Aria’s Tales - Chapter 33 2.18 Unfallen The Fallen
Devian had a terrible headache. His mouth was constantly twitching while watching the six carriages stop at the main castle in an orderly fashion on a projected image that he had made. He held his forehead and massaged them every now and then, but it did nothing to ease his headache.
He really came!
What’s worse was that he didn’t come alone!
He wanted to leave his throne then, and escape somewhere away from his heedless friend. Although he was curious about his visit, he didn’t want to meet him.
Alas, uniform footsteps had already arrived behind the two huge doors leading to the main castle’s audience chamber. It was too late for Devian to escape.
He watched, in slow motion, as the devils guarding the door open it with ghastly pale faces. His widely smiling friend strode right in, and his holy aura had lit up the gloomy room. Devian frowned in annoyance.
“Ya~! What a face to make when seeing your friend! Can’t you be merrier?” Anhel opened his arms as if waiting for Devian’s hug.
But he was coldly dismissed.
Devian sighed exaggeratedly. “You … What are you doing here exactly?”
Anhel made an aggrieved look. “Why not? Is my presence here not welcomed?”
Of course not! Where the hell do you think you are?! This isn’t the human city where you can just barge in uninvited!
Devian wiped his face furiously. Then, he slumped in his throne with a tired expression. “Have you ever thought about what kind of predicament we’ll be in because of your so-called visit?” He waved his hand and a majestic-looking chair, one that didn’t lose in the regal aura as his, appeared. It floated to a stop just a few steps away from Anhel.
He didn’t bother to give the other’s their chairs. He was still the king after all. Even though he could bend some rules for his friend, he couldn’t do so to others.
The others, by the way, was Selyph, the Queen of angels, and the three princes.
SERIOUSLY?!
Devian sat upright again when he noticed his other guests. “What the hell! Did you just brought everyone in your family?!” He really could not understand at this friend of his. What about the Angelus?? Who was governing it right now?? It had probably gone into a riot, didn’t it?
He was right on the mark. Right now in Angelus, the angels were frantically searching for their lost royal family. Some ministers had terribly aged and lost a lot of their hair. Their King was at it again!
Anhel cheerfully sat on the chair and laughed at his friend’s outburst. He waved his hand left and right while wearing a casual look. “Don’t worry~ My grandsons can handle them~ Did you know that they subjugated a hydra a few days ago? They’re my grandson after all!” He held his chin as he nodded his head proudly.
The three princes behind him couldn’t help but straighten their posture. Their sons’ praises were also indirectly theirs. Pride swelled up in their hearts and their thoughts about their ridiculous father were swept away. Anhel had successfully distracted them from their initial thoughts of scolding him of his reckless visit.
“Honestly you – That’s not a proper excuse to give! Have you forgotten that you are a king?!”
Even Devian didn’t dare to be as reckless as his friend. If he actually did, by the time he came back, the throne would have long been owned by someone else. And the only way for him to get it back would probably through violence!
“But this visit is important! My only granddaughter is here!”
Anhel would never admit that he had grown tired in dealing with the old folks back home. He wanted a refresher in his monotonic life. And what’s a more wonderful chance than this? He was meeting his only granddaughter, and he got to be outside after centuries as a bonus!
Devian had a deadpan look in his face. He believed none of it! “Oh? Who is she?”
Anhel’s face lightened up, and he almost leapt out of his chair in excitement, but then he pretended to look angry. “Who else?! Is there any other angel living here?”
Devian was stunned. He suddenly felt dumb. He had actually forgotten about Sevianna’s existence. But he couldn’t be blamed for this. Who would have thought that Sevianna was the King of angel’s granddaughter!
He couldn’t understand his emotions right then. His son had not touched any woman or man before Sevianna. So it meant that he was waiting for her?
He was a bit envious.
Then, he was scared. Since Anhel was here, did he mean to take Sevianna away? He had just promised to stop anything from getting in between the couple! He had to make sure Sevianna stays! “Are you taking her back?”
Anhel watched in amusement at his friend’s face going from red to white in a matter of seconds. “Why are you so worked up? She’s my granddaughter. Her home is not here.” Although he stated it as a matter of fact, he had already planned to just secretly guard her if she decided to stay.
Devian was panicking in his heart and didn’t notice his friend’s nonchalant expression. If he did, he would have realized that he wasn’t as serious as he thought he would be.
“You can’t!” He said out of panic.
Selyph, who was indifferently listening to their conversation, frowned. “Why not?” Her voice dropped a couple of tens of degrees, freezing everyone in the room.
Devian was too panicked to care and did not get affected. “Because she already has a home!” He had said in the spur of the moment but found that this was a plausible reason. After all, she was Adounis’ slave!
Oh shit!
He almost said it out loud. He found that talking with his friend really lowered his IQ. He also forgot that Sevianna was still Adounis’ slave. He mustn’t let Anhel find out about this!
Suddenly, their conversation was interrupted by three successive knocks on the door. A guard came inside and bowed. “Your majesty, His Highness and young miss are seeking for an audience.”
The six people brightened while one was plunged in gloom. Since Devian didn’t answer the guard right away, Anhel righteously said, “Let them in!”
