- Volume 4: Book 4: Wolves And Foxes Chapter 163 Septra 28th Shadow
Shadow walked up beside Wolf as he looked out to see a massive fortress before them. “So, you think that Vann really got back the artifact I stole?”
Wolf nodded as he turned to Shadow, “Yes, from what the others have been reporting a member from the resistance was a spy for the Faremin. Luckily he was not around when Gotama was killed, or else things would be very difficult for Kito right now?” Wolf changed his mask to blend into the fortress guards. “Besides, if anything goes wrong, you have my back. Now I am heading into Longbow, I hope to find out what the hell is going on in there as none of the other could get in to find out.”
Shadow crossed his arms, “Just keep your guard up. If Vann sees your face, he will use you as a pincushion to find out more?”
Wolf nodded as he walked off to the front gate. He enters with no problems as he walked around, searching for answers. He noticed Vann walking down the hall as Lily argued with him. Wolf moved in closer as they continued.
“Vann, we need to talk about Kito? He ran off somewhere and now has no memory of what happened to him? I think that Wolf is on to you, and you need to slow down? Once Wolf is with the Ren-Ky’s, he will be too occupied with them. ON whatever his plans are?”
Vann stopped and turned to Lily, grabbing her by the arms, “Precisely why now is the right time. Wolf is occupied with them now? He is to busy keeping Azoth and the others away. He would not notice me completing Project Wolf Heart.”
Wolf turned away as he wondered what the project was. As he listened to their conversation more. “True, but I think it is too risky? If he does come here, what will you do?” Lily asked out of concern for Vann.
Vann smiled as he kissed her on the cheek. “He never takes off the mask, and my men have coded masks; if he were to enter, he would have to change his face to match whoever’s mask he took? So, don’t worry.”
Lily turned away as she trotted off in a huff. Vann sighed as he noticed Wolf. Wolf acted as if he was waiting for Vann to give him orders as she stepped forward, “Sir, all the new recruits have arrived and are awaiting your orders.”
Vann raised his brow as he looked over Wolf, “Show me your face, soldier?” Wolf complied as he took the mask off. Vann pulled out a chart and found Wolf’s face as he looked at him. “Okay, then. Have all of the recruits check then report to me in my chambers. I need your help with the project.”
“Sir.” Wold saluted Vann as he put the mask back on and walked away. Vann felt uneasy as he began to think about his wife’s words. Wolf turned corned and let out a sigh. He looked back and smiled as he did what Vann had asked of him. “To bad for you, I know Alchemic magic and can change my face when need be.” Wolf started to scratch his face, “Yet the pain is not worth it.”
Wolf finished Vann’s orders and then headed to his chambers as he scanned the memories of ever personal to find his way through the fortress. Wolf took a deep breath as he knocks on the door.
“You may come in, Styles.” Vann order from beyond the door.
Wolf entered the room as Vann stood staring at him. “All of the recruits checked out. Now, what is it you wanted my help with, sir?”
Vann walked past him, “Come, we are going to check on the preparation of the weapon.” Wolf felt uneasy, as he followed Vann to a large room with a large device.
A worker ran over as the saluted Vann, “sir, the testing is ready, but be warned anyone with magic will be weakened for three hours?”
Vann nodded as he looked at his creation, “The control orb? Where is it?” The worked handed it to him as he grinned. “Ah, now we just have to place it in the device and then wait one whole day before the test can begin?” Vann looked over to see a man walk over.
Wolf glanced over to see he was wearing civilian clothes, “Master Vann, I have news about the resistance?”
Vann raised his brow as he looked at the man, “What is it, Gol?”
Gol nodded as he looked at Wolf, “Gotama has been killed, and the resistance is keeping a tight lip on who was the killer?” Vann’s eyes narrowed as he started to think about it. “And also they have moved bases once more. This time they moved in with Dymo, your son.”
Vann’s eye turned to rage as he looked at Gol, “Tell me you are joking? That fool is still alive?”
Gol nodded as he handed him a piece of paper, “Also some time ago, Fenya and Tenya were brutally murdered. The autopsy shows that Wolf was involved. I think he can move thru the shadows and get to one place to another threw that method. I also found that Wolf might have used your old workshop back in mid-Mray. As it was discovered to have been disturbed some time ago.”
Vann turned red as he screamed, “How!? How is it that Wolf can do this!? What are his sources?! Who is leaking information? Where did he crawl out of? And what are the connecting factors? I need more information if we are to stop this rat!”
Wolf stared at him as he ranted on. “Sir, we have more pressing matters if we are to get the project finished in time for the test tomorrow for Lord Azoth.” Wolf looked around to see that there was a guard at every corner.
Vann took a deep breath before turning to Wolf, “How did you know that information, Styles?”
Wolf bowed as he pulled out Styles letter address form Azoth, “Azoth sent me a letter to remind you of his coming. Sorry if I did not mention this earlier.”
Vann snatched the letter and read over it before looking at Wolf, “Right, you were one of his men at one time. Now I will finish with the attaching of the control orb, and then I will be in my corridors”
A message came running in as Vann was talking, “Sir, Lord Azoth has just sent a message, He will be late as he found out that Wolf has a spy amongst our men.
Vann turned red once more as he glanced around, “Everyone is to stop what they are doing, and I will find this spy. Even if it takes me days to find them. The whole building is on lockdown, and everyone is to return to their rooms immediately!” Vann barked as the men scurried away. He turned to Wolf as he watched his men return to there bedchan=mbers, “Styles I want you to help me find this spy and expose him. I am going to guess Azoth will not enter the premise with Wolf’s little spy hiding amongst my personal.” Vann started to walk back to his chambers.
Wolf nodded as he followed Vann, “Very well, sir. I will do what I can.” Wolf could tell this was not going to be easy as he watched Vann tuck the orb under his robe.
