Amnesia - Chapter 38

Cassandra stood up.She was so confused hearing Thanatos.She is about to die in a few moments then how could she fight for her life.Was he joking with her?But from his tone it looked like he is not joking.He is serious.

“How can I fight for justice?I am about to die in a few moments.” Cassandra asked him confusedly.

Thanatos blew his sword up in the air.Immediately all of their surrounding became darker like a grave.A ray of thunder sparkled just above their head.Cassandra almost shouted loud in fear.All the darkness lightened with the spark of thunder.Suddenly a throne appeared behind Thanatos.He sat on there.

“Cassandra….What do you think between a tiger and a human being who possesses the most strength?” Thanatos asked her.

“Tiger.” Cassandra replied.

“Then who is the most powerful do you think?” Thanatos again asked her.

Cassandra was silent for a few second.As if she was thinking hard about the answer.The question is quite difficult.

“Human.” Finally she answered.

“Why?Can you explain?”

“Because though a tiger possesses strength more than a human,but humans have wisdom.Through his wisdom,he can defeat more stronger creatures than a tiger.” Cassandra gracefully answered.

“Then what is the moral?”

“Moral????” Cassandra became confused.Which moral was he asking about!

“Cassandra…Being born weak is not anyone’s fault…But when you give up that is your fault…You had your wisdom,you had your intelligence yet you let yourself be bullied by other.Shouldn’t you have to fight for yourself?” Thanatos said in a stiff voice.

Cassandra was silent.Thanatos is right.Everything was happening before her,gave her warning that she had something important to deal with yet she chose to be turned blind eyes to that warning.She just relied on her upcoming fate instead of trying to change that.The result is before her now.She has to be brutally killed by that woman.

“Cassandra don’t you want another chance to go back to the real world?”Thanatos asked her.

Cassander downed her gaze.She was very ashamed of herself.She was very ashamed of her foolishness that she didn’t even try to fight back.

” Yes.I want.”Her voice was very faint.

Thanatos stood up.He hit his sword in the ground.All the flare in the surrounding lit up instantly with fire.Cassandra first time noticed that there were some flare in there.

She can see the face of Thanatos clearly now.She at first thought maybe he had a very scary face.But she was proved wrong when she saw it.His face was quite pleasant.May be as he is the god of peaceful death,his face is not that scary.

“Please give me a reason to give you an opportunity to live?” Thanatos asked her.

Cassandra stared at him.

“I want to fight back.I want revenge..” Cassandra’s gaze was blank.

“Cassandra when you need something,you should earn it.Nothing is free.” Thanatos started walking drawing a circle around Cassandra.

“Even the nestling of birds who have just been born,the innocent soul in the earth had to go through the toughest test to prove that either it is able to live in the cruel world or not!”

Cassandra was silent.Thanatos is right.Nothing in this world is free.Everyone had to achieve their valuable things.

“I want to prove myself.” Cassandra above her head.Her voice was full of confidence as she knew now what she was supposed to do.

Thanatos’s eyes lit up.He again aboved his sword.Another ray of thunder hit upon his sword.A sound of electric spark was ringing on Cassandra’s ears.

“Now you are on the right track.” He stared at her face.

“I will give you the opportunity to fight back,to go back to the real world,to get back your revenge.But keep the thing in your mind that you have to prove yourself.”Thanatos stated.

” Yes,I will prove.”Cassandra was confident.What she did wrong in the past life won’t repeat that back again.She will prove herself that she is worthy.She is not weak.

“But Cassandra let me remind you,if you aren’t able to prove yourself, the consequences won’t be good.” Thanatos closed his eyes.

Cassandra narrowed her eyes.She is already at the verge of death.How much the consequences can be worse than this!!

Thanatos smiled.

“I know what you are thinking now.But trust there is much worse than this!”

Cassandra was surprised.

“What can be much worse than this?” The sentence escaped from that.

“Your soul will be captivated by demon.There will be neither birth nor death.No color,no light.Only thing you can find there is emptiness.Only emptiness.And trust me it is the scariest thing.”

Cassandra sighed for a long breath.Yes!Emptiness is the most scary thing.She knows very well how does it feel to have no one,no relatives.When she was amnesic.But she can’t accept defeat.Whether the scary consequences it would,she had to fight back.When the death god himself is willing to give her the opportunity she can’t let it go.She had to grab the opportunity.

“I don’t care whether the consequences are good or bad,if I fail.I will fight back.I will take every opportunity to fight back.Even I have to fight with the strongest demon,I will do that.” Cassandra said in a breath.She really didn’t care if she wins or loses.She just had to fight.She really needs the opportunity.

Thanatos went back to his throne and sat there.He straightened his sword.

“I can see the spark in your eyes.I will give you the opportunity.Just remember carefully that you have to prepare yourself.” Thanatos said with his heavy voice.

Cassandra nodded.

“Your test will be starting soon.Just be prepared.”
