Aria’s Tales - Chapter 16 2.1 Unfallen The Fallen
Aria’s heart was beating rapidly. She could feel a sense of familiarity with the red thread as if it was … Shen Yan?
She slapped her forehead. Had she gone crazy? There was no way that was possible!
She stared at the red thread that stubbornly clung around her wrist. She reached for it hoping to take it off, when the moment her fingers touched it, memories that were not hers abruptly flew past. One image was clearly of a different point of view of the day when she was married. The image had shown that the person was looking down at her in her wedding dress.
Aria’s lips were shaking as she stared in disbelief at the red thread. In the depths of her eyes, there was hope gradually coming to light. She reached for it for a second time and didn’t let go even when she felt excruciating pain to her soul.
After a while, she was gasping, looking worn out.
Aria was sure of it, the memories were Shen Yan’s. After all, some memories were vividly of her being pushed down on the bed. Who else would it have been but Shen Yan?
She was feeling both embarrassed and overjoyed at the moment. Now she just had to find a way for her to see her Yan ge again. But how?
Aria and Lily both looked through their memories, but after what seemed like an eternity of watching the longest movie, they still hadn’t found a clue much less find a way.
“Aria, why not bring him into another world?”
Lily’s suggestion was instantly rooted in Aria’s heart. She nodded her head up and down rapidly.
Then she no longer resisted the force that kept nudging her. And let it lead her soul unto the next world.
There were the sounds of birds chirping before Aria’s eyes fluttered open. She was lying face-flat on the bed in a wooden room wearing a black long-sleeve laced dress. There was a thin black collar in her neck, and on her feet, was an exquisite anklet that seemed to have been made out of dark metal. Aria shifted and tried to lay on her back when she felt a heavy weight near her shoulder blades. When she looked at what it was, black feathers entered her vision. She actually had black wings that occupied almost half the bed space.
She blinked her eyes in surprise. But that wasn’t important at the moment.
She glanced at her wrist and found that the red thread was gone! She quickly descended into panic. She jumped out of the bed and looked around, but she didn’t know what. Her heart was filled with fear of the idea that she might have lost the red thread.
‘Calm down Aria! I saw it submerging in your skin.’ Lily quickly said afraid that her unstable emotions might destroy another world again.
Aria’s fears were eased slightly. She felt her empty wrist and found that there didn’t seemed anything different. Still, Lily was telling the truth. Their souls were etched together so it was easy for both of them to know whether either of them was lying. But her brows still furrowed as she wondered what happened to the red thread.
Lily bounced on the bed that Aria had been laying on and amidst her jumps, she said, ‘I just got the full information. Are you ready~?’
Aria was brought back to reality from her deep thoughts. Then, she nodded.
Her new body was of a fallen angel called, Sevianna Louscatt. Her life was what Aria summarized as a tragic love story.
When Sevianna was born, her mother suddenly went missing. And her father, obsessed with her mother, blamed her for the disappearance. Because of this, she grew up not knowing what it felt to have loving parents. Her father was the chieftain of their village which made it even harder for her to get his attention.
Sevianna was just like any other angel – proud, justice-seeking, and blindly obedient to authority. Until one day, when she ventured out on her own and was caught by demons stronger than her. Fortunately, a human boy called Brand timely saved her. And like any other tragic love story, Sevianna fell for her saviour. Ever since that day she would venture out of town and meet up with Brand, gradually falling to the point that she would do anything that he wanted.
One day when Brand’s parents were killed by thieves. He begged Sevianna to help him get his revenge. Sevianna, as a justice-seeker, could not take such a crime lying down. So she helped him. And the result was what she had become.
She had fallen.
Distraught and scared, she went back to her town to find her father at the entrance. She hadn’t even had the chance to explain what happened when he unhesitatingly announced he was disowning her. Sevianna’s angelic views were soon shattered and her beliefs were getting disoriented. Coupled with the fact that she had fallen, she could no longer feel the need to aid, heal, and love.
But right as she was going to turn her back on everyone, Brand placed a slavery collar on her neck, binding her life to him.
Brand was actually a “hero” who was tasked to kill the demon king. The “thieves” that killed his parents were actually people from a different faction who sought to stop him from succeeding his mission so that the one they supported could get the honour instead. Brand needed all the strong forces he could get, and Sevianna, who was now a fallen angel, had retained her light powers and was now immune to dark attributes. In a sense, she was a cheat.
Because of this, Brand used her in every and any means possible.
Under Brand’s dangerous order, Sevianna died in the hands of one of the demon princes, the “bastard” child born from a devil and an angel.
But Sevianna held no grudge to that demon and had only felt gratitude instead. Because it was only in her death did Sevianna found her freedom.
