- Chapter 924: T.D.O.N.B: S15C, Part IX - Hero's Landing
Unfortunately for Hailwic, the other alien joined too, and her fight got way more complicated. Despite that, she desperately tried to keep both of them from Martin, who already was fishing for an opportunity to contribute.
Going against two forced her to switch to a defensive stance. She lost all momentum and was struggling to deflect or dodge each strike, eventually just retreating. As she did that, she activated all the marks, and the world in front of her exploded with bright blue energy.
Panting heavily she landed next to the giant. It was impossible to see what was ahead because of the massive cloud of dust, that quickly also enveloped my friends. They did the right thing and retreated even further.
When it disappeared a moment later, there was no sign of guardians either. As if they vanished alongside the dust.
Both humans immediately started to look around to find them, but they couldn’t spot anything. Just Will is far ahead in the sky, still battling with a whole group.
A second turned into two, two turned into four, and four turned into eight. It was a whole eternity as everything around me was happening so fast. The unknown made both of them feel anxious. They were not wrong.
Suddenly two arms shot from underground grabbing Hailwic’s legs and immobilizing her. A fraction of a second later, the lancer appeared from underground. He pierced back aboveground, while leaping, ready to strike with his weapon.
Martin was quick to react, he slammed him like a tennis ball with his morgenstern. The sound of the gong filled the area, as he was blasted away, but he did something too.
He used the lance to shoot the laser beam at the immobilized Hailwic. It was thin but concentrated. Very potent. Enough to burn through the ground around, as it was trying to focus on her, but didn’t. It only passed through her abdomen briefly.
It was enough to cut through the armor. She screamed out of pain.
A stimulus, strong enough for Martin to go beyond anything he did before. While she was falling to the ground several lightning struck the area around isolating a round space. They didn’t vanish though. Instead, they stuck in position, turning into pillars of electrical energy, surging down directly from the sky.
The whole gravity turned into a shitshow. Some things were flying, others not. At the same moment, he also released his armor. The chunks of thick metal stayed around, levitating, connected to him with electrical discharges, like little threads.
He was butt naked since the clothes he was wearing under the armor burned already because of the heat unleashed by Sanders. He was bleeding heavily from the wound on his side, but despite that, he attacked.
Both Hailwic and the axe-man who grabbed her feet were ejected into space, but the alien didn’t fly too far away. The pieces of Martin’s heavy armor flew after him, slamming into his body, quickly encapsulating him, then dragged him back.
The lancer, on the other side of the electrical arena, was also struggling to move. We were in midair, unable to do anything, including pushing himself away by kicking the air. Nothing seemed to work in this special place, indicating clearly that only Martin was in control.
He was enraged. His blue eyes, with energy surging in the iris showed fury. His muscle tensed like he himself was enduring the electricity flowing through, with the veins on full display. This made the wound bleed terribly, but he didn’t seem to care.
He launched the ball of metal pieces, tightly wrapped around the axeman, like a shot from a magnetic cannon. It hit the lancer badly, smashing alongside him into the end of the round arena, but all of them, including the metal, couldn’t pass any further. Magnetic force prevented them from this.
Even from such a distance one could hear the dense bones snapping loudly.
For martin, it was not enough. Screaming with rage he spread his arms wide. It was hard because of the state of his muscles, but he somehow forced the body to do his bidding. Then he pushed, and all the pillars of energy moved with his hands, focusing solely on the target. Two guardians.
They melted anything in their way, finally uniting in a single beam, that could only exist for a brief moment before imploding, sending a crushing wave of electricity around that didn’t spare anything. It devastated the megalopolis around, even reaching the already melted plaza.
I know that very well because I was hit by it.
Martin collapsed on his knees, bleeding from his eyes, mouth, and ears, but mostly from the gaping wound in his side. Butt naked.
He was trying to move towards her, but the body refused. Hailwic’s guts were exposed. She was already seizing with the remaining little bit of life. She tried to say something, but her lips could barely move.
It was looking like the end for the two…
Then Will smashed into the ground right next to them. Full hero landing with all the pompous glory. The shining halo above his head, the white wings, and everything.
– Save her! – Martin squeezed through his gritted teeth.
Mister angel didn’t discuss it, the immediately placed his hands on her, dumping loads of life force inside. The wound was closing, but it needed a second or two to prevent the life-threatening danger.
Unfortunately, it didn’t seem like they had this much time. There were already two guardians Will fought with before flying at them, with a barrage of spells following.
At the same moment. I consumed the fruit, and I felt the surge of energy flowing through my body. I was so deep in the lava, that only the tops of my fingers were still touching the device.
You would think, that this would stop the guardians from continuing the attack. Or at least confuse them enough to but sometimes, they didn’t even stop for a fraction of a second.
