- Chapter 84 Battling in Celadon City! Creepy Pokemon! Part 1 & 2
The next few days, had Gray deciding it was time to head for his next badge. The ship would spend a few days out at sea traveling. Done battling water Pokemon, he teleported away after notifying the others.
A lot of strange things had happen in the city according to a bunch of trainers. The Elite trainers reported the same thing.
“Hey. I am here for a Gym challenge and Elite challenge.” Gray said to the receptionist. The woman looked him over and asked for his Id. Going through everything, Gray felt it was weird that a sweet scent was in the air. “I received the message saying everything was ready.”
“I am sorry. The Gym Leader had something come up unexpectantly.” The receptionist said politely. “It will be an hour before she can fight you.”
“I will go against the substitute instead.” Gray responded after checking that only the gym leader was out. The Pokegear said the sub was available. So that would not be to much of a problem. “That is standard procedure.”
“Right, let me give her a ring.” She picked up the phone and made the call. Gray watched as the screen for the sub turned black on his pokegear. She was now unavailable. “I am sorry challenger. Want to try again tomorrow?”
“Nope.” Gray smiled and walked out. He met up with a bunch of other trainers in the area by the casino. All were male. “Yeah, the same thing happen to me. So I am putting in the request to the Elite League and Regular League as well.” The others nodded and filled the forms out again. “Maybe they will listen with us all sending the response at once.”
“This is so ridiculous.” Mark said. “To think she would do stuff like this.” Next to him, Christin was also there upset. The trio did not have time to catch up face to face, but made plans for later.
“It is not the first time this happened. She did it in the past to. But the thing is, badges are registered after they are won. So going in as someone else is bad. Especially when everything gets checked at the league finals.” Gray tapped his foot in thought. It made no sense to get them all heated up. “We will do this legit. No reason to risk your careers.”
– 1 Hour Later-
The trainers turned in the work and left. It was not long till Gray met with an Inspector from the League. The others went to take care of soe personal tasks they had put off long enough.
“Mr.Saint nice to meet you. Sorry for the trouble. Towards yourself and the other trainers. Inspector Chase.” The man reminded Gray of Inspector Zengata from Lupin the third. Especially looking at his outstretched hand for a shake. Same scraggly facial hair and long legs. He even had the brown suit and trench coat.
“Pleasure to meet you. Hopefully, we can have this done soon.” Gray returned the handshake. Walking back to the gym was pleasant enough as they chatted a little.
“Inspector Chase, here to investigate the Gym.” He passed the woman a warrant and move to go past.
“Sorry, but you can not go in there!” The receptionist yelled. Seeing them not move away, her hand outstretched turning into vines. “You are not allowed to enter!”
“Oh just wow!” Gray said shocked. The Inspector was not as relaxed. He felt things had turned really weird. “You should jump back!” The Inspector moved to late. Vines left from the woman and wrapped the Inspector up.
“Not the time to be impressed!” Inspector Chase tried to reach his Pokeballs. The vines were to strong to let him move. “A little help here.’
“Uh huh.” Gray nodded and outstretched his hands. With a Psychic push, the vines were ripped off. “Hmm, go Pyron, Bedrill, and Growlithe.”
“What’s up dude?” Pyron burst out happy. Bedrill just went on the offensive and attacked the receptionist. Growlithe stood near Gray. Sniffing the air.
“Bedrill take care of her. Pyron provide backup. Growlithe you are with me.” Gray said. He turned to go past the door with the Inspector. Once inside they were not ready for what they saw. “Holy… crap.. on a … cracker.”
“This is just not right.” Inspector Chase face twisted in disgust.
Inside were various women of all ages. Moving about draining males of their life force. Green vines with needles sucking blood out and spewing it into vats on the side. The vats had long vines outstretched to the back. Leading into the botanical garden inside the place.
Large beds on the walls showing cocoons of people inside. Green vines pumping things into them. In the center was the Gym Leader Erika. She floated in the middle via large amounts of aura power. Yet oddly enough, she seemed weak as can be. She looked to be dead. A Gourgeist below glowing a bright gold. On closer look, a little boy was seen visibly inside.
