Zephyr watched as Kana bought grocery, she glanced over to see the people smiling and laughing as if the war never existed outside the comfort of their homes. Kana looked over to Zephyr and smiled before they walked to the next stall to buy the necessary items Kana would need for the next while.
“Zephyr, what do you think of the war?” Kana asked her.
Zephyr rubbed her arms, unsure what to say as she glanced at everything around her. “I am not sure. I know that this war has taken many lives, like my parents and Lovell from us, but at the same time, it feels serial. As if it does not exists except hin rumours and whispers.” Zephyr answered softly.
Kana smiled gingerly at her, “Well, that how many people feel, but the reality is that our lives will be snuffed out by Demora and erased as he wishes to destroy our world.” Her smile faded into sorrow. “Demora at one time might have been a loving father, but blams Lunatica for something she cannot fully control.” Kana stopped to look at the fields of flowers.
Zephyr stopped to look at the fields with her. “It’s hard to believe two years had pasted before Lovell’s death?” Zephyr asked.
Kana nodded as the pain of losing Lovell hurt. “Yes, it feels just like yesterday he was smiling and a happy child that loved to prank Ark. Yet, now he is gone by doing the right thing.” Tears escaped her eyes as she wiped them away. “Now, enough of the sad talk. Let us return, Gale, must be getting worried as to why we ladies are not back yet?”
Kana smiled through the pain as Zephyr smiled gingerly back at her. Gale sat on the steps as they returned. He looked up and took the bags from Kana as they entered the house. Kana walked over to her potted herbs and tended to them. While Gale put her groceries away and Zephyr sat down in the living space.
Kana looked over at them as a thought arose in her mind. “Gale, do you and Zephyr remember how to get to the capital?”
Gale stopped for a moment before looking over at her. “Yes, I think so? Why? Do you need us to get something from there?” Gales asked inquisitively.
Kana shook her head at him, “No, more like I want the two of you to met with someone. They are an old friendback before I joined the Faremin armies with Ark and the others. I think if you talk to them, they might be able to help guide you two to where you need to goOh wait they moved recently? Now, where did I put that letter of theirs?” Kana searched around as Zephyr turned to meet Gales glance before turning to Kana. “Ah-ha! Fund it! They moved to Winterstorm, which is south from here. Just past Summerwind.”
Gale turned away, remembering how they ran, form there. Shortly after meeting back up with Lovell. “How is the village fairing since the attack?” Gale asked.
Kana smiled as she placed her hand on her h.i.p.s. “They are almost rebuilt now. Within the next week or so, the city of Summerwind will have people coming from far and wide once again. So, don’t worry. The damage was superficial. And only ten percent of the people living there died. The Hunters Society quelled the fighting as fast as it started. Killing over six thousand Faremin invaders out of pure frustration as they broke a treaty with them.” Kana gloated.
Zephyr smiled softly as the thought. Kana walked over and sat down across from her. “Besides, the Faremin council had to apologize for weeks after they caught wind that they attacked neutral territory. Since those that are a part of the HS cannot participate in war, a mutual agreement was made years ago to where no city that they set base in is to attack or suffer their wrath.” Kana explained.
Gale smiled as he walked over to them. “Lance and I both wanted to join at one time and now” Gale reminisced before trailing off.
Kana grinned before tapping her legs and getting up. “Well, let us not think about that right now. I will get started on dinner than in a week, or so you guys can head to Winterstorm, oh be sure to get winter attire as the four-season town have unusual weather. Winterstorm is a cold and snowy place, so it best you bundle up at the checkpoint by Spring rain or Fallmist. Depending on which road you take.”
Kana walked over to the kitchen and started on dinner Gale looked at Zephyr as she curled up in her seat. “What’s bothering you, Zephyr?”
Zephyr looked over to Gale as he sat beside her. “Nothing, it’s just, I wish Lovell was here. That’s all.”
Gale sighed as he touched her knee, “Look, Zephyr, we both know that we left on good terms. Even if Hunter isn’t Lovell, we need to respect the fact that we abandoned them. And I think you are feeling guilt over what we did to not just Hunter but Lovell as well?”
Zephyr looked at Gale’s hand on her knee. “You might be right, but what if the others hate Hunter to the point that we don’t return or regroup as a whole?” Zephyr pulled herself closer as she tried to hide more.
Gale moved beside her and pulled her close to him. She began to weep as he comforted her. Kana glanced back smiling at them while she continued cooking.
