Fang groaned as he opened his eyes to see he was not in the open. He rose slowly as he winced in pain.
“So, your awake, I see?” A man asked as he entered the room. He was holding a plate of food as he walked over. “A masked man brought you here after he killed Fenya and Tenya. From what I gathered, they were giving you and your friend to the Faremin forces with the intent of brainwashing you.”
Fang froze as he glared at the man, “What did you say?” Fang growled.
The man sighed as he placed the tray down. Then sat beside Fang. “Your mother sold you out. That masked man, it didn’t show up and kill your family, you would either have ended up as a puppet of Azoths or worse Vann’s. Or the other option of death. Take your pick. Living free or getting your friend enslaved or killed with you.” Fang stared at the sheets as he could not figure out why his mother and aunt did what they did. “By the way, my name is Dymo. A full-on hater of the war and your guardian until you recoverwhich even by your standers as theyan will take weeks if not months. As that masked man did quite the number on you.” Dymo explained to Fang.
“Then, Zero! Is he alright!?” Fang bared his teeth at Dymo.
Dymo stared at him as he stood up. “Yes, but he got off easy as he was only knocked out cold. He is in the other room. Eat first, and then I send him your way.” Dymo demanded as he pointed at the food coldly.
Fang sighed in relief as he went to move his legs. Fang felt horror as he could not move his legs. “Wait, why can’t I move my legs?” Fang felt sick as he tried to make his legs move.
Dymo walked to the door and stopped. “The damage he did to your body has temporarily paralyzed your legs. Only time and bed rest will fix them. Be grateful as that man could have made it permanent.”
Fang slapped the food across the room as he screamed in agony. Zero stood outside the bedroom, biting his lip as he could not enter the room. Zero slid down the wall curling up in guilt that he was not strong enough to help him. Crying his eyes out as he waited for Fang to calm before entering.
Ten minutes passed as Fang calmed down. “Zero, I know you are there,” Fang called out to him as he stared into nothingness.
Zero got to his feet and enter the room. “I am sorry.”
“Sorry for what? Not being strong enough? That man was way too strong, possibly my ownno, Azoth couldn’t defeat him even with all of his strength. Whoever this masked man is. I want to know why to kill my mother while I was still there? He said something about me being there, and I think he apologized. The real kicker is, why didn’t my mother fight back?” Fang questioned the masked man’s motives as Zero sat listening to him.
“Dymo said that once you can move your legs completely, we should head out to a place called Fevermor? There is someone there who could help us get stronger.” Zero sheepishly spoke. “So until then, I will”
“No, stay hidden. Remember what Dymo said my mother ratted us out after we were finished training. She could have possibly planned this since I returned to her.”
Zero nodded as he looked at Fang’s eye, filled with rage. “You think we will see this masked man again?”
Fang nodded at his question, “Yeah, I no doubt we will. But as for now, we have to wait and listen to what he does over the next while. As we can find out a lot from just what he does.”
Zero agreed with him as he got up and picked out Fang’s mess. Before leaving the room.
“Just you wait, Wolf, I will get even.”
Zero sighed as he brought the broke plate back and tossed it into the garbage. “I take it Fang had a tantrum?” Dymo asked.
“Tell me why you didn’t just fix his legs? Why let him sit there and seith in rage?!” Zero barked at him as his ears burned.
Dymo stared at him as he filled a pipe with tobacco. “Look when I heard what he had done, I know by making him sit and think about his action would do him some good.” Dymo lite the tobacco and took a few puffs. “Besides, This Wolf character knows you two somehow, and I want to find out what he knows? And possibly see if he is right about Fang? That he will unlock the weapon inside the new Ren-Ky jewel?”
Dymo pointer his pipe at Zero, “Are you not curious about what weapon the power of life gives? AS I am intrigued by the idea.”
Zero pushed his pipe away from him and sat down. “What about the Faremin finding use? If we stay too long in one spot, we will be” Zero protested as Dymo smiled and tapped his pipe of the ashes. The house shifted as Zero grabbed on to his chair.
“You worry too much, I have this place always ready to go from one location to the next, at the tap of my pipe. I go where the people need me within the confines of the kingdom.” Dymo took another puff before smiling at Zero, “I think you should worry more about helping Fang realize where he is wrong and guide him to understand his duty.”
Dymo stood up and left Zero to think about what he had said. Zero sighed as he looked out to see the new location he was at. “What have I gotten myself into now?”
