Aria’s Tales - Chapter 22 2.7 Unfallen The Fallen
Sevianna couldn’t decide if she should thank him for giving her another opportunity to wear her favourite dress or to cry from being overly sentimental. In the end, she could only keep these thoughts in her heart.
Their date was over and Adounis was satisfied. He felt a growing desire in his heart telling him that he could do this every day if only he captured her heart. He wanted to rush but he was afraid he would make a mistake.
Their journey back home mirrored their journey to Stella Kingdom. The only thing that was different was the teddy bear clutched in Sevianna’s chest and the gentler atmosphere between the two.
It wasn’t long before two weeks have passed and they were once again sitting in the same carriage they had taken to Stella Kingdom, and they were heading to the main castle. Adounis had taken everyone for this trip and left a few guards to protect his castle.
When they arrived at a tall pure black gate, the guards merely swept their glance at the grand parade and immediately opened the gate. Sevianna found that this kingdom had a central theme of dark-toned colours and the love for floating buildings. The roads were also floating while under it was a large pool of lava. In here, the devils were more unreserved and didn’t hide their wings and horns.
They all headed for the west part of the kingdom, and what Sevianna fascinated the most was a castle that was upside down. Turns out that, that was Adounis’ castle in the main city. Although the exterior of the castle was upside down, the inside was completely normal.
There were more than two rows of people waiting for their arrival. Adounis got down first but he only made one step on the ground and turned back to Sevianna. His hand outstretched intending to help her down.
She suddenly had a deja vu.
Sevianna’s lips curled up slightly. It had only been a month and a half but her heart was already starting to heal. She lowered her head and tried to hide her delighted face, but Adounis had seen her small change. He was startled into a daze. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if he could see her wide sweet smile?
Sevianna placed her hand on his palm but Adounis didn’t react. “Adounis?”
Adounis blushed when he heard her soft voice. His hand holding hers gently tightened and he carefully guided her off the carriage.
“Welcome back your highness. Welcome, young miss.”
The moment Sevianna stepped out, the people greeted in unison. They had been outright warned before their arrival that they had a new lady boss that was coming with their master. And that the consequences for offending her were worst than offending their master. To this statement, they were utterly shocked.
Sevianna was surprised at their greeting. She turned to Adounis and understood. He had done it for her. She closed her eyes for a moment and cooled her swelling happiness. Such a touching consideration, but she dare not believe it.
The Demon King’s birthday was a grand celebration. Every single influential people, from the compounds of the main city to all the corners of the world, were invited. For Sevianna to attend this major banquet with a status of Prince Adounis’ slave, it was inevitable that she was privately scrutinized.
Her dual aura had also been spread and rumours about her being the child of an angel and a devil quickly became the hottest topic. When the king heard this, his already low impression of Sevianna dropped drastically. It could be said that he was not pleased to hear another “bastard” child aside from the “bastard” prince.
So before the banquet even begun, Sevianna’s reputation in higher devil society had reached the level of disgust and hostility.
However, the person herself did not care. Nor did she care to think of giving any gift to the king. If not because she felt her heart was steadily opening up again, she might have had the idea to crash the party. She heard the Demon King was the strongest, so maybe he could end her suffering?
The party was held at night at the largest ballroom in the main castle. Decorative treasures were taken out to be displayed and an extravagant array of food was displayed at the side. All the guests were wearing formal dresses and suits. Despite some of them freely exposing their large wings, the ballroom was large enough that people didn’t feel restricted in their movements.
By this time, about a hundred guests have shown up. Most of them were of the lower class and the middle class. It was an unspoken rule that it was rude to show up later than the higher class.
As the gates were swarmed with numerous carriages, fireworks lit up the night while the citizens celebrate together in their own households.
The higher classes have arrived. The only people left were the Demon King, his highness Adounis, and the “bastard” child.
Out of the three, the Demon King was the first to appear.
All devils dropped down in one knee while they placed their right hand over their left chest. Their heads were bowed in respect. Some of them were truly in revere, while the others faked it. No matter where and no matter what, there would always be at least two sides in the face of power.
The Demon King had long black hair and abyss-like eyes. He had already stopped aging and his features were strikingly similar to Adounis – save for the fact that he was more masculine than Adounis.
The King glanced around the room and didn’t see his two sons. One of them was his doted and the other he downright ignored. So while he couldn’t get himself to scold his dotted son, he had grown accustomed to the other’s insolence.
Right then, a man with a silver medium-length hair stepped in from the two large doors to the ballroom. His regal aura was undoubtedly matched with the Demon King. He strode gracefully and leisurely like a lazy leopard under the bright rays of the sun.
The Demon King’s face was covered in a shadow. This son of his was one of his regrets in life. He had neglected him deliberately but he had actually grown strong on his own without his guidance.
