Aria’s Tales - Chapter 23 2.8 Unfallen The Fallen
“I am the one pursuing her! She doesn’t even love me!”
Those words echoed through the ballroom and into the minds of everyone present. Adounis had never lied before. Which means…
What the fuck! Are you serious?!
Even Adounis “bastard” younger brother was stunned. He looked his potential future sister-in-law with a complicated gaze. Ever since he stepped foot in the castle today, he had a nagging feeling. There was a familiar aura in the surrounding that only he might have noticed from a distance. When he saw this girl, he noticed.
She had both light and dark aura just like him.
He finally found someone who he could relate to! But just as he was internally screaming with joy, he noticed his older brother’s intimacy. He felt great reluctance in his heart. On one hand, he was determined to befriend this lady, and even had the plan to take it further. On the other hand, his only close relative was in love with this girl. Furthermore, he had already assumed that they were mutually in love.
Who would have thought! His older brother was still pursuing her! Did that mean he had a chance?
While everyone had been stunned by his confession, Sevianna was looking at Adounis’ back with glazed eyes. She wanted to cry. For as long as she could remember, no one had placed her behind for the purpose of protecting her. Even Brand, when he saved her, had only done so by focusing on the monsters. He had not even taken a glance at Sevianna to see if she was alright.
And yet, against his father, Adounis had unhesitatingly stepped in front of her, blocking her from whatever harm that was directed at her.
She subconsciously touched her chest and felt his dead heart beating again. She dare not believe it. But her beating heart was a proof. She was definitely falling in love again.
Sevianna kept her attention to Adounis – to his voice, his words, and his expressions. She wavered.
Why not? Hadn’t she asked herself this before? Why not?
Lily: Sevianna might not be the most complicated soul but she definitely is a difficult one. Are you alright master?
Sevianna: *is too into her role to answer*
Lily: Okay…
If she no longer cared for her life, why not? Sevianna closed her eyes and contemplated. There was no longer any need for her to be afraid. If she dies in the process- if she breaks from this surreal dream, then it was fine.
The Demon King was also in a dilemma. He did not want to hurt his son, but if he had to use force to wake him up then he’ll do it! He exerted more force causing his eyes to glow red and his hair to dance wildly.
At the receiving end of his invisible power, Adounis stubbornly held his ground with his meagre force. Actually, the fact that he could still stand was already proof of his power. Others would have long been flattened on the ground.
Sevianna felt that Adounis was reaching his limit, and her heart ached at the thought that he was hurting herself for her. She moved before she could think twice.
She pulled the pale Adounis behind, and with a wave of her hand, she nullified the Demon King’s power. The raging winds abruptly stopped and the surrounding stilled. Sevianna’s eyes glowed a brighter red than the Demon King. A furious look appeared in her once stoic face.
“Enough. This is ridiculous.” Her voice was neither loud nor soft, but it reverberated into everyone’s hearts.
She instantly won the praises of the faction that were against the King secretly. If they were to look for a regime change, this girl will definitely be a wonderful queen candidate! Or so they thought.
The Demon King’s eyes widened. He was the one controlling his strength so it was only evident that he would know how much is need to counter it. But what did this girl do? She waved her hand!! This isn’t right!
“Impudence! You are only a slave!” He said in a moment of anger.
Adounis’ heart was frightened by his father’s remark. He knew it the hard way how much resentment Sevianna had against this one word. He hastily looked at Sevianna, and he couldn’t be more accurate. She was pissed! Adounis suddenly wanted to destroy the collar. But he remembered that he hadn’t captured her heart. He adamantly refused until he was 100% sure she belongs to him!
Sevianna’s furious look turned crazed. How many times must she hear this word before it ceases to exist? How do you cease its existence?!
She stomped her foot on the ground and broke the floor, sending its debris floating from her own invisible force. “Your majesty,” the vicious in her eyes and voice was clear for everyone to see, “did you wanted to die tonight?” She grinned maliciously from ear to ear.
The Demon King shuddered from the cold sweat on his back. What was that? He, who has lived and experienced through hell, actually felt scared over a little girl?!
Adounis had on a helpless look. His face was no longer pale and his wasted strength was gradually returning. He was not worried about the girl going berserk, but he was worried that she would get hurt. Even if it seemed like she was strong against magical attack, there were people here who was a master of all kinds of martial arts. Them against Sevianna alone – he was seriously worried.
He gently touched Sevianna’s arm, which startled her, and cautiously pulled her to his arms. “There are experts here. Do you really have to fight?”
Sevianna blinked her eyes in surprise. He was worried she would get hurt? She was touched, though she brushed it away. He was right, there were indeed experts here.
The floating debris suddenly fell on the ground as Sevianna finally calmed down. Everyone watched as the girl, who was about to go berserk, was placated just like that. Some people in the crowd actually sighed in relief. When they noticed their actions, they immediately looked around the room to check if they had been seen.
