Zero looked up to see the village as he felt overjoyed to see civilization. “Kratos, look! I think I see Fevermore!”
Kratos looked up to see the village, “Yes, our long trip has finally come to an end. Now to ask around as Kora never did say what her friend’s name was?”
Fang turned to Kratos as he walked up beside him, “I think we ask about a crazy old woman. If they tell us where she is, things will finally be looking up for us.”
Kratos nodded as they entered the village. The people stopped to look at them as they moved closer in. A man walked over to them, “Greetings, what can we do for you?”
Kratos glanced at Fang and Zero as they were tired, “A place to rest for now would be great? I have never been to the village, but if there is a place we can stay, that would be great.”
The man looked confused as he looked at the three of them. “I see, well, we have no inns but do have a village shop that you can rest at for now. What brings you out to our humble village?” The man asked as he had a gleam in his eye.
Kratos stared at him, “We are here to find someone. I am Kratos, captain of the ROYAL Guards, and these are my friends.” The man went pale as Kratos spoke, “Zero Foxtail and Fang Krisnik.”
The man glanced at Gale and turned around, “We do not help outsiders. Leave, or we will kill your friends.”
Kratos narrowed his eyes at the man, “Excuse me? You are going to attack two of the Ren-Ky warriors and the grandson of Kora? What is your right mind, would you do that?” Kratos tried to plod the man for answers.
“I am sorry, but the rules are the rules of this village. Either you all get killed or leave” The man started.
“What is going on here?” An elderly man asked as he approached the group.
“Chief!? I-I was just”
“You were just what? Threatening a royal guard, non-other than Kratos himself? The man who is like a son to the King? You are a fool of a man. Now go, and reflect on your actions.” The Chief demanded as the man stiffened at his actions, before running off. “I am sorry for him, but that is how most of the people of Fevermore are like. Now, what can I do for you?”
Kratos sighed as he looked at the Chief. “We need a place to rest before searching for a woman that Kora knows in this village. OF you know of her, please tell us after we have rested. As we might not catch everything right now.”
The Chief nodded as he led them to his place. Fang and Zero filled their stomachs as Kratos looked at the Chief as he sat beside them. “Now the person you are looking for. She knows this, Kora?”
Kratos nodded, “Yes, she also goes by Mama K. Fang and Zero were sent here to train under her, and I was sent to be their guide to the village. Yet I feel as if I am going to be needed for more than that.”
The Chief nodded as he stoked the fire, “Yes, I know of the Woman you speak of, but finding her is another matter. I will tell the villagers that you are guest, and no harm shall come to you unless they want the king wrath upon them. That way, you can ask them. As I have other duties to attend to. Otherwise, I would have done this for you.”
Kratos bowed at the Chief’s generosity, “Thank you, just let us know when it is safe to do so, and we will do the leg work.”
The Chief nodded as he got up and left his home. Leaving the three men as they awaited his return. Fang began to ponder on how the man reacted to his name. Then remembered he had been to the village years prior.
“Guy’s, I think I know why they hate outsiders.” Fang felt ill as he said the words.
Zero turned to him as he could see Fang’s grave expression. “Fang? What do you mean?” Zero slowly asked out of concern.
Kratos turned to him as well, not saying a word as Fang looked at them. “About two hundred years agowhen I was part of a questionable groupI was part of a raid on this town. I was not in the best of places as I was bored and hungered for action. Now, my actions have caused the people to distrust outsiders. I think Mama K’s friend might not even live in the village” Fang trailed off as he began to realize his past actions.
Zero sighed as he looked at Kratos, “Well, I think we should ask around just not call you Fang? Something else might work like?” Zero tried to think of a name.
“Dog,” Kratos suggested as Fang’s face soured.
“Fine, we will go with that just once we find Mama K’s friend we stay out of town. As to not upset the villagers.” Fang turned to the entrance as the Chief walked in.
“The villagers are willing to talk but not to your friend here as he bears the same name as a man from two hundred years ago.” The Chief looked to Fang and bowed, “I am sorry, but your friends will have to do all of the talking.”
Fang sighed before nodding in agreement. Kratos and Zero looked at each other before getting up and thanked the Chief. Fang followed shortly behind as they started their search. Zero and Kratos asked the villagers as they did not know who they were talking to. One by one, they talked to every villager until they came up to a small child who was following them.
She ran up behind Fang. ‘I know who you are searching for, but no one can hear me.’