“I am never coming back to this city.” Inspector Chase said. He used his Poke gear to do an emergency call. However, the signal was blocked.
A few Trevenant were shaking. Listening closely, a strange pitched sound went out causing a disturbance. The pokemon wooden body would move a little showing its black under flesh? The usually red eye glowed dangerously green instead.
“Tch, Pokesoul!” Inspector Chase yelled. When the light cleared he had changed to resemble a Magmar. Large shoulder pads composed of flame looked ready to do some damage. A weird flickering flame around his mouth in the image of a bill pulled in loose aura energy.
“Let’s do it Growlithe.” Gray and Growlithe fused immediately after. “Raaaawwrr!” He let out a roar immediately after.
The fur on his body looked darker in some spots. The mane was thicker as well as his claws looking sharper. Gray found it odd that Growlithe seemed more in synch with him. almost as if it didn’t want to separate from him. It was weird and would have to wait for later.
“Paras!” Several Parasect came out from the bushes. The large crab mushroom Pokemon started attacking immediately. Releasing spores. Gray just flared up his flames around his body to burn it all away.
“Spit!” Opening his mouth, he spat out tuffs of fire. Ember was used in quick succession as he moved his neck around. The fire was intense and contained as much strength as flame thrower. Hitting ach of them once, the pokemon left immediately after.
Gouregeist was a very menacing looking Pokemon right now. It reminded Gray of the Dark Forest incident. A pokemon so twisted and full of anguish and hatred. The good news, it was not as strong as Celebi was.
“I will deal with this. I think it better you help as many people as you can Inspector.” Gray released his other Pokemon. ” Go and assist the others and the Inspector here!” After giving the order, Gray used Extremespeed to attack the Gourgeist.
“Ooooh!” Before Gray made contact, the pokemon howled a ghastly sound. It collided with Gray’s fist. The little boy inside turned to Gray angrily. “Get away!”
“Thhuuum!” a large blast of aura power shot out. So intense it burned the ground. Gray created a psychic barrier to protect himself. As the outburst ended, Gray circled his fist in fire in preparation. The grayish flames feeling calm under his control.
“You cannot have her. She will stay my mother forever!” The little boy said. The Gourgeist grew in strength and power. Ghost and Grass aura circled around into its body.
It went from small to large quickly. The body was about the size of an adult as it fused completely with the boy. it was a good thing Gray told the Inspector to leave and help the others people. The grotesque existence was something disgusting to see.
The skin was covered in scars almost to the point of flagellation. The pumpkin-like face was stretched outward. Inside were spread out jagged human teeth. The pokemon’s hair was like appendages that were still visible. Sticking outside the head in the form of arms. The weird cowlick on the top looked to be made of fingers.
The eyes glowed mischievously as it taunted Gray to unnerve him.
“You are to late. The boy and I are one and the same. I enjoyed devouring him. You ruined my beautiful feasting grounds.”
“Tired of searching around leading people away with you creepy song I take it?” Gray asked unbothered. Scanning the area, he was already pretty sure that the kid had died a long time ago. And that Erika was either next after it continued to devour people, or it had something more planned. “So body snatching. What a terrible hobby.”
“Not my idea.” Gourgeist shrugged with all its arms. The glow turned red as it stared at Gray. It was communicating with something. Gray felt Pyron call out to him mentally. The pokemon had gotten in a fight with someone that was trying to escape with documents. “You are him. A pleasure to meet you.” The pokemon gave a bow. Looking up at Gray’s expression it wonders if it was wrong.
“Have no idea what you are talking about.” Gray then sent a quick message for Pyron to snatch the person no matter what it takes. ‘You and Titan must get that person at all costs! Even if you have to bring a part of the building down!’
“Whack!” Gourgeist lashed out with it’s hair at Gray. It felt the psychic communication he sent out. Thinking he was calling for reinforcements, it wanted to eliminate him as soon as possible.
“Grrr!” Groaning in agitation, it tried to free itself. Gray had grabbed the hair with and was burning it in his hands. “Let go!” With a tug, Gourgeist was pulled towards Gray. As it struggled in his grip, it was constantly getting burned. “Ahhhh Ahhh! Stop!”
