Aria’s Tales - Chapter 51 3.10 Miss Troublemaker
Qin Huang steeled her heart. One more day – just one more day, and she could finally start her plans for the first wish. She reluctantly forced herself to forget Teng Zexi’s existence and acted as if only Song Wen entered her eyes.
“It’s almost midnight, shouldn’t you be asleep already?” He said while wearing a worried face. But Qin Huang could see that his not-so-innocent eyes were shaking as it tried to subtly eye her up and down. His throat also bobbed while his lips were pursed.
‘Oh,’ Qin Huang blinked as she remembered how she ran out of her room without even checking her attire. ‘I’m wearing a purple nightgown.’
Lily abruptly looked up from her blueprint and facepalmed with her two paws when she heard her master’s thoughts. She, too, had not noticed her own master’s daring outfit and could not help but hit herself lightly for not noticing earlier. It was a thin-sleeved nightgown that only reached above Qin Huang’s knees, and her blonde straight hair was let down, occupying her shoulders, and her jaded feet were bare.
Her defenceless appearance completely boosted her feminine charms that it no longer mattered to anyone who saw her if she was a fox inside – she simply looked beautiful and pure!
Song Wen wasn’t the only one who couldn’t take his eyes off. Many guests and staffs, both men and women, were mesmerized by Qin Huang. There was a solid minute of them staring that if it was possible, Qin Huang would have long melted under their hot gazes.
Qin Huang tilted her head down and looked at herself. The people who had their eyes stuck to her couldn’t help but inhale a sharp cold breath as they waited for her reaction. Was she going to scream? run? or worse, cry?
It was none of their predictions.
Qin Huang raised her eyebrows and turned to look back at Song Wen. She crossed her arms and curved her lips into a seductive smile. “Like what you see?”
Song Wen’s heart almost leapt out of his chest. Her words seemed to have taken root in his mind as it was stuck on repeat. Does she not understand what kind of damage she just inflicted?? Song Wen’s heart felt weary for once. He had never felt so helpless in his life – to think he would experience it this way, he didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
He cleared his throat and smiled brightly, looking like the perfect gentleman – save for the fact that his eyes had considerably darkened.
“I do. Better if there was none, but you aren’t thinking of doing a public striptease now, are you?”
Qin Huang timely made a surprised look. Her ears reddened as she bit her lips and glared at Song Wen. Internally, however, she had already come up with numerous plans on how to murder – cough cough – on how to take him down.
She stormed off of the lobby and got back to her room while keeping a pouty face. Her cherry and daring look was too dangerous that it made the onlookers trip unto nothing.
While she was throwing a silent tantrum, dark and questioning eyes followed her all the way to when she entered the elevator.
Teng Zexi’s cold heart had moved. Why was that girl’s presence so familiar? Even though she clearly looked nothing like the person in his heart, he was getting the urge to catch the blonde girl. He fixed his gaze at the closed elevator as he thought deeply. But his phone suddenly rang and interrupted his thoughts.
After a swift tap without even checking who the caller was, he placed it on his ears. “Hm.” He hummed out a greeting.
Qin Cheng’s cold voice came through making Teng Zexi straighten his back subconsciously. “We’ve found a lead. She is at Lotux Hotel.”
He sounded as if he was on a hurry as he merely said those two sentences and immediately hanged up. But that was all it took to revive the dead-looking Teng Zexi.
Teng Zexi abruptly looked at the closed elevator once again – scaring the living daylights of the staff that noticed – and etched the blonde girl’s appearance to his mind. He wasn’t absolutely sure, but he was ready to do anything to find Qin Huang – including following his instincts which he rarely ever do.
The next day, the oblivious Qin Huang was sitting on the same poker table with Song Wen. It was their usual hangout spot. As always, Qin Huang was raking the wins every time she played. Song Wen would only win when she takes a break or becomes bored.
The scene of Song Wen trying to entertain the bored-looking Qin Huang had become so familiar that the people who knew them had become numb. Today, however, another exciting scene was about to happen.
“Good evening Mr. Song.” A cute female voice chimed in before Song Wen could speak with Qin Huang. He got irritated by it and furrowed his brows as he turned to the source of the voice.
It was Xia Xinyi. She was holding Cai De’s arms while smiling sweetly.
Qin Huang, whose back was turned, did not take a glance. Even when she badly wanted to glare at the couple – she already assumed Cai De was with Xia Xinyi, she did not show even a hint of interest on her beautiful face.
Xia Xinyi was slightly surprised at Song Wen’s annoyed look, but that didn’t stop her ever smiling face. Rather, her smile brightened. “Mr. Song, we haven’t seen each other for a long time. How have you been?” She says this as she naturally guided Cai De to sit beside Song Wen. Then, she finally noticed the blonde girl. “Excuse me miss, could you scoot over to the side?”
