Aria’s Tales - Chapter 35 2.20 Unfallen The Fallen
Sevianna woke up with a start. What did she just said?
“W- Wait! T- that was- mph!”
Her lips were quickly blocked once again – effectively stopping any words of protest she was about to say.
Sevianna: Finally! *throws confettibomb*
Lily: And you were just about to torture him *sweat*
Sevianna: It’s not me! *pouts* Sevianna is such a tsundere so I’d be committing OOC if I at least don’t act like it~
Lily: I … can already foresee the future …
Sevianna: Hehehe~
Sevianna and Lily’s conversation had gone off a tangent while Adounis was busily distracting her thoughts of protest through his lips. He hadn’t let her go even after she furiously slapped his chest. Rather, he held her tighter instead.
That night, it was only understandable that Sevianna didn’t come back to her maiden family’s castle. Not when she didn’t even notice how she got to the bed, her clothes a mess, and Adounis topping her while his hands naughtily roamed.
She was not able to utter a single word of protest, and in the end, she surrendered.
If not for Selyph’s and Sheila’s reigns over the men, the king of angels and his three sons would have long barged into Adounis’ castle. They were terribly pissed but were also helpless. It wasn’t that they didn’t like Adounis – they have long been won over – but they were unwilling to admit that their princess was leaving again. Just recently they had finally met her, but someone was so eager to tie her down with marriage! How could they simply let it happen?
But against Selyph’sand Sheila’s icy glares that seemed to freeze them in place, they were helpless. They could only seeth in anger and silently wait for the dreaded news to come in the morning.
Their predictions, fortunately to the women but unfortunately to the men, were right on point.
Adounis brought back a red-faced Sevianna around noon and bowed like a proper son-in-law. “Please give us your blessings.”
Sevianna’s face couldn’t be redder. She wanted to escape right then but Adounis’ hold on her hand was as if they were glued to each other. She slowly but surely bowed with an exploding red face.
“That’s only natural!” Selyphenthusiastically pulled the newly engaged couple while ignoring her father’s gloomy stare.
“Of course we’ll give our blessings! Right ~?” Sheila chimed in and smiled widely at the gloomy men. Her sweet smile contrasted to the bone-chilling warning in her eyes. The men felt theirbacks sweat and wanted to cry. What about family hierarchy? Is this really a patriarchal society?
The whole family – along with a new extra member – sat down for dinner with a table filled with luxurious dishes. It seemed that the women have already organized this feast beforehand. Sevianna didn’t know what to say. Should she be amazed at their talent for predicting? Or was her answer really that obvious?
She silently nibbled her food while her hand was being squeezed by Adounis under the table. He was actually playing with her hand in front of her family! Sevianna used her nails to dig lightly at his palms.
But she didn’t know that her warning had made the man beside her excited instead. His throat bobbed up and down as he used all his mental strength to appear calm. And he continued to play with her hand.
The meal was harmonious.
Well, aside from the fact that the four mean across the table, facing the two women and the couple, were stress-eating because of helplessness. Then, the meal could be said to be delicious and merry.
Since Adounis and Sevianna had dinner with Sevianna’s family, they couldn’t possibly forget the Demon King, right? So at night, they met Herald along the way and brought him to have dinner with Devian. Devian, at that moment, almost cried from being sentimental. It was only because he didn’t want to ruin their first family gathering that he was able to hold his tears in.
But Sevianna could still see the tears at the corner of his eyes, and she was exasperated.
Honestly, what’s wrong with these men? On the other hand, her grandfather and uncles almost beat up Adounis out of anger if not for her mother and grandmother. And now, her future father-in-law almost cried because he finally got to eat together with his two sons – added to that was his future daughter-in-law.
Sevianna was exasperated. Where was the wise Kings and princes of high prestige?
Out of all the family relatives, Herald was the only one surprised at Adounis’ and Sevianna’s engagement. Although he knew that Sevianna was Adounis’ slave, he never would have thought their relationship could reach even marriage. During the war, he had been assisting his father in helping Adounis behind the scenes. He did, however, found out later that Sevianna had chased after his older brother. So their feelings heightened after a life and death encounter?
Just like Devian, Herald felt envious.
After the dinner, Adounis finally sent Sevianna back to her maiden family. And on the doorstep, he was met with four glares as they pulled Sevianna protectively. He merely smiled back at them and thought that their glares somehow resembled Sevianna’s. They really were a family.
He bowed once again and left to help his father with the wedding preparation. To which Sevianna had no idea about.
While these two families were focused on the wedding preparation, the outside world – that had thought that they had gone numb from the continuous earthshattering news – were struck dumb once again when they heard about the crowned devil prince Adounis’ and the angels’ princess Sevianna’s wedding.
They had already been stupefied with the fact that the King of angels’ had a granddaughter living in the devils’ territory, which was why he had visited the kingdom. Then, they also heard that it wasn’t just the King that came, but the entire royal family! It was fine to visit but why bring the entire royal family to the enemy’s territory??
