An Unseemly Lady - Chapter 1
!!!UNFINISHED AND UNEDITED CHAPTER!!!
I just realized that wuxiaworld already translated the first chapter of the light novel that I stopped translating halfway. Please check their work. Any similarities on the translation are purely coincidental.
Please proceed to Chapter 2.
ㅡDaiyu
The sparrow was chirping, the sunlight was shining.
Usually, waking up with the combination of the two is surprising.
Yeah, usually.
“Our cute Lili.”
I must wake up now.
A familiar voice that resembles a bell called into my ear.
I proceeded to open my eyes, gently rubbing my palms against them.
With my eyes adjusting from my hazy vision, an unfamiliar lady appeared smiling at me.
“Hey, sleepyhead.”
She mumbled, gently pinching my cheeks.
Although she continued to pinch my cheeks, her touch was light and playful.
My cheeks are really soft.
“Hello, sister.”
Today, you look unbelievably beautiful.
I glanced at her and smiled.
The name of the lady in front of me is Yulianne Blanchett. Her nickname is ‘Lia’.
She is a very known lady: popular in the empire and a famous graduate from Delir Academy.
She is the heroine of this world.
ㅡ ㅡ ㅡ
To make things short, I was transmigrated to a book. I know it is cliché, but I was really transmigrated.
To be frank, I never imagined that this would happen to me.
I was not in an accident or even trying to take my life.
I was just going to Jeju Island to find the error in my friend’s novel that they wrote one time in class.
I just took a nap after. Really, that is all.
Eventually when I opened my eyes, I found myself in a completely different world. It was the exact same novel I have read before I lost consciousness.
“Lilianne!”
I assumed I was having one of those deep dreams when I saw a few westerners surrounding me. I thought I have not been able to wake up yet.
I tried pinching my cheeks but it only left me in pain.
If this is not a dream, then this is reality.
“… Who are you?”
Everyone was left in shock from my statement.
Luckily, they seem to conclude that losing memories was one of the repercussions of having this body bedridden for a long time of being sick.
So, I continuously pretend to have lost my memories as I gather information about this world.
The name Yulianne Blanchett, the novel, the characters of the novel, and even Delir Academy and other places.
I was now pretty certain that everything was from the novel.
Going back to the main point, I, ‘Lilianne Blanchett’, was Yulianne Blanchett’s younger sibling.
By younger I mean having a ten-year age difference.
“Lili, eat your carrots.”
Yulianne, who is now my sister, reprimanded me.
I appears as if I am unconsciously excluding the said vegetable out.
I nodded my head and beamed.
“Yes, Eonni[1].”
I am not actually a picky-eater it just seems as if I am, in fact I do eat carrots.[2]
After speaking, I immediately devoured the carrots. Yulianne, no Lia, smiled proudly.
I paused what I am doing for moment and stared at my sister.
Wow, she is really pretty.
Why am I only the younger sister?
Why can’t I be one of the lead characters?
‘Well, that is the problem.’
I narrowed my eyes.
This novel with the heroine Yulianne Blanchett, has the reverse harem romance-fantasy as its genre.
Well, the novel itself was almost considered as romantic-comedy.
However, the problem lies in the trashy personality of the original male lead.
Of course, a person have to be really nice up until they got married. Since this is considered a reverse harem, he needs to compete and outshine the other candidates.
As soon as they got married, misunderstandings came in that he ended up almost abandoning and despising Yulianne. He would only even realize that he still loves her after resolving the said misunderstanding. For now, he would still go and fool around with other women.
With that attitude, how can he be the male lead?
I would never allow their marriage.
“Lili, eat the carrots even if you do not like it. You cannot get sick again.”
Lia said in an absolute serious tone. Maybe she thought my sour expression was due to me eating the carrots.
“Yes!”
I changed my expression in a snap and grinned.
Like what I said, I will be against their marriage.
If this what will happen then I swear to protect my sister!
ㅡ ㅡ ㅡ
Yulianne Blanchett has four male friends. Each of them are the male lead candidates.
From their days in the academy up until five years later, which is the present time.
The original male lead, Robain Cleone, was one of the.
Why am I discussing about this right now? Well…
“Robain, it’s been a while.”
Robain, the original male lead, is in the Blanchett mansion as we speak.
Right, it started out like this.
In the novel, having a problem on succeeding the title, Robain then tried to convince Yulianne to act as his fiancée.
The first scene in the novel.
I watching this scene unfold right before my very eyes.
My legs swung back and forth as I sat down the living room settee.
The original Lilianne, however, never appeared in this scene.
In fact, Lilianne never appeared at all. She would only be mentioned from time to time during Yulianne’s reminiscing monologue with ‘Lili would have liked this’.
Maybe because the storyline continued in Robain’s household.
But if you are transmigrated in a book, won’t you want to twist the original?
“… That child, your sister?”
Robain asked, staring at me.
“Ah, yes. Lili, say hello for me.”
Yulianne gently patted my head.
I decided pretending to look naïve as I blinked my eyes and opened my mouth.
“Hello, ahjussi[3].”
“Ahjussi?”
Robain’s brows furrowed.
The look of disbelief and embarrassment grew within his golden eyes.
You are more than ten years older than me. Were you expecting me to call you ‘oppa[4]’?
I would never allow that.
“My name is Lilianne Blanchett, I am eight years old.”
I gave him a grin.
Robain blinked a few times, awkwardly opening his mouth to speak.
“Your little sister… She really does looks like you.”
“What? Lili is cuter.”
“No, unlike everyone else you look more mature. Uh, what I mean she’s… Cute, right. Cute.”
He stuttered his words nonstop while nodding his head.
Why are you falling for how cute am I? I rolled my eyes at him.
I did not find Robain’s reaction strange or anything else. Lilianne was indeed cute, even for me I find her really cute.
She is, afterall, the younger sister of Yulianne: the most beautiful lady in this novel. It’s in their genes.
Lilianne has sparkling silver eyes with pink hair that is like cotton candy. Her facial features are very delicate and pretty that it goes well with her soft cheeks.
Frankly, her, well my, appearance is adored by everyone else. It was such a dazzling and attractive face. I even went on to adore my face for a few minutes in front of a mirror.
Though it was not as good as Yulianne.
I moved my gaze towards Lia, who was just beside me.
She really is beautiful. My precious sister too delicate to be given away to a fool.
“I do not reckon you ever mentioning about having a sister.”
“On the contrary, I remember mentioning it quite a few times.”
Yulianne replied with a wry smile, giving out a look of dismay.
Okay, that may be a slip of a tongue on his part.
I did not plan on doing anything at all, but I am well aware that my presence here is enough to change the story.
Let us intervene then. This is going into my favor. I am going to meddle with everything, enough to free my sister from you.
“My apologies, I must have forgotten.”
“No, it is fine. To be fair, the truth is that I do not talk about her very often.”
Yulianne spoke as she lifted the teacup. That simple moves makes her look graceful and refined.
With great adoration, Robain continued to stare at her.
You creepy bastard stop staring. I swear I am going to hit you.
[1] Eonni/Unnie is a term that younger girls use to call an older girl. Can be directly translated into ‘older sister’.
[2] In the raws it was simply “I actually eat carrots.” But my Korean friend told me to add more context. Phrases or sentences in Hangeul makes more sense but when translated into English it often feels as if lacking.
[3] Ajeossi/Ahjussi can be roughly translated into uncle or mister. There is no exact translation for it but something to call a male stranger around their 30s-40s.
[4] Oppa is a term that younger girls use to call an older guy. Can be directly translated as ‘older brother’.
