
“Milly, Gregson’s great-granddaughter. Well you can start by helping me get these crates over there so I can set up the area for the eighth.” She ordered Lance.
Lance stared at her before letting out a heave sigh of disappointment. “Very well then.”
Lance lifted one of the crates and put it where she pointed. “No, not there here!” Milly barked at him.
Lance turned to her as she huffed at him. “You are joking right? Are you going to like this? Even though I am here offering my time to help withwhat exactly?”
Milly grumbled before glaring at him, “It is for the festival for good fortune. Did my grandfather tell you anything? By the heavens, are you dumb or something?”
Lance place the crate down and walked over to her, “Well, excuse me for not knowing? I came here because some guy told me and my friend to come here and seek out your grandfathers help. He asked me to come into the village and help someone. He never told me who or what I was to do. So, I am sorry if I am so dumb that anything and dumped this on me.”
Milly went to protest but Lance glared at her, “Sorry, I just didn’t think clearly.”
Lance sighed as he leaned on the crate. “Well, either you treat with respect or I head back and continue my training?”
Milly winced at his answer, “Okay then, I am sorry, but that crate is not to go there.” She pulled out a piece of paper, “Look, this crate as a code on it that matched with a location on this diagram. If you fallow this, we should be finished moving the crates by lunch.”
Lance nodded as he took the paper. He lifted the crate and moved it to the proper location. Doing the same with Milly doing the same with the other crates. By the time they finished Scarlett walked over.
“Lance, you were asked to help out as well?”
Lance looked up at Scarlett, “Yeah Gregson asked me to help out with this but kept me in the dark on the minor details.”
Scarlett laughed, “Yes, I figure that, anyway I just got back from seeing a trader at a trading post just outside of the village. I came to look for this Milly person and tell her everything is in for the festival.”
Milly shot up from beside Lance, “That good, oh by the way I am Milly.”
Scarlett smiled softly, “Nice to meet you, um, when should you be gathering the items form the post?”
Milly smiled, “We can gather them tomorrow, I will have Lance here help me. AS of right now, Lunch then getting the stalls up. After we get those items over, we will be decorating the village for the next few days.”
Lance went pale thinking of everything they had to do. Scarlett glanced at Lance before turning her attention to Milly, “I think I can help with the decorating part. When is the festival anyway?”
“It is in eight days.” Milly answered nonchalantly.
Scarlett watched Lance die inside. “Well, then. I think three sets of hands will help out a lot. Since you killed Lance inside.”
Milly blankly stared at her then turned to Lance. “Oh, I see. Well, the faster we get this done the better the reward.”
Scarlett chuckled, “Yes, I would agree. Well I did bring some lunch form the post. They gave it to me saying that you might need your energy.”
Milly thanked her and grabbed the lunch from Scarlett. Lance looked over as Milly handed him a sandwich.
“Thanks.” Lance took a bite before looking around. “So, where will be starting?”
Milly pointed to a crate. There, we will work our way counterclockwise. As I have found it to be easier over the years. With some of the stands needing ones on the left of them built before hand.”
Lance sighed as he took another bite. “Well at least it will not end in disaster.” He finished off the sandwich. “I will start by getting everything out.”
Milly nodded as she finished her sandwich, joining Lance. they worked together building and setting the stands up. Milly looked at Lance, her face turned red as she stared at him more and more. Lance looked over at her. He noticed her face getting red. He realized she liked him. Lance stood up and walked way for a moment. Milly continued to work as Lance hid around a corner.
He gripped his chest, feeling his heart race. “Why am feeling this with her?” Lance looked around the corner, watching Milly lift a banner up. “I barely know her, and I am acting like an awkward teen now? Its like how Lovell and Luna acted when they met after all that time. But why am I acting this way?”
Lance sighed as he tried to calm himself. “Come on Lance, pull yourself together. True love is a theyan thing not an any race thing? Right?” Lance questioned himself as he shook his head. “No, stop thinking that, you have to focus. Milly is some girl you just met. A beautiful dracoman with gorgeous satin brown hair and a figure that would make even” Lance caught himself. His face turned beat red as he realized what he was saying. He covered his mouth trying to compose himself before returning to Milly.
Gregson watched them from a distance, his eyes scheming as he watched Lance return. Gregson sneaked up behind them and learned in. “What got you two in a huffy?”
Lance and Milly both felt a chill wash over them as they stumbled back. Milly turned to her grandfather. “Grandfather! That was not okay!”
Lance gripped his chest, “By the heavens, Gregson! Why do that?”
Gregson smiled, “you two seem to need a room. The way you two look, something tells me you two”
“Grandfather! Enough!” Milly shouted, her face turning a deep shade of red.
“Oh, come now Milly, you two” Gregson start playfully.
“Grandfather, drop it now or I will talk about that.” Milly spoke threw her teeth as she glared at Gregson.
Gregson smiled as he walked away, “I guess I will leave you two love birds alone.”
Lance’s face went hot as Milly screamed at Gregson. After he left, Milly and Lance could not look at each other as they called it a day.