After being bombarded by these news, they didn’t even bat an eyelid when Stella Kingdom allied with Antitheus. So they thought they had gone numb. But …
For the first time in forever, the devils and angels had reached the same mindset. This marriage was impossible to comprehend! Never mind if the identities of the angel and devil were normal. But the other was a crowned prince! And the other was the only granddaughter of the King of angels!
In Angelus, the angels were revolting. Similarly, in Antitheus, the devils protested.
This marriage must never happen! After all, in their eyes, this was a case of two powerful royal families tying down in a political marriage. If it really did happen, then the two races would have to treat each other equally.
Angels and devils treating each other equally? It was the biggest joke they had ever heard.
Back in Angelus, the elders that Anhel had left behind were feeling remorse. Had they stopped their king even with violence, this engagement would have never happened. They could never have imagined that it was bound to happen either way because Sevianna had already planned beforehand. Although, the fact that she was a princess was out of her considerations.
These elders protested secretly. However, right as they had sent numerous spies and assassins to gather information and to potentially kill Adounis, they were suddenly sent to heavenly prison after their dirty secrets were revealed to the public. All this was courtesy to the sons of the three angel princes that were left behind.
Actually, they too had wanted to come because they also wanted to meet their female cousin. Their family was deprived of girls ah! Must treasure! But governing Angelus had been dump to their heads, and they could only grit their teeth and take responsibility.
Only when half of the elders were sent to the prison for their crimes, did the others, who wanted to help, finally became quiet. While some of the rare righteous ones joyfully evaded this problem. Since they couldn’t convince the royal family, then they’ll just obey. The monarch has their lives at the tip of their fingers, so who were they to complain?
In Antitheus, the situation was very different. If the angels had confronted this problem with fake democratic faces, the devils straightforwardly rioted.
But since they had used force to face this issue, the royal family of Antitheus, with a pure lack of courtesy, stopped them with their sheer brute strength. Who would have thought that when Devian, Herald, and Adounis combined their power, they could place a strong invisible pressure on the entire city?
The devils had their mouths hanging open. This is unscientific!
Little did they know that Shyvva had a hand in this~
They had completely forgotten his presence, so he made use of their riot and vent some of his frustration. With four powerful people working together, it only took a week for the entire devil race to accept this wedding reluctantly. Compared to how it took Angelus a month to stabilize, a week was really unbelievable.
The world was getting swept by the two royal families’ pace. While in a faraway small town, the angels living there were also planning a protest. It was the town that Sevianna had grown up with.
At the center of the town, there was a plaza. And at its center, above the stone situated around the fountain, stood Velman Louscatt with a stern expression.
“Chief Louscatt, we have to help the elders!”
“That’s right!”
“This wedding mustn’t happen!”
“Was the royal family bewitched?”
“If so, then they need our help as well!”
“Those damn devils! What have they done this time?!”
“But .. the elders’ crime …”
“You actually think it’s real?”
“Tsk, pretty sure those were fake pieces of evidence.”
“Didn’t Stella Kingdom announce their alliance with Antitheus? With Stella’s technology, what can’t they do?”
This person’s statement immediately got all the angels who heard him nod their heads in agreement. It was definitely a plausible argument. After all, Stella was the leading kingdom in terms of magic technology. If they were to fake pieces of evidence, it definitely would not be impossible.
Velman took in the disgusted faces of all the angels in the town. The thought of coexisting with devils had already made them loathe the other. There was no way they could just treat the devils equally once the alliance was established! They were ready to do anything to stop the wedding.
“Chief Louscatt, we should boycott the wedding!”
Someone from the crowd shouted this advice and the idea instantly rooted to everyone in the plaza. Indeed, why have they not thought of that? Their expectant gazes gathered to Velman’s body making him incredibly uncomfortable.
If they find out that the Princess Sevianna was exactly the same Sevianna that they had initially thought … what would they do?
Velman’s heart trembled in fear. It would be showing mercy if he was simply disowned by the community, but if he was lynched because of this …
He closed his eyes to hide the restlessness in his heart. When he opened them again, they were filled with determination.
“Alright.”
He had to side with them this time. Or else, once they knew, he really would be lynched for the crime he committed.
The angels beamed at his approval. They rushed to their houses and began packing in enthusiasm. Leaving Velman, along with the silence of the wind, to rethink his decision.
In the end, his heart reached the same conclusion.
With heavy footsteps, he too started packing. And by the time he was done, all the angels – aside from the thousand-years-oldelders and the children – were waiting for him in the plaza.
When they saw him approach, they straightened their backs and lined up uniformly. They waited patiently for their chief to issue the start of their journey.
Velman’s guts told him that what he was about to do was wrong, but his own rational thinking made him say otherwise.
