Apocalypse Respawn - Chapter 44 Chapter 44
Within the first hour, we spent inside the dungeon we have found some survivors.
They were hiding inside of one of the Subway stations Newsstands.
There was a total of 16 people in this group of survivors and they had apparently escaped into the newsstand and then pulled down the Metal Curtain so they stayed inside of it till now.
A subway station is a place in New York that has a damn lot of Zombies.
You might wonder why there would be so many Zombies when the Apocalypse started at midnight. But the thing is that New York is a city that never sleeps the subway is open 24/7 so there is always people in the subway.
When the subway station has people turn into zombies all of the people there are going to turn. Almost none can get away from there unless they are a Person with an ESP power or are extremely lucky to be near the Exit. Even then the chance of surviving in the Subway at the time of the apocalypse is close to 1%.
Manhattan has a lot of people who use the Subway’s at night the reason for this is their night jobs or maybe they are coming back from a Bar. Most people who live in Manhattan don’t have a car. The reason isn’t that they can’t afford it but because there is a subway. There is also a lot of people who simply live inside of it. There are a lot of homeless who use Trains as a Shelter. The reason for this is that the subways are never closed and its a good place to beg for money.
I look at the 16 people here and then think about what I should do with them.
There isn’t much time until the Apocalypse’s BETA period ends so I’m not going to waste my time bringing them up to my base. For the time it takes to get up there and then back down here is going to take up too much time.
I barely have enough time as it is so I’m not going to waste on these unknown strangers.
“I don’t have time to bring you back to the surface right now. I still have something important to do.”
“What but your the Police! What do you mean you can’t bring us up the surface!”
“Yeah, this place is dangerous. You have to bring us back up.”
“Exactly, you can’t be so irresponsible!”
I looked at the rowdy crew of people whose mouths just when on and on nonstop.
I simply took out my gun and pointed it at them.
“Shut the Fuck up.”
“…”
The crowd of people quickly turned silent.
I mean anyone would when a gun is suddenly pointed at them.
That was until a man said.
“He’s bluffing, he won’t dare shoot us. He’s only one man, there are 16 of us. If we can get his gun then we can get back to the surface ourselves.”
The moment these words were uttered the looks on the faces of the people there changed.
Their eyes showed their greed for the Gun in my hands.
I, on the other hand, was completely calm.
I had sort of expected this for this is only the first day of the Apocalypse. But still, it kind of pisses me off.
I simply aimed the gun at the lag of the man who was shouting and shot.
The moment the gunshot rang out, all the people crowding around backed away.
There was only the screaming of curses and cries of pain coming out of the mouth of the man who was shot.
“You Fucker! Do you know what your doing is a crime! I’ll fucking sue you for this you messed up bastard.”
I fired another shot at the other leg of the man.
“First of all, I’m not a Cop. So I don’t care if your dead or alive. I will also tell you this, the ground above is also full of Zombies just like here. The whole world has turned into this. So you can sue me all you want but I think you won’t have much luck doing that.”
All the others shudder after hearing what I said.
I mean they probably already knew that this was the case but were most likely trying to not believe in it.
For it has only been but a single day since they got trapped here. Although the Zombies outside were scary it had nothing to do with them as long as they stayed inside the Newsstand and stayed quiet.
They were waiting for the police or special forces to save them trying not to imagine that the entire world has gone to hell.
But with me telling them the truth straight forward like this, there belief in the government going to save them had just gone up in smoke.
I look at the man who was screaming curses my way and then looked at my sister. My sister was putting on a calm face but I could see that she was shuddering.
I look at her and then pass her the gun.
“Shut him up.”
Her eyes went wide.
“Brother!?”
“You’ve got to get used to this. The man is also causing a lot of noise which is attracting the Zombies Attention. So please shut him up.”
Her face quickly turns into one of fear and her calm demeanor which she was trying to put up broke.
“Brother… but he’s still a human, it’s not right…”
My sister has never killed anyone before like most people before the apocalypse.
Although in this hour of practicing with the Gun she had killed a couple of Zombies never did she think she would have to kill a living person so suddenly.
“The world has already turned into this mess, do you think it would matter if he’s human or not? Zombies were also human, they only turned from the living into the dead. There isn’t much of a difference.”
“But he’s alive!”
“That doesn’t matter. The only thing that matters is whether or not its an enemy. He was just riling up this group of survivors to attack up and steal our gun. What do you think would have happened if it wasn’t us. They would likely have stolen the gun and maybe even have killed to get it.”
“Brother…”
“Is he an enemy?”