The guard was confused if he should or should not. He didn’t want to, but the other was the King of angels! He turned to his King for help.
Devian had slumped back in his chair feeling defeated. He waved his hand to confirm the order as he had finally given up.
Seconds later, Adounis came inside the audience chamber holding Sevianna’s hand. But the both of them abruptly stopped a few steps away from the door after seeing the people inside.
The hell is this?
As the crowned prince of the Antitheus Kingdom, Adounis naturally knew every single person across from him. Which was why he was dumbstruck.
Sevianna only knew of the King of angels’ appearance, but that was enough to make her mirror Adounis’ shock.
The angels’ didn’t counterattack but negotiated instead? Adounis and Sevianna looked at each other and saw the confusion in each other’s eyes. They could not fathom this situation.
Devian opened his mouth, but Anhel had beaten him. “Come in come in! Why the excessive shock?” Anhel had got up from his seat and headed over to Sevianna with a wide smile.
Adounis subconsciously pulled her behind his back and knitted his eyebrows as he looked questioningly at Anhel. Anhel stopped halfway and realized his mistake. He turned to his friend for help.
Devian was tired. Too tired. He held his forehead as he started to explain the situation in one sentence. “Adounis, this is Sevianna’s maiden family.”
And just like that, Adounis and Sevianna were struck dumb again. Excuse me?
Sevianna peeked from behind Adounis’ back with a bewildered expression and warily looked at the people watching her warmly. Their love-filled gazes startled her cold heart. She swiftly hid back in Adounis’ back and clutched at his shirt for support.
Sevianna: Lily! What is this!!
Lily: I have no idea! The information didn’t hold anything about Sevianna’s mother, and it stopped right as she died! *cries*
Sevianna: I almost went out of character! This is a really shocking news.
Lily: Indeed, Sevianna is actually a princess … *gasp* That means you can marry Adounis without a problem!
Sevianna: *facepalmed* Wrong! It’s even more complicated now! If they are just like Sevianna’s biological father, then I can only forcefully severe ties with them!
Sevianna firmly decided right as their split-second conversation ended. She was not willing to leave her Adounis!
The six people suddenly felt troubled when they saw Sevianna had avoided them. Selyph was brokenhearted, and her hatred for Sevianna’s father worsened.
“Baby? Baby it’s me~” She cautiously took a few steps as if testing the waters.
Sevianna clutched tighter on Adounis’ shirt making his frown more prominent. His wary gaze made Selyph stop – and she cried.
“Baby, I’m sorry~ Mommy was wrong to leave you~” She burst in tears and went into a fit of hiccups. “I’m sorry I left you in your bastard father’s hands. I’m sorry I didn’t come to get you earlier! I’m so sorr- hic”
The Queen of angels couldn’t take it anymore and went to pull her daughter in her embrace and patted her back with soft pats. She knew all too well what her daughter felt.
Adounis felt Sevianna’s grip loosened a bit and his frown loosened as well. At this moment, he was akin to her personal bodyguard – loyally shielding her from anything she didn’t like.
Anhel seemed to notice Adounis’ easing frown and somehow knew that he was mirroring Sevianna’s guard. His eyes flashed in approval. He had been bitter at this prince for holding his precious granddaughter, but it all washed away after seeing his protective manner. A man should be like this to be worthy of his granddaughter!
He decided to take it a bit further. “Sevianna? It’s your grandpa~”
Sevianna’s guard went up again as if realizing what they were here for. They were going to take her away! Her grip was tighter than before, she was even shaking slightly.
Her unstable emotions had been felt by Adounis. For some reason, he was getting very sensitive at her feelings recently. He could tell right away if she was happy, angry, or sad.
Adounis’ gaze turned menacing and looked straight at Anhel. His expression clearly asking them what they wanted.
Anhel never thought that his casual greeting resulted to this. He panicked. As he frantically searched for a way to salvage this situation, he remembered his friend’s words.
“Because she already has a home!”
He finally realized that Sevianna didn’t want to leave. He got depressed thinking about it, but he had to compromise or worst, Sevianna would make them her enemy. He sighed in reluctance.
“We’re not taking you away.”
His words surprised every single people in the room.
In her shock, Sevianna had peeked from behind Adounis. The girl’s expectant gaze broke their hearts as the others also realized why she had not wanted to come out from her “shield.”
Selyph pressed her lips but didn’t cry anymore. “Baby, you want to stay here?”
Sevianna looked at the woman who potentially looked like her older version. This person was her mother, and deep within her heart, she was craving for familial love. With teary eyes, Sevianna stepped out from Adounis’ back.
She timidly nodded her head while still keeping a grip on Adounis shirt, though this time she had resorted to gripping the sleeve near his hand.
Lily: *cries* I’m crying~
Sevianna: *pats*
Her stubborn look made everyone gave in. Even her three Uncles could not get the urge to go against her wish, what’s more to Anhel, the Queen, and her own mother?
Although filled with reluctance, they accepted the fact that they could not take their princess away.
Devian, who had watched this spectacle with a heavy heart, finally felt his burdened shoulders eased. He was very much thankful that Sevianna chose to stay. If she had chosen to leave, he wouldn’t be able to stop his son from going insane.
Devils were obsessed creatures after all.
