Lance and Milly stood out the doors to the throne room, pale. As they had no idea what laid beyond the gates. As they waited for Fafnir to call them in.
“Lance and Milly, you may enter.”
Lance felt a lump in his throat as he opens the doors for the two of them. Milly took a deep breath feeling that he just wanted to talk to them about something in private. They walked in, seeing Fafnir sitting on his throne.
“Milly, Lance, I am glad you came, as what I am going to be asking was given to me by a reliable source.” Fafnir’s coldly asked them.
Lance glanced at Milly before turning to Fafnir, “What is it that you ask King Fafnir?” Milly asked him.
Fafnir stood from his throne and walked up to her. Milly froze as Fafnir stared through her as if she were never there. Lance could not move as fear of Fafnir’s wrath evident on his expression. Milly flinches as Fafnir reaches over to her bag.
“Where is your egg?” Milly grew pale as did Lance as Fafnir took her bag. And opened it. I did not find it within and then turned to Lance. “I would like an answer as you are not in trouble yet?”
Lance took a deep breath, “It’s at Milly’s place in a bag that we had packed. Fafnir” Lance started to answer Fafnir’s question. “How did you find out and h-how many others know?”
Fafnir touches Lance and Milly’s shoulder, “Just I and Black Wolf so far. I told me while Milly was in the trails. He contacted me through telepathy. So, you can imagine he was overhearing things as he was watching you, Lance, just before everything started that day.”
Lance turned to Milly, “wait, so, he overheard us outside after my father dropped us off at the entrance to the arena? How did we not see him?”
Fafnirclosed his eye, and removed his hands off them. “I think he has summons that hid in the shadows. As you might be aware, I have been looking into Black Wolf and trying to contact him about his actions. But it seems he will only talk to those he deems worthy after they had joined an alliance for the war efforts. Especially if they involve the Ren-Ky warriors and or Lunatica?”
Milly stared at Fafnir, “What are you going to do now that you know about our child?”
Fafnir smiled at them. “I want to know your plans as you might want to hide it from both Lance’s family members. Seeing as they fought during his mother’s pregnancy on were, Lance was to live.”
Milly turned to Lance as he took a deep breath. “So, you are wondering if I am going to stay here or leave. As to raise our child away from all the chaos?”
Fafnir nodded at her answer. “Yes, as I would like to know so I can arrange Aaron and Eledon to go somewhere as you leave. Keeping them busy long enough where I know where you two are heading and can send someone to gather you, Milly.”
Lance looked at Milly then back at Fafnir. “We had thought of that before the trails were even known to us. We are going to the Isar desert close to the border. There is a small settlement there where Milly can stay safe and have it where she is as far as possible from the war zone.” Lance explained to Fafnir.
“Does Scarlett know about all of this?”
Lance nodded sheepishly, “Yes, she was the first we told after Milly laid the egg.”
Fafnir smiled as he pulled them in for a hug. “At least you are not going to abandon your child. You are more mature than most people regardless of want race they are. I am proud of both of you, but.” He pulled away from them, “Once this war is over, you two will be getting married in the traditional Groma wedding. No, if’s, and’s, or but’s, about it.”
Lance smiled as tears filled his eyes, “Thank you, Fafnir. I cannot thank you enough for your help.”
Milly stared at Lance with a smile gingerly adorning her face. Lance grabbed her hand as Fafnir walked back to his throne. “Now, before you to kiss, when do you two plan on leaving as that might be something I should know beforehand?”
Lance turned red as he looked at Fafnir, “Umm, well, we were hoping to leave today?”
Fafnir sighed as he lowered his head in disappointment. “Go home, and I deal with your family Lance, just be on the east side of town by later this afternoon. Now go, and tell the guard to fetch Aaron and Eledon immediately.”
Lance bows at Fafnir will Milly, and they let, telling the guard what Fafnir asked them to say to him. The guard marched off as Lance and Milly returned to her place. Scarlett waited for them outside the entrance to Milly’s home.
“So, what did the King have to say?”
Lance turned to Milly before looking Scarlett in the face. “He found out about or egg, and is dealing with my father and grandfather right now. Helping us get to Milly and our child’s new home until the war is over.”
Scarlett went pale, “Wait, how did he”
“Black Wolf was in town and told him while I was taking my trails. He used telepathy to talk to Fafnir.” Milly answered.
