Aria’s Tales - Chapter 20 2.5 Unfallen The Fallen
This slave is a high ranked devil?! But her aura –
“Aaaaah!! – ugh !!!”
Sevianna didn’t let her continue dwelling in her thoughts. Her nails grew longer and the colour turned black. She swiftly grasped the maid’s neck and gripped it tightly. The air around her mirrored her rage and rapidly circulated – her hair dancing along with their disoriented rhythm.
“V- Vergina!”
Vergina’s scream was enough for the people in the castle to hear. The three people then rushed towards her location and saw this scene. Gareth and Adounis’ assistant had gone with him.
Their hearts sank when they saw Sevianna’s red eyes. She was not a simple slave! They felt both pity and annoyance at Vergina. Nobody had the courage to intervene. They had been warned already by Gareth, and yet Vergina didn’t listen! She had brought this upon herself.
Sevianna didn’t turn her eyes away from Vergina, but her aura had increased in intensity when she noticed their presence.
The three could feel a strong force bearing down on them, and their face turned ghastly pale. Their pity changed to vexation as they knew they wouldn’t have been caught up in this situation if it wasn’t for Vergina. She had always been obedient before. What did she eat to have the guts to disobey the prince’s order?!
The gardener and cook were not strong enough. Their knees fell to the ground as blood seeped through their mouths.
This dangerous atmosphere was only broken with a series of hurried footsteps.
“What’s happening?”
Adounis appeared from a sharp corner with a frigid look on his face, but his eyes betrayed his uneasiness. He had felt the disturbance in the air as soon as he stepped foot in the castle, and his complicated mind couldn’t help but overthink. He worried that something had happened to Sevianna, completely forgetting the fact that he had brought all his secret guards to his castle to guard her and even made several layers of protective force field.
Sevianna’s eyes finally moved. She turned to face Adounis with her eyes still glowing red. She did not plan to let this girl go.
Adounis found his cook and gardener on the ground while his butler barely standing. There was a flash of understanding on his face, before turning rigid again when he saw Sevianna’s red eyes.
This time, her displeasure was more evident.
He did not even take a single glance at Vergina who was struggling to talk. Seeing that Sevianna was not harmed, his alarmed heart calmed down.
“What’s wrong?” His voice clearly gentled.
Sevianna’s eyes had a ripple in them. She had not expected his tenderness to remain even when she was undoubtedly holding the life of one of his people. Her vexed heart somewhat softened.
“Your highness! I- I’ve been wronged!! ack – !”
Sevianna’s grip had loosened for a bit and Vergina took this chance to save herself – or at least that was what she thought. Sevianna’s grip tightened again before she could continue. But she believed that was enough. Surely their prince would not stand along someone he had only known for a month!
Adounis didn’t seem to have heard her accusations and continued to dotingly stare at Sevianna. “Won’t you answer me~?” He tried his best to soften his voice and unintentionally dragged it as well. His eyes grew bigger, looking like a puppy beggin for forgiveness.
Sevianna’s defences were almost shot down. Even the inside of her brain had long been overrun.
Sevianna: Yan ge! This is not fair! *clutches heart*
Lily: *applauses* He is not to be underestimated. *thumbs up*
Sevianna’s hold on Vergina’s neck loosened again.
It was her only chance. So Vergina used her own nails to slash down on Sevianna’s arm.
Red blood dripped from the slashes she made, yet Sevianna only knitted her brows and turned her gaze back at Vergina. Her eyes were now completely red, and as the receiving end of her stare, Vergina’s heart stopped.
Adounis saw the bright red liquid and felt that his own heart had been ripped. He hastily ran towards Sevianna and flung Vergina to the ground. The strength he used caused a large crate to form on the floor.
He held Sevianna’s wounded arm with trembling hands. “Go call a healer!” His own eyes glowed red in indignation. He should have flung the maid much earlier!
Sevianna watched his visibly worried expression, and her forever-cold face finally cracked. Her heart was not dead, but she could not get herself to trust her own emotions. She could feel that familiar feeling once again, but this time, it was sweeter. Her red glowing eyes faded, returning back to its pale blue colour, and the air around her became tranquil.
Adounis saw Sevianna’s serene expression and felt even more aggrieved. It would have been better if she cried. It was fine if she went berserk. But her unperturbed look made him realize that this sort of thing was common for her. He cautiously raised his hand to her head and patted her hair softly. Only when she didn’t avoid him or slap his hands away did he sigh in relief.
“My bad. It won’t happen next time.”
Sevianna’s tranquil look was distracted. Her cheeks had a shade of red, and she abruptly turned around before Adounis could notice. She knew her blood just rushed to her face.
Adounis’ hand stopped at midair and he unwillingly took it back. He wanted to continue patting her.
“Yo- Your Highness.” The butler did not have the courage to continue. He was the one who went to look for their healer but found that he was not at home. All he wished right then was to keep his insignificant life. “T-the healer is not here.”
The atmosphere drastically dropped in degrees. Adounis turned to the butler with a chilly look.
“No need. I’ll be fine.” Sevianna turned to say.
