Aria’s Tales - Chapter 34 2.19 Unfallen The Fallen
Sevianna had no idea how their initial visit to ask for leave suddenly ended up in a family reunion. Their plan to go on a trip was ruined as Sevianna had to spend some time with her family instead.
As if they were parting for millennia, Sevianna clutched on the lost teddy bear that Adounis had gone out of his way to find, and pressed her lips together while looking back again and again at Adounis. She was to stay with her family for the next few days, and she was being pulled by her eager mother to the castle prepared for them by the Demon King.
She only stopped looking back when the last time she did, her vision was that of the closed door. Her heart had gone back to being cold.
Selyph noticed her cold demeanour and was even more determined to pay for the grievances she had done.
“Baby~ Is he your lover?” It was a very important question.
Sevianna’s cold face shattered and her cheeks were instantly shaded in red as her eyes swam in panic. “W- what? N- no …” She said as her voice gradually softened.
Selyph chuckled at her cute antics and had already gotten her answer. So he was~ She had no problem with this whatsoever. Identity-wise, look-wise, and even the overprotectiveness earlier had made her unconditionally support the two! She was thankful, that at the very least, her daughter had not been alone.
Sevianna was taken to the magnificent living room in the castle. All the while her face was red. The word lover had whirled in her mind constantly – she appeared to like the title. But on the inside, she was thinking that “husband” was even better!
Sevianna spent the next few days getting to know her mother’s family. She found that the King of angels, Anhel, was certainly a man who liked to play pranks every now and then. She pitied the angels back in Angelus and wondered what sort of storm they were experiencing at that moment.
She had also learned of her mother’s love story, and exactly how she had came to be. Turns out, it was because of their heightened emotions. Selyph hated the idea of marrying for the sake of political reasons and had escaped the castle to look for a potential lover. Velman, Chief Louscatt, had been the person she had gotten attached to while she vehemently searched.
One night, as her emotions were unstable after another failed attempt of convincing Anhel to stop the arranged marriage, Velman had been there to comfort her. And they had done the deed.
Later, Anhel had found out about this matter and the rest of the story was history.
Sevianna’s previous grievances gradually faded away.
Her grandmother, Sheila, was the sweetest of them all. She had a golden hair and green, emerald eyes. She admitted that she had wanted to have a granddaughter as her last wish in life. But unfortunately for her, her sons seemed to only have male genes in them and couldn’t grant this one wish. So when she found out about Sevianna’s existence, she adamantly refused to be left behind in Angelus and had gone together to the trip to Antitheus.
Throughout these few days, it was not an exaggeration to say that she was the one who spoiled Sevianna the most. She even wanted to sleep together with her but had been betrayed by her daughter who also wanted to sleep with Sevianna.
Towards these supposedly strong women’s actions, Sevianna could only speechlessly go along with their pace.
Nathaniel, the crowned prince of Angelus, was Sevianna’s first uncle. He was a formal man who looked strict with his hazel short hair and piercing dark blue eyes. But when he had introduced himself to Sevianna at first, his appearance turned into that of a gentle prince who had came straight out from a fairytale. Sevianna’s girly side could not stop herself from idolizing him. He literally embodied the perfect prince that every girl would wish to marry ah!
The second prince was not much younger to Nathaniel. Kleid, her second uncle, inherited Sheila’s golden hair, but his eyes were a mixture of the shade of green and blue. Sevianna found that this uncle of hers really liked to give gifts. Her room had already been filled with all the miscellaneous things that he had given her! Even after she had pointed this out to him, he still pushed an exquisite jewelry box to her hands and left to go shopping, again.
She had no words to describe her speechlessness.
The youngest of the three, Claude, was carefree and extremely hot-blooded. He loved to go questing every time he had the chance. He had originally came together with this trip not only because he was curious at his only niece, but because he wanted to enter the forbidden grounds of the devils!
At one point, Claude had seen Sevianna strolling in the nearby forest and went berserk again – actually, she was just playing around, but then she ended up getting too excited and killed almost half of the strongest monsters in the area with sheer physical strength.
She had subconsciously tamed another forest and became infamous once again.
Claude’s blood had boiled. He immediately asked Sevianna to go into a quest with him, and his burning eyes had made her unable to say no.
So her few days of stay became a whole month instead.
After a month of being away from Sevianna, Adounis could no longer stop himself. Although he could visit the castle from time to time – which he did every day – it was not the same as having her at the corner of his eyes all the time.
Adounis barged into his father’s study and said in all seriousness, “Help me prepare my wedding.”
Devian was stunned. His mouth was hanging open while his hand with a pen froze. Before he could process his son’s words, Adounis continued.
“Actually, wait. Let me propose to her first.” Then he abruptly left, leaving the stunned Devian in his own world.
