Aria’s Tales - Chapter 19 2.4 Unfallen The Fallen
“The name’s Deirgo, the oldest. Nice to meet you Sevianna!” The blue-haired guy said. Then he proceeded to name his brothers. Jaavin had the short and light blue hair, Olivan’s was curled and violet, while Kleid had a long indigo coloured hair.
“Jaavin’s the second, then Kleid, and our youngest, Olivan! We’re the Fetcher brothers~” He said with so much enthusiasm while expecting some kind of reaction from Sevianna. But he forgot. Sevianna’s reflected that of a statue, unchanging. He slumped on the window, depressed
“Sevianna Louscatt?” A deep, deep voice came from the person at the last carriage. His hair only fell short at his shoulders, and they were indigo, it was Kleid.
“Sevianna.” Sevianna retorted with her cold voice. “Just Sevianna.”
She no longer had the right to bear the family name since she had long been disowned by her own biological father. A raging flame burned in her eyes. The feeling was mutual. I never did have a father.
The atmosphere suddenly turned gloomy. Adounis glared warningly at Kleid who raised his hands in surrender. He just wanted to confirm his suspicion. Why did he almost got sentenced to death?
Time seemed to stagnate until a raged and in-disbelief voice boomed from behind Adounis and Sevianna.
“Sevianna! What are you doing?!”
It was Brand. His face etched into a deep frown, while sweat dripped down his forehead. He had been running around searching for Sevianna after his connection with the collar was lost. At this moment, he had a very bad feeling. His frown deepened when he saw her holding hands with a handsome man. He was so handsome that he actually felt inferior.
“Come here.” He said while adding magic into his voice.
But his expected outcome didn’t happen. The collar didn’t even lit up! He grew pale, and his knuckles had turned white.
Sevianna revelled at his terrible expression. She had to admit that she had been waiting for the day she could see his face distort like this. A cruel smile emerged from her stoic face. “What great timing! I had wanted to say goodbye~” Her pale blue eyes narrowed with satisfaction.
Brand woke up from his stupor, and his bloodshot eyes almost bore a hole to Sevianna’s neck. He still stubbornly tried to activate the collar. “Sevianna come here!” Could it be that the collar was malfunctioning? Although it never happened before, it wasn’t impossible. This was his first final product and though he was a master at his crafts, some of them were bound to have errors.
Sevianna’s smile widened until her eyes shaped into a slit. “No way~” She turned around to the similarly raging man beside her. She had no idea what made him angry but since it wasn’t directed at her, she didn’t care. “Let’s go.” Then, she took the initiative to pull him to the first carriage – she assumed was where they would sit.
Adounis’ boiling rage was popped off. Instantly, he was giddy. He shot a victory glare at Brand while he obediently let Sevianna lead him.
Brand could literally taste a metallic fluid in his mouth from his internal struggle. He wanted to take Sevianna back with force, but he had only taken one step when Adounis abruptly turned around and waved his hand. He was forcefully teleported.
Sevianna watched Brand’s helpless and raged face for the first time. Then, she turned to look at the grinning man who was staring at her and waiting for a praise. Her lips turned into a line and with the tip of her ears slightly red she softly said, “thanks.”
She quickly retracted her hands to her chest and boarded the carriage. She had no idea why she couldn’t look at him eye to eye.
The left behind Adounis was about to fly from happiness. He also boarded the carriage with a huge grin plastered on his face. The four looked at each other’s eyes and could see the speechlessness in them. What happened to their prince?!
The ride to wherever they were going was quiet. Sevianna fixed her gaze outside the window while Adounis would stare at her. This went on until the sound of a huge gate opening broke their thoughts.
Sevianna watched as the gate opened to reveal a floating castle. The road towards it stretched from where she was to its entrance, and it didn’t seem to have anything under to stabilize it. It was fixed in the air. The carriages neatly entered and encircled a tall fountain before stopping. Six people, three on the left and three on the right, lined up to greet them.
Everyone got down from the carriage, and the six people greeted them in unison after they saw Adounis. “Welcome home, your highness! Welcome, young masters!”
They waited, but they didn’t get Adounis’ reply. He had turned to his carriage and held out his hand.
Sevianna paused from getting up and stared for a long time at the extended hand. Although the inside had been blushing and screaming with excitement, Sevianna’s face didn’t move and stayed frigid. She placed her hand unto his and intentionally gently scratched his palms. She hid the mischievousness in her eyes as she bowed slightly and got down.
Adounis’ throat was dry. His heart was tickled by something he couldn’t understand. And when he checked her expression, there was nothing he could see. His ears had turned red but it was hidden behind his long hair.
The six people were experts in their job and didn’t show any reaction, but their eyes blinked in surprise. Who was this girl? She even got their prince to help her?!
A girl wearing a maid’s uniform bowed even lower than usual. She was hiding the jealous expression on her face. She had noticed the slavery collar on the girl’s neck, and couldn’t wrap her head around why her prince was helping a slave!