While everyone was arriving one by one, Adounis, in his royal attire, sat calmly on a sofa. He watched the closed door intently and waited patiently for Sevianna to finish dressing up. After what seemed like thirty minutes, the door moved.
Sevianna came out with her off-white dress and gloves while half of the back of her hair was styled to look like a rose and the other half was draped in her neck and shoulders. She looked like a princess from some fairytale.
Adounis took a sharp breath and swept his hair back as he tried to suppress his raging emotions.
Sevianna paused when she saw his actions. Shen Yan’s image had suddenly overlapped with Adounis, giving her a scare. But then she realized, even though he didn’t have his memory, he still retained some of his small habits – habits that were too inconspicuous, that she might be the only one who knows about them.
“Let’s go.” Adounis finally calmed down and held Sevianna’s hand.
“Wait.” Sevianna gripped his hand to stop him. Then she touched the collar in her neck. “Can you do something about this?”
Her question made Adounis show his stubborn face. Sevianna was speechless. “I don’t need you to take it off. It just doesn’t make sense with my outfit.”
Adounis was startled, and his ears reddened. He had actually shown her such a shameful face. He coughed away his awkwardness before reaching his hand to the slavery collar. “Turn into a necklace.”
A dark light glowed from his hand, engulfing the collar. And in the next second, the collar turned into a black choker with three crystal stones at the front. It was more simple and suitable for Sevianna’s dress.
Sevianna nodded to express her thanks and no longer interrupted him from leading her to the ballroom.
They were already at the main castle and were just changing at the side building. This building had been given to Adounis by his Father for his convenience.
The tense atmosphere in the ballroom was closely reaching its peak when in the silence, two pairs of soft footsteps echoed from outside the ballroom’s door.
Everyone immediately turned to look at the entrance. They already knew who it was going to be, but the one they were expectant to see was the rumoured slave.
And their expectations were not disappointed, but their pride had taken a tremendous hit.
By Adounis’ side, a beautiful cold-faced lady seemed to have brought a winter chill to the ballroom. Her remarkable demeanour made her presence give the impression of a queen. The slavery collar that they were also expecting, had turned into a simple yet beautiful jewelry.
Their shock had not had the time to recover when they saw that their ever emotionless prince was wearing a doting smile. His eyes fixed on the lady by his side.
They matched! It wasn’t the case of the other being too beautiful or too regal. They neither overwhelmed the other nor did they suppress their aura. They simply fit perfectly with each other.
The girls who had wanted to see the slave embarrass herself felt their cheeks burn. While one of them was staring with undisguised hostility at Sevianna. It was Vergina.
She no longer wore a maid outfit, but a dress befitting her title as the daughter of the prime minister. However, at the moment, she looked like a malicious spirit instead.
The Demon King had also not expected this. But this only fueled his anger. A seducer! His son must have been bewitched by this wench!
His vicious stare was too obvious as Sevianna noticed it right away. She turned to look at him eye to eye. Her back straight and face calm. She did not back away.
Everyone was stunned. This girl could take on his majesty stare and not cower? Besides Prince Adounis and the “bastard child,” this rumoured slave actually had the mental strength to stay sane under the Demon King’s glare?!
The Demon King’s impression wavered. But he stubbornly believed that she had just been lucky and tried to exert his force through his eyes again.
Sevianna directly received his subtle attack. Honestly, it was useless. No matter how strong it was, if it was a devil’s magic, it was nothing under her immune ability against dark attributes. She wouldn’t even break a sweat if this continued on for forever.
But nobody knew she was a fallen angel.
Adounis’ face went ghastly pale when he noticed his father’s growing strength. He decisively pulled Sevianna behind him and fought his father’s force with his own causing the air around them to rage uncontrollably.
“Father that’s enough!”
The Demon King was startled by his son’s interjection, but he didn’t stop nor added more force. With furrowed brows, he worriedly said, “Adounis you’ve been bewitched! I can understand your leniency to your bastard younger brother is because of blood relation. But do you really have to also like a bastard child?!” He stood up in his rage.
Adounis pale face abruptly turned red. “Watch your mouth!”
The Demon King was pained to find his own doted son had actually retorted to him aggressively. He blamed it all to that girl! “Adounis! Must I make you eat a cleansing pill for you to wake up!”
Cracks suddenly formed on the floor that Adounis was standing on. His father was serious. He had actually increased his power.
The Demon King really lived up to his name. No matter how scarily Adounis had risen in strength, he was still not on par with him.
Adounis gritted his teeth and knitted his eyebrows in pain. But he didn’t back away because he knew Sevianna was behind him. His eyes expressed the stubborn love that he had been keeping inside.
“I am the one pursuing her! She doesn’t even love me!” With those words, he bit his lip indignantly like a spoiled kid.