These people were actually the Fetcher brothers. They had come to the birthday party not just out of respect to the Demon King but because they had wanted to support Sevianna. They knew that the King hated hybrid children, and Sevianna had a similar aura like them.
Adounis’ younger brother was even more certain that Sevianna was a hybrid like himself. To nullify a dark magic, you had to have full control of your own light attribute and mix it with your own dark attribute. It was vice versa when facing against a light magic.
Unfortunately, he could have never known that fallen angels were only immune with dark magic. Light magic was able to incur damage to them.
The Demon King was vexed. Why was it that both this girl and his other son have the ability to nullify his magic? Even if he considers the fact that they were hybrid, he would still not believe that were superior. Rather, he believed that the two attributes in their body should be constantly clashing, never finding harmony, and harming the host’s body. He turned away from the factual evidence in front of him and continue to glare hatefully at Sevianna.
‘Sevi~ Don’t tease the Demon King so much. Don’t forget that one of the wishes was to make Brand fail his mission~’ Lily said while bouncing in Sevianna’s mind.
Sevianna paused. ‘… I forgot.’
Lily was exasperated. ‘Then what are we going to do? He is already hostile against you. He’d never take your warnings seriously’
‘Lily,’ Sevianna began, ‘if Adounis’ younger brother never came to be, then I really would have been in a tight spot.’
Lily stopped bouncing and tilted her head. She was confused. ‘What do you mean?’
‘His mother was an angel,’ Sevianna said as a matter-of-fact. ‘If my speculations are correct. The King and the angel were mutually in love. And for an angel to fall in love with a devil… My guess would be just like how Sevianna came to be. She was fallen.’ Her eyes narrowed as she tried to hide her pain. ‘And just like Sevianna, she had wanted to commit suicide.’
Lily’s eyes sparkled in understanding but died down as she still could not connect her words to their current situation. Sevianna didn’t let her stay in suspense.
‘The angel succeeded. And the King blamed himself while cowardly hiding away by blaming his son.’
Sevianna glanced at Adounis and then to the Demon King. ‘Fallen angels are his weakness.’
Adounis saw the flash of determination in Seviana’s eyes and was anxious. Was she really going to continue fighting?? What should he do? He wasn’t able to bring all his secret guards into one place without rousing any suspicion. He wasn’t confident that what he had right now was enough!
Adounis was worrying over nothing, but he, himself, didn’t know. He could only helplessly watch as Sevianna took three steps forward. His hands clenched and unclenched, warming himself so that he could immediately order his guards to help her.
“Is it just my identity?” Sevianna asked while raising her eyebrows.
The Demon King frowned at her question. What was she talking about?
“If I show you my identity, would that be enough?” She continued.
What was there for her to show? The Demon King could not understand what she meant. There was nothing else for her to show. Her aura and ability had long given her identity away.
Wouldn’t she just make the King angrier when she verbally confirms that she was a hybrid? Everyone thought so.
Sevianna didn’t care what they thought in their heart neither did she care that her questions went unanswered. She lowered her eyes for a bit, and with renewed courage, she decided it was fine. “Release.”
The air abruptly raged for a moment and black feathers wildly danced along with it. Then, it burst, sending everyone a step back from its great force. When they glanced at the source, they found a gorgeous pair of black wings spanned from the girl’s back. It stretched as if it had just woken up, and it lazily fell down to her feet.
Sevianna felt the weight she had been missing in her back and suddenly had the urge to sit down. It was a bit heavy ah! She knew it was because she had not let herself gotten used it when she transmigrated and quickly berated herself for forgetting this important matter.
Everyone stared wide eyes at her black wings. That’s right, they were black! Even if fallen angels were the rarest in this world, that nobody had seen one over centuries, they still knew what they looked like! They resembled humans. They no longer had their halo over their head and their pure white feathered wings. They merely had black abyss-like wings that could be big enough to cover two people.
Adounis stared longingly at those black wings. He was left in a daze after his vision was filled by them. And it actually teased him, when they stretched before lazily falling. Since he was at Sevianna’s back, he was directly on the receiving end. They really were beautiful. They look like they were made out of silks. He wondered how they would feel.
He couldn’t stop himself from reaching out.
“Eek!”
Sevianna flew a few steps away. She had felt an electrifying touch in her wings and ended up yelping. Her wings were actually this sensitive! She was scared to use it during their bedtime ah!
She did not restrain her aggrieved face as she looked at Adounis with an accusing gaze. Why would you touch without permission? Who told you to touch? No touching okay?
Adounis’ face slowly turned red seeing the lively expressions she was wearing. He clenched the hand that he used to touch her wings that still retained the feeling of touching them. He was overjoyed to find that the silky feathers do felt like silks!
He really wanted to touch them again. But Sevianna had reacted as such and he didn’t dare to act out of line lest he maker her angry.