The six all had different thoughts hidden in their hearts, but they dared not voice it out for fear of incurring their prince’s wrath.
Adounis did not let go even when Sevianna tried to pull her hand back. He led her inside despite the sharp daggers stabbing at his neck because of her fixed murderous glare.
Actually, he loved the attention she was giving him. He wondered what was wrong with him.
The four young masters did not follow the lovebirds – although one was smiling while the other glaring and looked nothing like the lovebirds they were called as such – and went to hang out in the living room of the castle instead.
Adounis led Sevianna on a tour of the castle with a tight grip on her hand. While he was explaining where was what and what was that, he did not know that Sevianna was not listening as she kept her attention to their locked hands. Her face looked like she was about to murder someone, but her heart was actually filing with sweetness.
Sevianna: I want to snuggle ~ Really want to hug him ~
Lily: I hear nothing. I know nothing.
Unbeknownst to the both of them, the maid earlier had followed them at a distance. Her tender face had distorted into envy, and her eyes were bloodshot. She dug her nails into a tree trunk but it did nothing to soothe her rage. She wished she was the one beside her prince.
Adounis continued his little tour and by evening, he brought Sevianna to her new bedroom – that was arranged while he distracted Sevianna with the tour.
Sevianna looked at the magnificently crafted door and wore a complicated look at Adounis. This is not where a slave should be staying, was what her expression said.
But as always, Adounis ignored it and told her to not stay up late. Even though Sevianna was whirling with questions in her mind, she eventually entered her new room.
Adounis kept a dotting look on his face. When he entered his own bedroom, that was just right across from Sevianna’s door, his gentle look had turned cold. “Gareth.”
A man in a black long sleeve overall appeared out of a formed black smoke – he was one of the six people who greeted them when they arrived. He kneeled in one knee with his right hand to his left chest and kept his head low. “Yes, your highness.”
A cruel light reflected on Adounis’ eyes. “Sevianna is mine. You know what to do.” His voice slightly became gentle at the mention of Sevianna’s name.
Gareth was startled at the order. Then his face turned gravely serious. “Consequence?” He was a man of few words.
“Kill.”
Then, Gareth turned into smoke and vanished, bringing along an important mission.
Adounis sat on a sofa near the window. And as he watched a scarlet coloured moon lighting up the night, his doting face came back. Her eyes glows red too when she’s angry… Never had he appreciated the moon as he had now.
For a month, Sevianna lived in Adounis’ castle as a free-loader. She would sometimes go out into the forest right outside the castle and mindlessly stroll. She had also indulged herself in “playing” with the high levelled monsters in the area, making her an infamous existence to the poor beasts.
Of course, she hadn’t forgotten to tease Adounis whenever he was at home. By the second week that Sevianna had stayed, he adamantly refused to work in the main castle and opted to work in his own home instead. He always felt a restlessness in his heart when he couldn’t see her within three days.
The six people who greeted them had been the only people who took care of the castle. There was Gareth, the maid, the cook, the butler, the gardener, and Adounis’ assistant. Sevianna had felt other presence in hiding around the castle and believe that they were Adounis’ secret guards.
While the five of them were slowly getting used to their new member, one of them had been seething in anger. And finally, she snapped when she saw her prince kissing the back of the slave’s hand before reluctantly leaving for work. She had been swallowed up in anger that she had bloodshot eyes ’till the morning the next day. Knowing that the prince was out, she confronted the slave.
Sevianna was planning to stroll in the forest and play with her new friends again when her path was blocked by a maid. The maid’s face was demonic, befitting her race.
Sevianna narrowed her eyes, displeased. She step aside and was about to go pass her when the maid blocked her path once more. It seemed she would let her go no matter what.
“You slut, what did you do to our prince?” The maid said each word through gritted teeth.
Sevianna’s eyebrows rose but she kept silent. Her eyes, however, were watching her with interest.
“Don’t you know your place?! You’re a slave!” Sevianna’s indifference irritated her.
Slave. The word rang in Sevianna’s mind. She hated it – hated it to the point that she wished it never existed. Ah, wasn’t there another person who called me that as well? What did I do to her again?
Sevianna’s pale blue eyes glowed in red. She was trying to catch a certain memory regarding one of Brand’s women.
The maid didn’t know what she was thinking, but when she saw Sevianna’s eyes glow in red, she was stunned. She had always thought that this new slave was merely a human.
In this world, humans take up the majority of the population while the angels and devils are about equal. Despite the fact that angels and devils hide their prominent features – their wings, and horns – as a sign of respect in their world, it was not difficult to differentiate them.
Those who had strong magical aptitude could see the aura that surrounds a person. Angels had lighter while the devils had dark. Humans either had a mixture of both or none at all.
Sevianna’s aura was a mixture of both.
Furthermore, red glowing eyes were only known to exist with higher ranked devils. And yet, her eyes are glowing red…
The maid fell to her knees, terribly shaken.