Kratos turned to see her, “Hey, little one, what are you doing here?” He asked as a woman walked over.
“She cannot speak due to a birth defect. It is pointless to talk to her.” She scoffed as she looked at Fang.
‘Mean old Woman. I wish I could give her a piece of my mind.’ The girl puffed her face as the Woman glanced at her.
Fang glanced down at her as he could tell the child was not afraid of him. Kratos sighed as he walked over to the Woman. “Ma’am, are this child’s mother or guardian?”
“yes, I am.”
‘She’s lying, she killed my mother for loving an outsider. She is just going to beat me.’ Fang pulled the girl towards him.
“I think not, as I can hear her thoughts and knowing that no one here can use mind read or telepathy. I know that she is not lying.” Fang spoke up as Kratos turned in horror. The Woman went to protest as Fang glared at her. “Don’t make me cast a truth spell, and one other thing I am the same person who attacked that I share the name with. As I attack this village over two hundred years ago.”
The Woman stared at him as his eyes glowed a deep gold. “N-no way, you are a human!”
Fang closed his eye and turned into his theyan form, showing her what he was. “Yes, I am as I am a theyan.” Zero and Kratos were terrified as Fang exposed himself. “And I am genuinely sorry for my past action. I know that will not change things, but being part Dog type theyan does not help the fact that I get bored after some time with no action.” Fang bowed at the Woman as she stood in shock as the other villagers heard him.
The villagers turned away as they could tell her was boing genuine in his actions. The Woman glared at him as she went to attack but was stopped when a gigantic beast roared from the forest, and some hunters raced back.
“Run and hide! THE MOSTER ISAHHH!!!”
The villagers scattered as they ran into their homes. Once they saw the beast. Fang went to grab his sword. ‘No wait, he is my friend; just get him out of the village. I will get V to save him!’
Fang looked at the girl and let go of his blade as he looked at Zero and Kratos. “Don’t attack. Just drive it out. The hunter provoked it. The child is going to get Kora’s friend to help.”
Zero and Kratos glanced at Fang and nodded as they did as he asked. The child ran off as the beast roared. Fang turned into his beast form and started nipping at its feet. While Zero summons his shield to defend the villagers who were caught in the middle. Kratos created metal spikes to drive it into the forest. The beast growled as it moved out of the village. Fang noticed the wound on its side as they continued to push it back.
‘Push him this way!’
Fang noticed the girl and started to push towards her. They were far into the forest when the beast roared loudly before falling down. Fang stood stunned at Zero, and Kratos huffed.
“Now that is done, let us heal him up. These idiot hunters don’t know when to not hunt a Jungo, especially one bonded to a child.” The voice of an elderly woman scoffed form behind them. “I, thank you, boys, for helping.”
Fang turned around as he turned back in his human form. To see an elderly elven woman who looked spry for her age as she walked tall holding a large rifle.
‘V, you’re here!’ The child ran up to her.
“Now, now, I may not be able to know what you are saying, but I know from your actions you are glad to see me stop your friend. Now let me see the wound.” V walked over to the Jungo and assessed the wound, “Hmm, you! Redhead, go get those leaves, and you mix breed, give me your belt!”
Zero and Kratos complied as they gave her what she needed. As Fang walked over. “You must be my grandmother’s friend.”
V looked up at him, “Yes, Kora and I are part of the same clan, the Krisnik clan. Where you must be Fang, and I can only guess, but the mix breed is Zero?”
Fang smiled, “Well, yes, the one with the red hair is Zero, the one you called mix breed is Kratos, my half brothers, other, half-sibling.”
V looked at him, “Huh? Really? Now wolf told me to work with you most and to find a trainer for Zero to retrain him how to fight. As the Faremin ways will hinder him when fighting other Faremin. IS Kratos a guard or a guard caption?”
Fang raised his brow at her, “Yes, he is part of the royal guard and the caption of them to boot, why?”
V took a deep breath as she looked at him, “TO train Zero, of course, were you not paying attention? Youth these days are slow, I tell you.” V finished treating the Jungo as she stood up, “By the way, my name is Vivian or V for short.”
Fang stared at her as the child hugged her beast friend smiling as she looked as if she was laughing with no sound. “Well, it looks like we are in your care until you are done with us.”
Vivian grinned as she waved for them to follow, “Now come my home is not far. You three can stay in the guest house, just not fighting, or you will regret it.”
Fang smiled as he could see why Kora was friends with her as Kratos and Zero trailed behind.
