Aria’s Tales - Chapter 37 2.22 Unfallen The Fallen
Sevianna silently cried in Adounis’ arms. As the burst of light earlier had distracted the audience, they were not able to witness the destruction of the slavery contract. If they had paid attention earlier, they’d have seen a small magic circle forming under the couple’s feet and breaking into particles along with the slavery necklace.
It would have probably caused quite the disturbance. Lily had to applaud Adounis’ for thinking this far. Her already good impression of him was raised another bar.
The two families looked at each other confused. What had happened? They asked through their eyes, but not one of them had seen what exactly happened, except for one…
Herald almost cried together with Sevianna. But he wasn’t going to embarrass himself in front of so many prestigious guests, so he held it in. Still, his eyes had visibly reddened. If he could get the same experience with love, he’d be one of the happiest men alive.
This incredibly rare wedding had ended with a little surprise and confusion, and everyone knew that from that moment on, the angels and devils had to stop all forms of disputes – well at least at the surface level.
As the guests were leaving, they felt a bit fuzzy inside, especially the unmarried maidens. Although they had no idea why the bride suddenly cried, they could tell that those tears were a mixture of happiness and relief. Such a scene, made them formulate their own stories with extravagant drama and unrealistic lines.
Sevianna’s and Adounis’ wedding was just the beginning. Sooner or later, there would be a craze for mixed-race weddings, and the still hostile angels and devils could never have thought that they could really coexist. But that was a scene in the future.
At the present, in the large living room of Stella’s main castle, Sevianna was leaning on Adounis chest and continued to cry. Her continuous little sobs made everyone – except for Herald – panic.
Adounis was patting Sevianna’s back softly while wearing a wry smile. He didn’t know exactly why, but for some reason, he could tell that he was the reason for her tears. He continued to pat her while feeling a bit guilty.
“Baby~ don’t cry~” Selyph also realized that her daughter was crying out of sentimental emotions, so although she still felt panic in her heart, she was calmer. Likewise, another expert in love, Sheila had an idea for Sevianna’s tears. Her heart warmed at the thought, but she still helplessly smiled together with Selyph.
“What did you do?” Nathaniel, as the strictest person in the family, directed his menacing glare at Adounis.
“How is she crying already when you’ve just married? Indeed, what did you do?” Kleid was smiling while he asked. But that smile had brought the atmosphere in the room into a freezing temperature.
Claude did not butt in. His scary eyes had said it all.
Adounis didn’t know what to say.
“You lot! Is this how you treat your new brother?! I raised you better than this!” Sheila quickly defended Adounis while looking like she was about to beat her sons up.
The three princes immediately sought shelter behind their father’s back. Although they had done it so gracefully with straight faces just by stepping three steps back. Anhel was instantly placed in the spotlight.
Sheila turned her glare to her husband, and Anhel could feel a cold sweat dripping down his forehead. He waved his hand frantically. “Enough enough. What’s important here is Little princess.”
Sheila hesitated before deciding to let her husband off. But next time, she wouldn’t be so merciful.
Sevianna only stopped crying when she felt her magic internally getting disturbed. It seemed to be drained by something around her stomach, and it was rapidly absorbing it nonstop. Sevianna felt weak and clutched at Adounis’ shirt.
“What’s wrong?” It was now Adounis’ turn to panic. Now that their souls were connected, he could tell that Sevianna was in pain. But what it was, he didn’t know.
Sevianna knitted her brows and subconsciously touch her stomach. “I- I don’t know.”
Her subtle actions drew the doubtful gazes of the women in the room. They looked at each other’s eyes and could see the disbelief in the other.
There was no way right?
But who knows how long they had been lovers?
Their eyes simultaneously brightened.
“Baby, could sit on the couch for me?” Selyph reached for her daughter and gently led her to a soft couch – Adounis tagged along.
Sheila had rushed out of the room, spoke a few words to the guard outside, and came back with an anxious but eager face. The men looked at each other but found that not even their high IQ could let them guess what the women were on about. It was still fine to the three princes, but Anhel and Devian could feel their pride taking a blow.
Moments later, an elderly woman, wearing a white robe, entered the room. She looked benevolent as a smile graced her face. Seeing this elder enter, the men finally understood. And their backs couldn’t help but straighten as their hearts were filled with hope. It was Devian who was especially expectant.
The elder unhurriedly walked towards Sevianna, but as soon as she reached halfway through the room, her eyes widened. She quickly strode to the girl – still wearing her beautiful gown – and stoop down to look from below.
“Princess, please take no offence.” She cautiously raised her hand in front of Sevianna’s belly. A yellow halo was forming in her hand, but before it could solidify, it went to Sevianna’s belly.
Sevianna fluttered her eyes in bewilderment. What was going on? She asked the jubilant elder with her eyes.
“Very strong! Mn, no wonder the aura is intense! As expected of the heir~ This old lady is happy to be part of this wonderful occasion.” She stood up with a clap and stepped back far enough for her to see all the people in the room. Then she bowed. “Congratulations Your Majesties and Highnesses! The princess is carrying a male heir!”