Qin Huang could not stop herself from raising one of her eyebrows. She turned around unhurriedly and eyed Xia Xinyi from top to bottom, sneered slightly, and got up.
Song Wen took instinctively stopped her by holding her bare arm. “No need. Stay where you are.”
Xia Xinyi was in utter disbelief. First, because of the beautiful woman in front of her, and second, because of how Song Wen was treating her. She bit her lips to try and stop her complaints. After all, despite her background being one of the higher class, she still needed to show respect to this man.
Song Wen was their top investor for their business. They mustn’t slight him even if it is a little bit.
Qin Huang gently pried off Song Wen’s hand and nonchalantly waved hers. She also took her glass of drink with her. But she didn’t leave. Instead, she went towards the dealer and placed her drink not too far the edge of the table. Unfortunately, no one had noticed as everyone was looking at her face. “Let me deal the cards.”
The dealer widened his eyes before looking at Song Wen’s direction. Seeing him nod with an amused face, the dealer left the spot for Qin Huang to take over.
Xia Xinyi had already awoken from her stupor and was about to take a seat, with a similarly surprised Cai De by her side, when they heard Qin Huang’s words loud and clear. She wondered what kind of identity this woman had to be able to attract Song Wen’s attention. She wasn’t happy with the special treatment, but she had to hold it in – for now.
She was already planning to ask her parents to investigate this blonde woman’s background later. If she wasn’t worthy enough for Song Wen, there was no need to be too cautious with the woman in private.
The game continued with Qin Huang as the dealer. Of course, she didn’t forget to show off a few her skills – making the cards fly from one hand to another, shuffling the cards quickly and neatly, and dealing them swiftly. But while the game was in progress, Xia Xinyi had been talking to Song Wen, giving the man no time to talk to Qin Huang which made him more and more irritated. If not for Qin Huang’s presence, he would have long stormed off.
By the fourth round, Xia Xinyi’s mouth twitched at the number of zeroes of her huge loss. Since chips would be a hassle to bring, the casino had used cards for betting. And right now, Xia Xinyi’s card had more than -50 million in her account.
This was just poker, right? It’s just a game of cards, right?! The amount didn’t really scratch at her capital, but she couldn’t believe she was losing so much for a card game.
Cai De beside her didn’t say anything but the loss had already made him grieve internally. So this was how the rich play…
Song Wen amusedly played along but as a veteran, he had already noticed Qin Huang’s subtle movements. Even the original dealer was enjoying the show.
Xia Xinyi started to get serious and focused on the game. She finally noticed that more than three times, the same queen of hearts would show on the table as if mocking her for being ignorant and not noticing it earlier. She suddenly slammed her hand on the table and attracted the surrounding table’s attention.
“What is this?!” Song Wen’s presence had long left her mind as anger took over.
Xia Xinyi’s loud voice had startled Qin Huang, and coupled with the slam that triggered her drink to fall over to her branded white dress, she was in a fluster. She looked at the stain on her dress with disgust and glared at Xia Xinyi. Finally getting an appropriate excuse to satisfy her own anger.
Xia Xinyi jerked and stepped back. She noticed that everyone’s eyes that were on her were full of hostility. Their faces may still look calm but it was not difficult to see the disappointment in their eyes – especially from the men. It did nothing to soothe her rage. It fueled it instead.
“What are you all looking at?! Need me to poke your eyes??”
Her emotions were getting the best of her that all thoughts about acting like a proper lady seemed to fly off. Song Wen’s disapproving eyes was getting even more evident, and even Cai De was wondering where was the usual gentle Xia Xinyi.
Qin Huang and Lily high fived. ‘Master~ I saw Zhelan sprinkle something in her drink earlier~ Do you know what it was?’ Lily tilted and innocently asked. She was genuinely ignorant of these things as every time she asked, Qin Huang would just pat her head in response.
As such, Qin Huang didn’t say anything and merely tickled the rabbit for distraction. It worked. Lily was too busy laughing and protecting herself from her master’s naughty hands that she forgot her question.
Meanwhile, Xia Xinyi was glaring at every single person that looked at her. Her reddened eyes just made everyone question their initial impressions of her. Song Wen couldn’t care less and get up from his seat. He walked over to the still flustered Qin Huang, who was searching for any tissues nearby, and handed the handkerchief he took from his pocket. He thanked the heavens for his habit of bringing one.
“Use this and let’s go to your room.”
Qin Huang paused and stared at the purple handkerchief with exquisite artwork. It was obvious that it was an expensive item, yet she was about to use it to wipe the stain in her dress. She hesitantly took it. Unfortunately, her drink was a glass of red wine and against her pure white dress, the stain was smudged and left an embarrassing colour.
Her face turned beet red. It was the first time Song Wen had seen someone with such a red face that he couldn’t help but laugh, but he quickly stopped midway as Qin Huang glared at him.
Song Wen took off his black suit and handed it to Qin Huang. Seeing her glare soften, his heart was also filled with mirth.
