- Chapter 932: T.D.O.N.B: S1J, Part I - The Prison Of Mirrors
Even before we reached the dome we were assaulted by a barrage of spells, laser beams, and even objects thrown at us. I tried to avoid it, but the attacks were too accurate, and even at our speed it wasn’t easy to dodge, especially when I had to change the direction so much to do it.
– I’m gonna throw you! – I shouted to Druoag before grabbing him and swinging the whole alien further to the side of the planet while locking myself in a single spot.
The speed of the bubble, combined with the addition of my raw power, gave him a lot of power. He was quite lucky too, as I was the main target of the enemy, and most of the stuff went my way.
I made some plates for myself, and quickly ejected some defenses, mainly telekinesis, then had to force my way through all the shit being thrown at me. To put it in a single sentence – I didn’t even arrive and was already in shit up to my knees.
The progress of the situation was remarkably terrible, leading to quite obvious doom, but I still tried to somehow make it.
The telekinetic defenses got broken quite quickly, but I managed to put up a makeshift barrier, and with that somehow reached the dome. As soon as I passed through, the barrier shattered.
Thankfully, at that point, I could actually see the sources of the attacks. The number of guardians wasn’t actually that big. Smaller than on the previous planet, but their strength was several times bigger. I didn’t spot any overlords, though.
Since I also wasn’t able to see the plaza with the tree, I could easily mean that they were closer to that spot.
With the visuals, I somehow closed the distance, running at a fast pace, with each step sending so much force below, that the city was getting torn to shreds, then I blasted the first alien I was able to spot.
Those seemed to be different from any I spotted before. I couldn’t tell much about them, except that they were vaguely shaped as humans, the rest was obscured by armor. Different colors, but everything gave me the same plastic-like vibe indicating some type of artificially made material.
One punch and there was nothing left of my target, while even the ones remotely close got affected by the shockwave.
Ignoring all the magic, thrown at me, and just pushing forward, I was able to clear most of the enemies, while taking significant damage. I just dumped a bit of healing energy into myself, then followed the red arrow, heading for the plaza.
The sheer speed of my running was able to take me away from the attacks of those who were still left alive. But further another group awaited me, and I actually had to fight with them.
Taking some more damage, to the point I was bleeding from my mouth due to some internal damage, I killed them, wasting only half a minute. Then I headed towards the plaza once again, just to be stopped abruptly by a beam of laser that fell off the sky, burning the city below on its way to find me.
It was too slow to actually get me, but enough for me to stop in order to find the culprit who used such a powerful attack. It was another man of very similar biology and visuals to the overlord in red.
His attire was similar too, but except for the uniform, he also had a cape and a small black cane with a golden ball on top as a handle.
I tried to close the distance to him, but suddenly a prison of barriers reflecting myself appeared around me. It looked like a labyrinth of mirrors with the repeating visuals of me, getting smaller and smaller.
The obvious solution was to shadow walk out, but I couldn’t really do that. I punched the barrier but only got blasted by my own attack. The next idea was to use a ray of energy to melt the damn thing, but it only was reflected at me once again, burning the precious oxygen, which I, fortunately, could replenish with some air magic.
– Idiot – I name-called myself because although the solution wasn’t that obvious, it was there.
After all, I was quite an expert in barriers myself, so I could deconstruct that stupid prison. I focused, placing my hand on the mirror, feeling the way the magic flew through it, and trying to understand the design. Then I shattered it attacking the weak links, making the whole thing fall apart, just to be blasted in the face by a building thrown at me.
It pushed me away, but I locked myself in a single spot, while just enduring the breaking construction material on my body, as I prepared a payback.
I lost my blade, but I still had the golems in my vault, and they all were armed with different types of weapons. One of them had a worse version of my pudao, which I took from him.
As soon as I could, I swung, but he avoided the strike by moving away so fast that it looked like he blinked in space. Only to get slashed in the face. The attack was sponsored by the ‘Hunting strike’, and worked well.
Blood appeared on his face. He lost the cap, and the red uniform was cut open all the way from his neck, to the left side of his torso.
On my face, on the other hand, appeared a grin. “It’s on”, I thought to myself, before charging ahead.
He tried to pull me down with some psychic energy, but I locked myself in a single spot before he could do much, then struck him again from the distance. This time he tried to block the attack with a barrier, but the ‘Hunting strike’ found a way to reach him, mirroring the previous strike.
This made the alien show me his teeth in a display of fury.
