Scarlett walked over to Lance, who was sitting by the cliffside. “Lance, you alright?”
Lance turned to see who was talking to him, “Yeah, it is just hard to imagine that Fafnir went threw so much to get to this point. I wish I knew more about where I belong, either with my father, the people I grew up with or the dracoman. I was hoping that it was a more natural choice to make. Yet I feel torn on where I want to go after the war?”
Scarlett sat next to him, “Well, I think you need to focus more on the war efforts more than where you are going to live afterwards. I know you will figure that out with Milly. She wishes to find a decent place that is close to both Grand Dale and Groma. I know you want to think about your future. Now that we find out she is the great-niece of Fafnir. But my point is that we should worry more about creating the future for our children and their children. Where Demora is stopped.”
Lance sighed as he turned away, “I am aware. Umm Scarlett, I need to tell you something that I will not tell my father or grandfather this.”
Scarlett looked at him, puzzled. “What is it?” Her voice filled with concern.
Lance flinched at her tone of voice. “Umm well, you seeMillyshe” Lance took a deep breath, “Milly has laid my egg!”
Scarlett stared at him in shock, “Wait, you did what!?” She slowly asked in an assertive voice.
Lance turned to her, “I” He sighed heavily, “I mated with Milly two days ago. Look, I know you are probably mad right now, but hear me out. Milly and Iwe umm.”
“Srewed up, where you going drunk and slept with her, and now the end result is you’re going to be a father in how long?” Scarlett stared intensely at him.
“Yes, but please don’t tell them! They will kill me!” Lance pleaded at Scarlett.
Scarlett shook her head as she stared at him. He looked pathetic as he pleaded with her. Scarlett sighed as she stood up to walk away. When Milly walked over and stopped in front of Scarlett. She was holding their egg, the shell was smooth with green and blue tinting.
“Oh, Scarlett, I didn’t see you?” Milly turned away as she felt disappointed in herself.
Scarlett closed her eyes and took a deep breath, “Look, I know you two royal f.u.c.k.i.e.d up, but at least you have each other and are thinking of your child’s future.” Scarlett touched the egg. “But it would be best to tell your families the truth. They will be understandingWell, maybe not at first. But none the less, they will help you.”
Lance turned to Milly as she turned away, “You are right but, with this war. We didn’t want to rase it close to the battlefields and have our egg broken before it hatches in two years. Dragons and dracomen take an absurdly long time to hatch.” He turned to Scarlett, “Yet we want to wait to tell them once they have hatched as well, and by keeping this a secret will help my new family be safer.”
Scarlett sighed as she turned to Lance, “Fine, but I would start thinking on how you two are going to hide your egg as of right now. It is blatantly evident that Milly had s.e.x with someone.”
Lance turned red, “I know,” He stood up, “Milly was thinking of going to Iras to hatch and raise our child since her species is a desert type anyway. And we both believe that our child will have more of these qualities.”
Scarlett turned to the both of them. “You two are serious? What about closer? Sure it borders Groma and Grand Dale, but at the same time, that place is hostile to outsiders living there?”
“True but remember to the east Inroar borders Gorma’s more southern border and they don’t like dragon’s encroaching on their border. And that is the only other place we would have gonesorry where I would have gone.”
Lance nodded with her, “Yes, I know, but what choice do we have other than saying, oh look we have a child why don’t come and destroy it to the Faremin? The fewer people who know it, my child, the better. I know my father can keep a secret but with the both of them knowing They might fight on where we should rase it. That is why we are telling you? As you would understand why we are doing what we are doing.”
Scarlett closed her eye, “The Faremin would either kill or take your child hostage as to use against you, and by not telling people who genuinely love you. You put less emphasis on the fact that you have something that they could use against you.” She cradled her head in her hand as she shook her head. “Lance, you are one giant idiot. Fine, since things are now settled here, it might be best that we do head in that direction.”
Lance sprang to Scarlett, grabbing her hands. “Thank you, Scarlett. Truly.”
Scarlett sighed, “Look, we have to set a date and head there as soon as you are ready and told your father and grandfather were we are heading. As to cause any suspicions?” She raises her voice slightly.
Milly smiled, “He will, hiding the egg will be the easiest part, but convincing master Aaron will be entirely another process, as to let me head out towards there. We would have to get him to believe it is to be in my best interest. Yet as the Great-niece of the King, it might be hard to do so.”
“Being?” Scarlett asked.
“Being that once Fafrnir passes away, Milly is in line of the throne,” Lance answered.
Scarletts eyes bulged, “What?”
Milly nodded, “Yes, me and two others are inline for the Groma throne. We will be tested on the thirteenth of Lark. As to who will become the next high king?”
Scarlett pressed on her temples, “If I understand correctly. You have a chance to be one of the High Kings, also known as the Racial Kings. Aka One of the Seven crowns?” she stared at Milly, “You are telling me that Lance could be a King? Threw you? AndYou know I do not want to think about it.”
“Scarlett, do you think you could help us?” Lance asked.
Scarlett stared at Lance, his face filled with worry as he wanted to her help in convincing Aaron as to let him take Milly away from the capital, and safety. She furled her face in frustration as she debated on whether or not to aid them. She folded her arms as Milly stared at Lance in worry.
Scarlett sighed, “Fine, but after the trials. If Milly does become the heir. I will pressure that she goes into hiding to keep her safe and announce that one of the other two as a decoy.” Lance smiled with Milly as he went to thank her, Scarlett raised her hand, “But if she doesn’t become heir. You will tell them everything about the egg and your reasonings. Those are my only conditions.”
Lance smiled, grinning like a child, “Than you, Scarlett, I promise we will.”