Scarlett sighed as she looked behind her. “Well, how long before we can leave then?”
“Later this afternoon. We are to head to the east side of the city and wait for Fafnir.” Lance began to explain. “After that, we are good to go, as long as my family doesn’t figure out our plan.”
Scarlett nodded as they headed inside and grabbed the bags that Milly was going to be taking with her. Then headed to the east side of the capital. Lance looked back to see his father and Grandfather heading to Grand Dale from the castle, while Whirlwind followed. Lance sighed, knowing his pet was not going with him as he left him with his father for the time being.
As they reached their destination, Fafnir was waiting for them, “You made it.”
Scarlett blink as she stared at him, “how did you get here before us?”
Fafnir tapped the wall, “There are passageways that lead everywhere in the city, built by me out of pure boredom. It was a way for me to escape the castle from time to time.”
Lance shook his head in astonishment. “You are something that’s for sure. Anyway, we are ready.”
Milly stared at Fafnir before showing him the egg. He smiled at the unborn child, “Have you thought of names yet?”
Milly turned to Lance, and they smiled at each other, “Hanita for a girl and Lance jr. if it’s a boy.”
Milly nodded, “Yes, it was something we talked a lot about before and after ourwell, happy little accident now.”
Fafnir touched the egg, “Well, I hope for the best either way. Now, I have a path set our to the border, your father and grandfather will be back in a week, but if you take the road, I laid out for you. You should reach the border by the first of Junra. Then you will be able to help your fianc settle in before you have to leave.” Fafnir explained as he pulled out a map.
Lance took the map Fafnir pulled out and thanked him. Fafnir watched them as they left. A man walked from the shadows holding a knife. Fafnir turned to the man to see it was Iri, Fafnir waited for him to make his move. Iri charged him, but the guards grabbed him.
“Why! Why was I not chosen to be king! You only chose her because of the stupid alliance that will bring us to ruin! Tell me why!” Iri screamed at Fafnir.
Fafnir sighed, “The power of the crown is something I cannot control its is both a curse to where one can control his fellow dracoman. As well as a blessing, allowing the bearer to stop any unnecessary conflicts between each other and other races. The mark was placed upon our family by the gods. So take it up with them, not me.”
Iri stared at Fafnir, “Wait, are you insulating that you cannot influence the crown’s power to whomever you want?”
Fafnir walked over and leaned into his ear, “Yes, and no, only those with my father’s genetics and his descendants shall inherit the power. If the bloodline dies out, so shall the power and the dracoman as a whole will die out.”
Iri glared at Fafnir, “And if I kill”
“If you kill Princess Milly Pendragon, I will end your lineage in a heartbeat,” Fafnir growled. Iri stared at him, realizing he stepped on a land mine. “And to ensure you understand this, your ar going to exiled for even threatening the royal family. Even if you are part of it.”
Iri felt his hands bound as the guards carried him away. Salil walked over to see his brother being taken away while Fafnir stood before him. Salil watched as a guard took the knife from the ground, and Fafnir sighing at Iri. Salil knew his brother did something as he walked up to the king.
“Sir, what is going on?”
Fafnir looked at Salil, “Your brother attempted to kill me and threatened the life of Princess Milly. As a result, he has been exiled for his action. If you wish otherwise, it will not happen.”
Salil, bowed at Fafnir, “I understand your majesty. I wish my brother was not stubborn in staying with his ways.”
Fafnir smiled at Salil, “You change quite quickly, since when you found out that you were not the heir?”
Salil looked up at him and nodded, “I had followed my brother’s actions thinking they were the way to becoming the heir, yet now after seeing that the one I thought was weak and unfit was chosen. I realized that he was wrong and decided to change my point of view and help the people.”
Fafnir smiled at him, “Well, now our hopes are on Milly and Lance, as they are to marry after the war. Our people will be in good hands.”
Salil looked out beyond the city to see Lance and Milly, “Yes, and I am aware of their egg as I was at the party, I dragged them to.”
Fafnir raised his brow at him, “Oh, and now their lives are forever one. But enough of them, I must return to the throne room as I a week Aaron and Eledon will be asking where Milly is. Seeing that they both want to protect her.”
Salil nodded, “Yes, that is true, I will help you in any way as to keep them off their trail.”
