Apocalypse: I Can Level Up Everything - Chapter 36
Wu Peng was elated when he saw how impressive the robot was.
In the beginning, he’d thought that the robot would be a dumb steel plate. He didn’t expect the robot to be more agile than a human.
He would only be able to improve his fighting technique by constantly sparring with experts.
In the past, much less in this post-apocalyptic world, it was hard to find a powerful expert willing to train with you every day.
Wu Peng immediately started a harsh training regimen with the combat training robot.
Elsa was also attracted by the robot. She saw how hard Wu Peng was sweating and training and opted to join in.
She couldn’t always depend on Wu Peng for protection. Her enemies hadn’t been eliminated yet, and Viper was still doing evil around the city.
“Elsa, don’t push yourself too hard. Be careful not to get injured,” Wu Peng quickly reminded her goodnaturedly when he saw Elsa’s face turn red as she lifted her dumbbells.
“It’s fine! I have to get stronger too. I have to exact revenge for my parents when I encounter those people in the future!”
Wu Peng nodded with satisfaction when he saw how determined Elsa was.
Wu Peng liked suave and strong girls more than weak ones.
“Since that’s the case, I’ll teach you how to shoot.”
Wu Peng went to the production station and made a Glock 17 for Elsa.
The handgun had a smaller caliber and not a lot of kickback, but it still delivered in terms of power, and its magazine could be modified so it could hold more bullets. This made it a very suitable weapon for Elsa.
He took Elsa out of the shelter and set up an easy target.
Wu Peng started teaching her what he knew about shooting a gun and various techniques.
Unexpectedly, Elsa quickly caught one. She was rather talented when it came to shooting.
In just two days, she managed to score above 90 points with ten bullets.
As long as she honed her skills in actual combat, Elsa would become an exceptional marksman.
Wu Peng needed an able assistant. After all, all heroes need a sidekick.
Even though it was cool to be a lone wolf, he wouldn’t be able to fight against multiple enemies on his own.
Wu Peng considered his options, then decided to teach Elsa how to fly the Bird scouting drone.
In the future, Elsa would be able to fly the Bird to scout the surroundings, even if he wasn’t at home.
And they might even be able to go on missions together when she got stronger.
Elsa completely mastered all of the techniques for controlling the Bird in just half a day.
Like a child who’d just gotten a new toy, she happily controlled the Bird and flew it all around Jiang City.
Wu Peng trained with the combat training robot to improve his fighting techniques and lifted weights to increase his strength every day for the next few days.
He would rest after his workout and then help Elsa with her shooting outside of the shelter.
At night, Wu Peng would control the Bird to scout the surroundings to prevent members of Viper from launching a surprise attack against the shelter.
He didn’t find anything abnormal for countless days, and he gradually let down his guard.
He was in the middle of flying the Bird around the shelter when Elsa suddenly ran out of her room.
“Brother Peng! I saw a few people. They’re dressed like those guys.”
Wu Peng knew that the “guys” Elsa was referring to was Viper.
He immediately fetched Elsa’s phone from her and saw four of Viper’s men sneakily digging into a short building.
The building was only two kilometers away from the shelter. Wu Peng remembered that no one was living there, so why were the people from Viper sneakily entering that building?
He suddenly remembered Viper’s shelter in the ruins of the shopping mall and immediately wondered if that spot was another one of their gathering points.
“I’ve finally caught you again. I’ll have to get you to pay me back for my injured arm!”
Wu Peng immediately went to the production station and found the option to produce weapons.
He scrolled through the catalog many times before spending 80 points on an HK416 automatic rifle.
Even though the AK-47 was sturdy and durable, not that many accessories could be attached to it.
Wu Peng often had to do battle in narrow alleys or indoors, so he needed a weapon that could be heavily modified to adapt to different battle scenarios.
A beam of white light flashed, and a brown rifle appeared in front of him.
However, this was just the start. Wu Peng accessed the accessories page and started modifying the HK416.
A holographic weapon sight, silencer, triangle grip, and a hanging grenade launcher. He produced all of the accessories that he could use.
Wu Peng then expertly equipped the accessories onto the rifle.
Wu Peng spent 300 points on the full set of weapons and bullets, spending all of the points he’d amassed during the past few days on the gun.
After he armed himself, Wu Peng prepared to head out to deal with the four people from Viper.
“Elsa, I’m going out for a moment. Take care of the shelter!”
Elsa gave a determined nod.
After Wu Peng left, Elsa steered the Bird and got it to follow behind Wu Peng.
When he came near the short building, Wu Peng connected to the Bird and flew it once around the building. He didn’t notice any scouts. Thus, he crouched down and moved over to the side of the main door.
He carefully peeked into the building. He didn’t notice anything strange, so he slipped into the building through the crack in the door.
The building was dead silent, as if no one was living there.
However, Wu Peng knew that Viper would build their meeting point underground.
He searched the building for a little while and, as he’d expected, found a manhole cover.
He reached out to tug at the manhole cover, but it didn’t move. It looked like it was locked from the inside.
The Bird had seen four people just now. However, there might be more people at the meeting point.
Wu Peng didn’t dare to barge into the base. He chose to squat near the manhole cover and guard the area.
Based on his understanding of Viper, they were most active at night.
After Wu Peng waited for almost two hours, a sound suddenly came from the manhole cover as it was pushed open from the inside.
This person was very cautious. He peeked out and looked around, then nimbly slipped out of the hole after ascertaining that nothing was amiss.
Wu Pent wasn’t in a hurry to shoot. He held his breath and waited for everyone to come out.
After the first member of Viper checked out the area, three other people came out behind him. There were four of them—the same number of Viper members he’d seen that evening.
Wu Peng chose to lie low. He had to wait until these people were further away from the meeting point.
He sneakily followed behind the four-man group and tailed them for nearly a kilometer.
“It seems like these people are advancing to where the meteor fell. Could it be that Viper wants to snatch the fragments of the meteor tonight too?”
Wu Peng decided to take action. He had to quickly eliminate these four people and head to where the meteor had fallen to take a look.
At this moment, the enemies had just walked into an open field.
Wu Peng crouched down on the ground and aimed at one of Viper’s members. He rehearsed the sequence of shots in his head and took a deep breath to slow his heart rate, then pulled the trigger.
The HK416 automatic rifle performed excellently. Its recoil was much less than that of the AK-47.
Furthermore, the rifle was equipped with a silencer, so only a clapping sound was heard before the bullet pierced through the member of Viper’s head.
“There’s an ambush!”
The members of Viper immediately reacted, and the remaining three people crouched onto the ground and started searching for Wu Peng’s position.
However, Wu Peng had expected all of this. Without hesitation, he started attacking them, just like he’d rehearsed in his head.
A member of Viper who had just crouched down on the ground got shot in the face and died on the spot.
Because of the silencer, the sound and flare from the shot were kept to a minimum.
The surviving members of Viper still couldn’t find Wu Peng’s position.
