Lance walked around the village as he and Scarlett searched for the leader of the small town. A man walked up behind them, raising a spear into their backs.
“Who are and what” The man asked. While Lance disarmed him and tossed th weapon away.
“Look, we are looking for whoever is in charge of this village. I would rather you did not attack us like th fool that you were?” Lance explained to him. “It would also benefit you not to attack a Grand Dalian.”
The man froze as Lance spoke, eyeing his spear off in the distance. Scarlett showed her weapon and shook her head.
“What is going on here? YouI Told you not to attack anyone who enters our village!” An elderly man walked over to them. “I am sorry if he causes you any trouble. I would not like for our village to be destroyed by th Faremin forces.” The man bowed, forcing the man to bend with him.
Scarlett touched the elderly man’s shoulder. “Do not fret, we are not part of the people but are from the Kingdoms Alliance. The force opposing Demora.”
The elderly man looked up at them, confused as to why they were in his village. “Then why are you here? IF you are here to take some of my men you”
Lance smiled at him. “No, no, it is not like that. We are here to find refuge for my fianc, who is… um well?” Lance tried to explain.
“She has his child wherein two years it will hatch. But with the war rising to the west of the Groma, and Inroar kingdoms, we all felt best to take her and the egg somewhere far away. As to ensure its future and safety.” Scarlett explains their situation to the elderly man. “We left her outside the village as we entered to search for the village leader. So, we could ask if she could stay here until the wars end?”
The elderly man looked at the man who attacks them then to Scarlett. “I am the chief, and this young man is my son-in-law. I am sorry for the trouble he caused. My name is Afu, and” Afu began to introduce themselves.
“My name is Afi.” The man interjected.
Lance nodded, “My name is Lance, and this is Scarlett, my good friend, and my fianc is named Milly.”
Afu nodded at him. “Now why our village?”
Lance turned to Scarlett, “Well, Milly and I talked about it for some time and found that with the battle to stop, Demora. Was going pull any Faremin back their kingdom. We decided on here. It is still close Groma, and far enough from where the battlefield will be.”
Afu smiled as he looked at Lance, seeing in his eyes worry and concern. “I see, is there anything we should be aware of to any other reason you and your fianc are leaving the Groma Kingdom?”
Lance glanced at Scarlet. “Yes, Milly is the current heir to the Groma throne and being that I am a Ren-Ky, it makes having my unhatched child and fianc in grave danger.”
Afu’s eye widened as he stared at Lance. “You mean to say that the Ren-Ky’s are in the war effort?”
Scarlett nodded, “Yes, we are. As Lunatica is still alive. We all separated some time ago, and now we are just waiting to hear from them to get back together. Lance and I are going to send a letter out within a week unless one of the others sends one to use before we get a chance.”
Afi stood up and stared at them, “I-I am sorry for my earlier actions! Please for”
Lance raised his hand, “You had a right to protect your village, and we were intruders in your eyes. All ended well in the end, did it not?”
Afu agreed with Lance as he turned around. “Come with me, we do have a vacant house. I will show it to you, and then you can bring Miss Milly here so that she can settle in. Afi, go and tell the others we have someone new joining the village and the reasonings to why they are here.” Afi nodded and ran off to tell the other villagers.
“Thank you, Afu. It is greatly appreciated.” Lance bowed at Afu. They followed Afu to the place.
The house was relatively large compared to the other homes. Lance stood in shock, seeing the place. “I thought it would be the same size as the others?”
Afu smiled, “This place was built originally to house the chief and his children, but as you can see, it is too large for us, as we are dwarves. large homes like this have no purpose for our smaller stature.”
Scarlett turned to Afu, “So, I am guessing your ancestors were normal humans before dwarfism was well like amongst you people?” Scarlett asked while Lance checked the interior.
Afu chuckled at Scarlett’s observation, “Yes and no, the original people who came to this location were Isar Desert Humans, they are darker-skinned folk like use but are form the hotter parts as we Isar Plains Dwarves are from closer to the Fairmile Crack. Where we are farmers, unbelievably. But we do have average children like other humans do.”
Lance left after checking the building out to get Milly. Scarlett raised her brow, “Wait, dwarves can have human babies?”
Afu nodded, “Yes, we are a subspecies of humans, after all. We can either have Dwarf babies that usually stay here or Isar Desert children. Where they typically leave to the big city as to become a trader. Travelling from one side of the country to the other, helping the common folk get the supplies needed to survive.”
Scarlett smiled at the idea, “I see, so that is why this house is vacant. Is there any children now born that are”
Afu nodded, “Yes, my granddaughter, yet her little heart wishes to stay here as she is in love with another child that is a dwarf.”
Scarlett laughed. “That beautiful to hear, but anyway, Lance and I will be staying for only a short while as we have our duties as Ren-Ky’s to attend to.”
Afu nodded at Lance, and Milly approached. Milly gasped at the size of the house as Lance watched her enter the building. While he held their egg in his arms. “So, you two had a good chat while I was off getting Milly then?” Scarlett nodded at Lance. Scarlett caught something flying towards them out of the corner of her eye.
She then turned to see that it was and could see that it was crow flying towards them. The crow landed in front of her and Lance while crowing at them. Lance looked over the crow and noticed a message halter on it. Lance knelt down as the crow turned to show the canister. Opening it, he found a letter.
Lance opened the letter and showed it to Scarlett. She then read the letter allowed,
/To Lance and Scarlett, /
/As you are reading this letter, Zero and I are heading to the desert city of Indala, located east of the Groma Kingdom. I have already sent letters to the other to meet us there by Junra eighteenth. At the southern plaza. You might have to ask the locals as to where to find the place, but I assure you we will meet us there. I will be there around first noon, do not be late./
/Fang/
Scarlett looked at Lance, “Well, now we know that Fang is calling everyone back. I wonder what would make him take action first?”
Lance agreed with her, “Yes, but if we are going to make the deadline, we have to leave in three days.”
Afu coughed, “Well, Afi can guide you there as he knows the path there. I will let him know.”
Lance nodded as he turned to the house. “Well, I should go tell Milly, let her know. Until we leave, let us fix this place up for now.”
Scarlett nodded as she entered with Lance. While Afu went to find Afi.