Aria, now Sevianna, felt a headache coming as she hatefully adjusted her slavery collar. Her mood was only slightly improved when she found that Sevianna’s personality, after turning into a fallen angel, resembled about half of her true personality. At the very least, she could let loose some of her indignations.
She then took a look at Sevianna’s top three wishes.
Take back my freedom.
I want to be an angel again.
Make Brand fail his mission.
She could understand the other two but how was she going to turn back into an angel again? A vein bulged on her forehead though she suppressed the desire to erupt. It took her a great deal not to destroy the room just to vent her anger. It seems Sevianna was the total opposite to Mingyan. She was more straightforward in her emotions.
She decided to think about what she should do with the wishes later. First, she had to go to the library to see what this world had to offer about the red thread in her possession.
She caught the still bouncing Lily midair and got out of the room. While she headed down the hallway outside of her room in bare feet, she noticed her curly, black and white, floor-length hair, and her small stature that seemed to scream ‘gothic lolita’ in her aching mind. She also felt the annoyance of having to drag a heavy weight attached on her back.
So she said a quick spell that was spoken in this world’s ancient language, “retract wings.”
Her wings vanished making her look like any other human.
Brand’s party was currently at an inn in the Thelman Kingdom, which was famous among adventurers. In Sevianna’s memories, they were here as participants in the annual gladiator showdown. For the “hero” to have joined this showdown, it could be said that Brand really have a lot of factions working against him. This is a life and death showdown after all where there was only one winner.
When Sevianna came down to the lobby of the inn, the noise level abruptly died down. All eyes were fixed on the cutest loli they had ever seen. Sevianna looked just like a doll, but she didn’t even notice nor did she care about it at that moment.
She strode to the biggest and only library in the kingdom under everyone’s burning stares and quickly started to work with Lily in absorbing the world’s knowledge.
The structure of the library was of a tall tower. Inside, the books were lined up on the shelves attached against the wall. Sevianna, at the bottom floor, looked up and found that the books seemed to stretch beyond the sky. It was endless.
Her mouth couldn’t help but twitch. She turned to the male librarian wearing a blue magician’s robe, sitting behind the cubicle. “May I use magic for reading?”
The librarian paused. “The books must strictly stay here.” He said in a monotonic voice.
Sevianna nodded and used a simple flying magic to reach at least halfway through the tower. Then, she glowed white, which then led a couple of books to float around here. She had used a quick reading spell.
The poor librarian was stunned and stared at the glowing small figure, floating more than 20 feet above him, for almost an hour. He wished he could have the same skill to read all the books he wanted.
By the time Sevianna was at the last book, it was the day the gladiator showdown was scheduled. She had stayed in the library for more than three days.
Sevianna held a worn out old book to her chest like it was her treasure. It used a simple font for the title, “Earth.” She didn’t find the information she was looking for but she did find a book all about the world she was in previously. And she was dying to know more. Her eyes as she was flying all around in joy was full of nostalgia.
“Sevianna! Get down here!” A loud feminine voice echoed from the first floor.
Sevianna felt irritated at having been disturbed from her fantasies and looked down. She didn’t hide her irate and gloomy face.
There was a tall girl with green hair, tied into a ponytail, and blue arrogant eyes. She was also wearing a magician’s robe but it was of a lighter blue. The girl didn’t seem to like Sevianna’s expression and glared. “I said get down here!”
Sevianna’s eyes narrowed dangerously and a vicious look flashed on her face. She subtly placed pressure on the annoying girl. She had actually forgotten to remind herself that Brand’s party were all girls. That’s right, he had a harem. She added more strength into her pressure as her face twisted in disgust.
The girl was not strong physically, and even her magic couldn’t do anything to Sevianna’s strength
“That’s enough!!”
Suddenly there was a slight pain in her neck, causing her to cough up a little bit of blood. The pressure she exerted to the girl stopped while she slowly descended to the first floor. It was a male domineering voice that made her slavery collar react.
Sevianna’s anger intensified and hate, filled her eyes. She glared daggers at the red-head and black eyes guy who was slowly walking towards her. She sneered. “She started it.”
The guy furrowed her eyebrows in dissatisfaction. “Myla is weaker than you-”
“Then you take care of her mouth!” Sevianna immediately retorted. “You should know who I am, Brand. She’s your woman. Your responsibility.”
Brand seemed to have thought things differently once he heard her, and his expression softened. “Don’t be angry. I get it you’re stronger than them.” He had stopped just a few steps from Sevianna and reached out to pat her head.
But Sevianna slapped it away. Her red eyes glowed for a bit but she successfully restrained her murderous desire. “Don’t touch me.” Excuse me. That is exclusively for Yan ge.