Adounis did not trust it. Not when the blood was still dripping without any sign of it stopping.
Sevianna was exasperated at his persistent look. Since he was so worried, she decided to heal herself right then and there. With tiny glowing particles surrounding her hand, she said, “Restore and heal.”
And the wound was gone.
Adounis blinked his eyes in surprise and examined the slender arms. He looked at it in every angle and pressed on it to check that there would be no more bleeding. There were even no scars. It only proved further that her light and dark aura were real. She has both light and dark attributes. But how?
The three people watching this scene were also confused. But, they knew better than to disrupt this peaceful moment.
They were smart. But one wasn’t.
“You’re highness!” Vergina cried indignantly. Her face was a mixture of her tears and blood, and she sat on her legs while looking up. She was actually a beautiful lady. But the three spectators could no longer find pity from looking at her because of what happened earlier. This was what devils were like – they hold grudges at very little things, and they could get obsessed with the peculiar ones.
Once Sevianna had stepped down the carriage, they already had an inkling that their prince was obsessed. Otherwise, that severe warning would not have been implemented.
Vergina was done for.
“You’re highness that girl is not human nor is she a devil! We don’t even know where she came from! Are you just going to let her stay here and let her act like a princess when she is clearly a slave?!!”
Vergina had not learned her lesson. She was thoroughly vexed. She did not believe that this vixen, a stranger, could truly capture her prince’s heart.
Sevianna’s gaze grew colder again. But before she could act, Adounis had already sent Vergina flying by a furious wave of his hand.
His strength was displayed with just this one wave. Vergina had flown to the forest and had hit her back on numerous tree trunks. She broke them with her back until the force that Adounis had used finally lessened, and she hit one last tree before falling sideways.
It would be a miracle if she could still talk. She weakly opened her eyes and glared hatefully at Sevianna’s silhouette that was standing beside the person she had always longed for. Why?!
Adounis took Sevianna’s hand and gestured in the air. “Take her to father. Tell him I don’t want her.” He had wanted to kill her personally. But this maid was actually the daughter of the prime minister. He’ll just take this offence and put it on the prime minister’s tab.
Sevianna’s anger got distracted by the warmth on her palm. Her attention was immersed in their entwined hands once again.
“Sevi?” Adounis called out after talking for so long yet not getting even one word of a reply.
Sevianna was startled awake and looked at him blankly. She hadn’t been listening.
Adounis’ heart melted and he couldn’t help but pat her head again. “My Father wants to see you. So I’ll be bringing you to his birthday.”
He had not wanted to show her in front of others but the events earlier had slapped him awake. Wouldn’t they continue bullying her if he doesn’t announce to the whole world that she was his? He must not let her be slighted again. The barriers in her heart are already difficult to pass through.
Sevianna did not know the complex thoughts in his heart. She merely nodded and entered her room as they had long arrived outside their bedrooms.
She leaned her back on the door and closed her eyes. Numerous images flicker on her mind, and all of them were of Adounis’ face.
Sevianna: Lily~ I think I’m falling all over again with Yan ge~
Lily: And he is still as partial to you as ever.
Sevianna: He’s now one step closer to Sevianna’s heart… You’re so close Yan ge! Fighting!
Sevianna opened her eyes after a long time, and they were glazed. She absentmindedly changed from her dress into a black silk nightgown. The moon was still low and she didn’t feel sleepy yet so she decided to stroll in the garden outside for a bit.
She would like to admit that she was dressing like this on purpose. Hehe ~
But her plans were ruined right as she opened her door.
Adounis was about to knock, when the door opened before he could. His hands paused. The girl had changed into a more revealing dress and one of the thin straps had even fallen off of her shoulders. He blushed furiously.
“What are you wearing!!”
Then he turned his head to the side and covered his mouth. His whole face, down to his neck, was red.
Did they have a telepathic communication? She was just about to tease him when he had already sent himself to her door. Yan ge, you’re actually monitoring me, aren’t you?
Sevianna was not that off the mark. Adounis is monitoring her but by live reports of her actions through his subordinates, and not by directly watching her.
Sevianna’s eyes glinted with mischief. She took one step forward and found that he took one step back. Her eyebrows raised.
Sevianna: I want to jump at him. Can I?
Lily: Don’t! You’ll scare him!
Sevianna: Why would I scare him? Sevianna’s a cute loli!
Lily: *exasperated* Because you’re a wolf in sheep’s clothing! *cries indignantly*
Sevianna took another three steps and Adounis followed by stepping three steps back. His head was still turned to the side and his hand still covered his mouth.
There was only the two of them in the hallway under the moonlight that shone through the large window. Their shadows stretched along with the light.
“Look at me.” Sevianna said in a soft voice.
Adounis’ shoulders jerked. Her voice had tickled his heart and his face was a shade of red deeper. He might not be able to take any more of her teasing.
But Sevianna would not stop.
“Adounis.”
That was the very first time she had said his name. In his surprise, he turned to look at her with a mixed expression of shock and joy.
“Don’t turn away from me.” Sevianna’s face looked pained as she seemed to have remembered an unpleasant memory.