He did not see the prestigious Demon King jumping from his seat and delightedly cheering him on. “Good luck!” But then he found that there was no need so he quickly abandoned his work and started the wedding preparations.
Adounis had rushed back into his castle and hastily ordered his servants to prepare this and prepare that. After dropping his orders, he rushed to the other castle and quickly pinpointed Sevianna’s location.
She was sitting in the living room while having a tea party with her mother and grandmother. The circular marble table was filled with various sweets and two pitchers of tea. The three women were elegantly sipping while harmoniously chatting.
Adounis hesitated to join, but Sevianna had seen him already. “Why are you there?” She got up from her seat and pulled him to sit beside her wearing an indifferent look. The tip of her ears, however, were tinged in red.
The women across couldn’t help but chuckle, making Sevianna’s blush travel to her cheeks.
Adounis’ nervousness calmed down when he saw Sevianna’s stoic face turn cute right away. He held her hands under the table and turned to face the two women with an unusually resolved eyes. “Mother, grandmother. May I ask for Sevianna to stay for dinner at my place?”
The women were satisfied at his affectionate call, then they paused. Their laughing eyes met as a trace of understanding could be seen as well. These two love experts had already gone ahead and predicted what Adounis was going to do.
Sheila knew this was not her decision to make so she continued to gracefully eat her cake. Selyph, on the other hand, didn’t make it hard for Adounis as he had already gotten her approval long ago. She gave her permission after seemingly having a long debate about it in her head, and didn’t miss her daughter’s delight at the corner of her eyes. She suppressed the laughter that almost escaped from her lips.
Adounis was relieved and waited ’till their tea party was over before whisking Sevianna away. As they had just gone past the living room’s door, the ladies behind them finally let go of their suppressed laughs, and laughed to their heart’s content. Sevianna’s cheeks had turned beet red.
She was held firmly by Adounis’ warm and rough hands and was gently led towards his castle. As soon as she entered, she noticed the floating lights spread out around the place. Since it was night time, the lights sparkled brightly and were twinkling in irregular rhythms.
Sevianna’s attention was distracted by them. Adounis led her towards the garden she liked to stay and the scene that greeted her made her heart beat fast. She also felt a bit teary.
Crystallized giant flowers and leaves had occupied the place. They were all transparent from afar but when she got nearer, she found that they would flash with a rainbow colour. Animals other than the darker toned ones in the area were frolicking everywhere. She even saw a literal ball of fluff bouncing its way to another ball of fluff and colliding with the other.
Sevianna smiled at this. She continued to look ignorant of Adounis’ plans, but really she had already guessed it. That was why she felt teary.
Adounis brought her deeper into this crystallized forest and had gone into the center where a circular table was placed. On top of it, lay a bundle of crystallized rose in a small vase and two slices of multi-coloured cake set on top of a crystallized plate. Sevianna suddenly wanted to call this place the “Crystallized wonderland”.
They didn’t go to sit at the table yet. Adounis had stopped her and raised her hand towards his lips. After this fleeting kiss, he took both of her hands and placed them on his chest. Sevianna could actually clearly feel his beating heart.
He looked down slightly from above and stole a kiss from her lips. Sevianna glared at him – confused and unsure what he was doing. Adounis only smiled wider.
“Sevianna, I love you.”
Such a sudden sugary confession. Sevianna was unable to react right away as her head had gone mush. Her heart was rapidly beating together with Adounis’, and her cheeks were shaded with deep red.
“Sevianna~” Adounis called out hoping to hear her reply.
But his call had only worsened her beating heart. Sevianna pursed her lips and looked away. When he thought that she wouldn’t say anything, she whispered, “Me, too.”
Adounis’ heart was scratched at by her soft voice. He held her hands tighter and was not satisfied at just those two words. “Sevi~ Say it properly~” His shoulders slumped, his eyes grew big – looking incredibly wronged.
Sevianna could not stop her heart from dashing off into a marathon. Her eyes swam in a panic until she finally gave in. “I love you.” She whispered again. And as soon as she said that, her face seemed to have exploded from embarrassment and turned red all the way down to her neck.
Adounis laughed merrily. “Mn, then marry me?”
He didn’t wait for her reply and had already captured her pouty lips. He pulled her closer with his hand around her waist and the other on her head. He invaded her mouth when she mistakenly gasped.
Sevianna’s mushy brain turned into a mess from the sudden kiss. She clutched at Adounis’ shirt for dear life and had forgotten to breathe. In just a minute, she was already out of breath.
Adounis reluctantly parted from her lips but kept his hands where it was. He moved over her ears and asked again. “Marry me?”
How could Sevianna refuse? Not when her head was spinning from the deep kiss, and her heart beating crazily fast. She was not clear-headed enough to pretend to refuse.
She dazedly looked at Adounis’ lips with glazed eyes and nodded like she was drunk. “Mn, I’ll marry you.”