“No.” Gray’s eyes glowed darkly with aura power. Something inside would not let this end with out punishing the thing in front of him. Growlithe was in agreement. “Who sent you here?”
“If you stop, I will answer you!” Gourgeist pleaded. Gray just kicked the flame’s up a degree in response. “Ahhhh!”
“I can do this all day. My Pokemon are not in danger, so their is that out of the way.” While speaking to it, Gray was constantly sending psychic energy to dig into it’s mind. The problem was the soul of the boy. His memories were in the way. Gray destroyed them to get to the core of the Gourgeist’s own. He found it after ripping out a bit more. A sense of fear rose up in his body. “Dammit!”
“Woosh!” Gray moved just in time via Teleport. Three Tangela had attacked. The pokemon’s eyes glowing green in the sickly aura.
“I do not have time for this. I can not lose this lead!” Gray felt the presence of Arceus inside the Pokemon. The pokemon knew something. It was actually an agent of his. “Get out of my way now!” Gray sent his psychic and aura energy out at them.
“Woosh!” The three Pokemon went flying away from the outburst.
Gourgeist had taken the time to run away. Gray lit up in flames and jumped at it. While in the air, he let loose a Fire Spin to trap the pokemon.
‘Darkrai, go and get Erika out of here. Just in case this goes badly.’ As soon as gray thought it, Darkrai shot off from him.
With its immediate path cut off, Gourgeist turned to face him. Hands spread wide as it let loose an attack.
“Brrrp!” Gray focused to close on the hands. They were a distraction. From the ground, shifting shadows shot up and stabbed at him. The Move Shadow Sneak caught him.
“Splurt!” It pierced his stomach with ease. The weight from coming down, played against him in this case. But that didn’t bother Gray. What did, was the feeling from the attack. He could feel strange sensations from it that just felt wrong.
‘It can’t be!?’ Before the shadows dispated, Gray wrapped it in his aura energy. Searching the shadows gave him the feeling of life. “The people in the pods… you have been extracting their souls to boost your aura power!”
Gourgeist face was still the same. But from the connection, Gray knew it was proud of its self. that sent him into an enrage state. Aura power burst free from within. Gray shot forward grabbing hold of the face.
“Ripp!” He tore the face apart in his anger. As soon as Gourgeist tried to scream, it was forced to swallow fire.
“Bah!” Gray let loose a Fire Blast directly into its mouth. He then used Bulk Up to strengthen himself. His arms pushed down knocking the pokemon down. “Confusion!” Pushing out a massive amount of psychic energy, Gray forced it into the dirt.
He started cutting furiously at the body. His body heating up as he did so. Gourgeist screams were ignored completely. As the flames bore into it’s body, the psychic energy latched onto the resdual minds of the souls inside.
“Ding!” Inside Gourgeist belly, lights started to gather. Little tuff balls. Feeling its thoughts at the surface, only thing that could be heard were protests.
‘Those are my souls! Mine!’ Gourgeist, let loose another waved of aura energy to push Gray off. It did not work. Gray dug his heels into its side and kept swiping away. “Ahhhh!”
Gray ripped its belly completely open finally. Inhaling, he swallowed the souls as fast as he could.
“Pew! Pew! Pew!” Three large beams attacked him from the back. The Tangela’s were back. they had used Solar-Beam attacking him.
“Whack!” Gourgeist smacked Gray in the back. Reeling back for another strike with the Tangela, they all wrapped around him trying to strangle him to death.
“Vrrrpp!” Several more vines wrapped around him. More Tangela at first he thought. But they were the weird people from the pods. Gourgeist had called them to help when Gray started to cut into it.
“You are going to pay for my meals and my face!” Gourgeist roared angry. The side of its face still trying to heal up. “I bet your soul taste divine.” Gray was quiet and started chuckling at it. “why are you laughing!?”
Gray was lifted up into the air as he started laughing more. He was then slammed into the ground next. Lifted up, Gray was still laughing at it.