Her words brought fireworks to their head. Sevianna was pregnant! And it was a male heir at that!
“Wonderful! Very wonderful!” Sheila and Selyph exclaimed in unison. Then they dragged the elder at the corner and discussed everything about the labour.
The men were also overjoyed. While the other party was expecting their grandniece and great-grandson, the other was just getting his grandson! Although he wasn’t biased against gender, the kingdom still needed a king to rule. Now that his son was getting his male heir, he could finally be completely at ease.
Sevianna was stunned as she kept her hands on her stomach. She only woke up from her surprise when a warm hand held hers. “How do you feel?” Adounis wasn’t much affected by the news. His priorities were still skewed. What he was more concerned about was Sevianna’s paling face.
Sevianna was startled by his overly concerned look. With blushing cheeks that brought colour back to her pale face, she looked away. “I’m fine. I just … feel weak.”
Adounis frowned at this. He turned towards the direction of the ladies in the room. “Mother, Sevianna said she feels weak. Is this normal?” He took the role of the son-in-law so smoothly that Sevianna’s pain was washed away – replaced by embarrassment as her face, down to her neck, was red.
Selyph paused for a moment, before grinning from ear to ear. “That’s right! Babies in bellies share the strength with their mother, so it is natural. But my baby’s heir is quite strong, which is probably why she is feeling weak.” By the end of her simple explanation, she too looked at Sevianna worriedly.
Sevianna rattled her hand left and right along with her head. “I’m fine! You don’t have to make such a big deal!” Her words were only met with doubtful gazes, making her pout in annoyance. She turned her attention back to her stomach and purposefully ignored everyone in the room.
Adounis sigh helplessly. “But you’re weak.” He massaged the bridge of his nose, feeling troubled. He didn’t know that this action of his made Sevianna remembered Shen Yan’s reaction to her first pregnancy. It was the same.
She carefully touched her belly and narrowed her eyes gently. Her firstborn was male again. Shall she name him according to her son in the last life? Shen Wei. Wei. Wayward? Mn. Let’s call this guy little Wayward~
The little guy hadn’t even been born but her mother had already named him. But it seemed as if he could understand his mother’s thoughts and finally held back in his magic absorption. Sevianna smiled slightly.
Adounis saw this smile from the corner of his eyes and his worries lessened. He gave her hair a peck and told her to stay put, before heading to the ladies’ table. He planned to know everything about childbearing.
Pregnancy in this world was not as simple as the last life. Sevianna had to constantly supply magic for her unborn child, weakening herself, and thus risking her life for any surprise attacks. Because of that, Adounis refused to take his eyes off of her and became even more overly protective – if only there was a specific word for it, Adounis would fit it perfectly.
But ever since Sevianna secretly named her son, the unborn child was obediently cooperating with her mother in the magic transaction. Sevianna was actually having fun with this. And Lily had to facepalm every time.
Adounis did not know that he need not worry about Sevianna ever collapsing from magic exhaustion. But even if he did, he might not stop his overprotectiveness and still continue his stalker-like guarding for as long as his son was still not born.
The only issue Sevianna found was the fact there was no specific or approximate time for childbearing. Which means, she could be giving birth any time and in any day. This fact only contributed to Adounis’ reason for his overprotectiveness.
As a result, she became akin to a freeloader in their new castle.
They had moved over to a new castle in-between Antitheus and Angelus – all because the two men couldn’t reach a consensus on where they should be living. So Adounis domineeringly decided to build a new one, and the location was accurately right in the middle.
Right at this moment, Sevianna was sitting in a gazebo with lighter toned animals near her feet. Fruits and tea were prepared in the table, and a vase of white lilies decorated its center. Her belly was already round. It had been a year since she was pregnant, and it didn’t seem like the little guy was planning to come out. Sevianna was willing to patiently wait, so she didn’t mind the extra weight.
Adounis came home to see the scene of his wife sitting with a pleased expression while watching the animals near her feet frolicking in the area. He automatically smiled. “Why are you alone? Where are the servants? They’re not slighting you are they?”
Sevianna shook her head right away. “I made them leave! Don’t go firing them now just because you don’t see them with me- hey!”
Adounis carried Sevianna and brought her to his lap. “You- ! Put me down!” Sevianna slapped her weak hand to his robust chest, and it tickled Adounis heart.
“Don’t be violent~ You’ll only hurt yourself. Look- ” Adounis took the hand that slapped him and found that it had already reddened. He brought them to his lips for a kiss. “You’ve gotten so fragile.”
Sevianna’s face instantly exploded. “I’m not! Besides, it’s Wayward’s fault!” She slapped his chest again with her other hand.
Her belly moved as if asking her why. She paused for a bit, before she ended up murmuring, “you have stayed so long in my belly. Surely you’ve noticed why I’m getting weak.”
Adounis chuckled as he had heard her murmurs clearly. “Then, tell him to come out soon~ We’ll take him for a ride on Shyvva’s back if he wants.”