“Stop laughing!” Gourgeist moved close to him and grabbed his face. It’s face twisted in fury. “What..” it smacked gray in the face. ” is so..” It scratched at his face unable to hurt him. “funny?!”
“You are.” Gray said in a dual voice. His very tone causing those around to freeze up. “You should pay attention to your surroundings more. That way you do not loose your meals. Take a look around.” Gourgeist looked around quickly. The entire area was engulfed in fire.
The biggest problem was Erika was missing. Gray had Darkrai take off pull her away from the area. The fire was not intense at all. Mostly to keep from drawing attention. And not setting the sprinklers off.
“I have to thank you. I have been caring a lot of anger in me lately. You will defintely help me blow off some steam right now!” Gray ripped off all the wraps breaking himself free. His aura was ready to go out again. This time under his control. “Explosion!”
Charged with fire aura, Gray detonated. The burning light stretched in the area. The Tangela and weird people were incinerated completely. When the light touched the flame circle, it stopped.
“Bring!” The intense temperature caused the sprinklers to finally go off.
“Glad this work. I did not want to pay to for the loss of a Gym.” Gray’s fusion state dissipated. Growlithe was exhausted so it returned immediately into the Expokeball. ‘Rest up. Told ya it was exhausting to do that.”
“Yeah, but fun.” Growlithe said happily. With the Gym having so much plant life inside, the sprinkler system was more than the standard. The fire was out in minutes.
“Ugghh” Gourgeist groaned. The body burned in several locations. Seeing a few of the souls still inside, caused Gray to glow in Dark aura. ” What are you?!” Scared, Gourgeist tried to flee. It fell down just as it got up. ” My legs!”
The legs were burned away. Barely even stumps left.
“No no no. You can not leave.” Gray used Quick Attack combined with Arm Thrust. His fist went right through the Pokemon’s spine. Reaching up, he grabbed its face. “I am still upset. I can not knowingly take the info from you. Instead of the souls inside. It is against the rules. So how about you tell me what I need to no.”
Gray was pulling the souls inside himself at an alarming rate. The souls were to tender for him to check for info. Mostly likely dissipate if he tried.
“I cannot tell you. I will b punished if I do.” Gourgeist pleaded. “You can not kill someone who surrenders. That is against the rules.” Gray squinted at it. Brow furrowed as he opened his hand nd grabbed the neck. Gourgeist stared at the hand covered in its blood.
“about that. You see I have a few more rules that are different than the others. That one does not apply to me.” Gray said sinerstly. Feeling the last soul enter inside him, he acted. “Goodbye, thanks for letting me know their is a traitor somewhere.”
“Mmmfpf!” Gray’s hand muffled the pokemon as he covered the mouth. He placed his other hand at the back of the skull and tried to take what he could. ‘No!’ Gourgeist screamed mentally in defiance. Gray was not gentle as he dug inside its mind.
Nothing valuable was obtained. Its resistance was to high or Arceus sealed it to well.
Ripping the Pokemon apart and burning the remains, Gray looked towards the few survivors that came over escorted by his Pokemon. He did not want to let the outside know about the massive loss of life in here just yet. Plans already in motion to do something about it. A way to fix it.
“Hopefully Erika has a good enough solution. Or enough information to help.” Gray looked at the frail young woman.
-Afterward-
“I did not plan this I promise.” Erika said. “My Vileplume found a little boy about a half year ago. He stumbled into an area he shouldn’t have. A pokemon that needed to be left alone was their recuperating. Gourgeist.” She said flatly. Looking at the dead Pokemon she felt bad still. But also angry. “Gourgeist had latched onto the boy and fed off him.”
“Why all of this though?” Gray looked around. Several rescue teams in suits moved about checking things over. The material of the suits were quite durable. A Bellsprout attacked still confused. The vine didnt even make a tear in the clothing. “What was it planning to do?”
“Replace us.” Erika said. She shuddered at the loss of her friends thinking about it. “I sent my Pokemon to get help, but I guess it was to late. Or they did not get far.”
“One did.” A nurse Joy walked over. She released a Pokemon. Out popped a very damaged Vileplume. “I found her a few months ago. Treating her was my priority. I couldnt tell it was yours until a little while ago. The odd things were that their was no id tied to her.”
“It is because I never captured this Vileplume.” Erika held her old friend happily. The few tears and cuts made her wince, but she did not let go. “I am so sorry.”
“If you want, I can heal her. But you would have to give up your aura.” Gray offered. Erika agreed instantly. Walking over he took every drop of aura she had and sent a bit back to heal her vitality. He then circled the Vileplume with it. “That should be better.”
Gray took her aura to make her live a normal life. She had been through enough and a lot of trouble had been caused because of it. The circling of the Vileplume was to make sure it was ok. And not under the influence of anything.
“As for your friends..” Gray stretched his hands out grabbing hold of the pods. “Please Work with me!”
Several of his blessings lit up. The most important was the Gold Gate. A few of the souls he took from Gourgeist were strong enough to come back. A few were to damaged to bring back completely. But a coma was better than death.
Slowly a golden aura engulfed the pods and created fresh bodies for the people. Gray then destroyed the pods completely and sucked everything inside them away. Small traces of Arcus aura was then wiped away.
“Mom!” A young trainer called. He ran over to his mother and hugged her. The others following suit.
“Whew!” Gray wiped his brow and took a deep breath. “Better than what could have happened.”
Inspector Chase was busy writing his report. He was glad he didn’t fight Gourgeist. He heard the screams of the Pokemon and the laughter from Gray. It unnerved him a good bit. He also took note how viciously Gray’s pokemon attacked. But also how hard they defended people.
‘This trainer is something else. Gonna have to keep tabs on him. If he becomes a dark trainer, things will go south really quickly.’ Inspector Chase made sure not to include the body creation in his report. ‘How in the world would I explain this?!’
-Galar Region-
“Chairman!” An official called out. But it was to late. The trainer broken trainer N snatched the man up and took off with him. All over several people were engulfed in Dynamax’s raw energy. “Time to go!”
“What about the others?” A trainer asked.
“What about them?” The official stared with venom at his region champion. “All he had to do was strike down the chairman or that blasted Pokemon. We would not be in this mess. Our top priority is making sure to save as many people as we can now.”
“Move move!” A young lady with white hair yelled. She was directing several students in her area to flee to the copters with their Pokemon. They left and made it just in time. “Take off now!”
As they flew up with the countless others, several people cried from the energy turning the area into stone.
It was then Bea spotted something down below. Two of the other Gym leaders were using their auras to push back the Dynamax effect. They were to exhausted to keep it up after all the fighting.
“We cannot risk everyone else. But I can not leave them behind.” She dived out of the copter and head towards the break point in the wave. “Mega Punch!”
Cloaked in the last of her aura she smashed against the wave. The sheer force of her power pushed the Dynamax energy back creating a whirlwind of energy. She spared a look to the others.
They knew she couldn’t get up. Bea gestured towards the people. So many needed help. The others nodded and turned. They ran as fast as they could with the people behind them.
“Wooom!” A much larger energy wave headed straight for Bea.
“I do not want to die yet!” Bea punched the ground in frustration. Time slowed down as a murky brown light came down to her. “Huh? What are you?”
“I do not have a name yet.” The little light turned into a brown Mew. This little Mew’s tribal markings were black however. With a gold outline. “But you seem like a nice person. But you also are a fighter. If you agree. I can save you.”
The little brown Mew floated around on it’s back in wonder. It found Bea based on her actions and her inner voice. As well as a voice that spoke to it from far away.
“Agree to what?” Bea looked around and could see the area starting to speed back up. “Just as long as it isn’t evil. I am game!”
“Evil is subjective. You will head to my Father.” The Mew floated into her and slowly restored her vitality. ‘He needs people like you.’
“Hup!” Bea jumped away from the area. She ran towards any other people she could detect. ‘What is your father’s name?’
‘Hmm, he has two. One is Gray and the other is Lucifel.’ The little Mew felt that helping the people was not a bad idea. Slowly its thought and emotions started to speed up. It developed a sense of self faster. ‘Ahh a girl. That is what you are. I will be a girl to then.’
Bea almost tripped at that. She may be a tomboy but she didnt think she lacked any feminine charm. Seeing a few injured people she was suprised with she felt her thoughts created a bubble. The people were then picked up and floated along behind her. The Mew was helping her.
“Ok that is new.” Bea used the move Agility to give herself more speed. She went from 80 miles an hour to a 120 in no time. The people in the bubble long since fainted. “Alright we save some people then we talk.” Pumped up, she dashed across the area heading in a slight zig zag direction.
‘Ok!’ The little Mew said happy. She was energized and felt that helping people was what she was born to do. ‘We will save bunches!’
– Evacuation Copters-
“How did it all go so wrong?” A burly young man asked. Across from him, were several league officials. They had nothing to say. “We had the most peaceful region and the most flourishing. No Team Magma, Aqua, Galactic, and certainly no Team Rocket.”
“What are you trying to say?”
“We were almost a Utopia. Besides a few punks hear and there. And even they didnt do anything to crazy.” Forrest was angry. Unbelievably so. His eyes drifted to the horizon as he thought what they could do about things. “Tch, make preparations to head to Neo Kanto. They are the most use to calamities.”
“Understood.” The pilot said. Several of the copters changed course. A few kept on their way to other regions per protocol.
‘To think you would falter my rival.’ Raihan looked angrily at the former champion. ‘To think we would even lose the new champion in this as well.’
“Babump! Babump!” Raihan clenched his chest tightly. He was to close to the incident when it started. The Dynamax energy had poisoned him.
“Damn it Raihan!” Nessa ran to him. “Why didnt you say anything?” She stared hard at him to keep from worry showing on her face. ‘We can not lose another Gym Leader!’
“Thump!” Another body dropped.
“Milo!” Another official called. Milo had collapsed. A quick checked showed it was only from exhaustion. This allayed some of the fears of the others.
“Chhkk!” The radio on the copter went off. “Mayday! Mayday. Abo.. iut. .. is a traitor. I repeat, Kaho urrk!” The line went dead.
“Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!” Several copters exploded in the distance. The one headed to Johto region specifically went up in flames.
“Those copters.. they had..” An official barely uttered.
“Woosh!” A woman floated over.
“They had the Pokemon Nursery and the new Pokemon Recovery machines.” A woman covered in blood landed on the copter rail. An official pulled her in quickly. Instantly her aura energy depleted. “I am so tired… so sorry.” She collapsed face first.
“Even Melony is down.” The Lady Opal said saddened. ‘Hah. Agatha was right. Our gym leaders are to weak. To babied by the environment of Galar. They know nothing of hardships or strife.’ She looked over to the former Champion Leon. “What will he do upon getting up I wonder?”
“What is going on with him?” Nessa asked. She was still tending to Raihan but noticed Leon was sweating a lot.
“Ugh!” Leon grunted and stood up. Before anybody could stop him, he opened the door and left the helicopter. “Raaaaah!”
Leon was doused in Dynamax light. The others couldn’t make out the form as he shot off.
“Tch!” Bea clicked her teeth as she ran across the ocean. A few hundred thousand people trailed behind her in psychic bubbles. She looked up at the large energy moving. “Cant do anything about that. Wish we had more rescue helicopters.”
“Chish!” As if answering her call, several helicopters teleported in.
A few trainers jumped out and floated down to help. Each of them a psychic type.
“Hey, need a hand?” A young man asked Bea.
“Yes.” Bea answered promptly. “Who are you, people?”
“Rescue Team from Lavender town. We received the mayday while passing through. Just finished up from a dungeon.” The young man created a psychic bridge from four bubbles to a helicopter carrier. “Name is..”
“Talk later. People more important!” Bea said as she got to work. She helped push the people up, then shot back towards the bots that were leaving. Several needed help to get clear.
“Was gonna say Sean Saffron. Nice to meet you two.” The young man shoulders drooped for a bit. He then remembered he had some work to do. “Ah well. Time to get to work. I wonder how sis is doing?”
