Army of True Salvation - Chapter 149:Tonight I'm Getting Over You
Veon and the kidnapper left just to carry on with the challenge to look for a gem. Shannara sat on the ground and sighed deeply. “What now,” she whispered to herself as she waited alone.
She couldn’t follow them. What if she did? Maybe she would risk Veon’s safety if she didn’t follow the kidnapper’s rules. Shannara wouldn’t want to harm Veon.
She looked at her phone and noticed that it was close to its battery being drained. She wondered to herself if Tyler, Isobel, and Dannie were safe, considering that they disappeared because of Dannie walking out.
“What is with that kidnapper to have made Dannie react that way,” Shannara whispered to herself.
She hugged both of her knees and she rested her chin on them. She rocked back and forth then she started to sing a song to pass the time.
She was thinking of Veon. She remembered of the conversations they had, her confession to him, her decision of giving up on him because Veon didn’t love her back.
She started to remember their old conversations, way back when they were in elementary. She remembered of the time they became close until she realized that she already had fallen for him at an early age. She kept thinking of these memories as she sang Carly Rae Jepsen’s song: Tonight I’m Getting Over You.
I wanna smash your fears
And get drunken off your tears
Don’t you share your smile with anyone else but me
I’m gonna crush it in my hands
Make it bleed and cry as you give up all the lies
When she sang that song, she felt as if she was forcing Veon to love her back. Veon was the first person she ever fell in love with. Is it true when people say that people’s first love never dies?
Shannara sighed, shook her head, then continued singing the other part of the song.
We’re not lovers… but more than friends
Put a flame to every single word you ever said
No more crying… to get me through
I’ll keep dancing ’til the morning with somebody new
Tonight I’m getting over you
When she sang that part of the song, she suddenly stopped. She didn’t want to continue the other lyrics of the song. She felt how relatable it was and how it really fits her situation as of the moment. They couldn’t progress more into becoming a couple, but they would just continue into being friends.
Shannara thought that she might be stupid for having feelings with a guy who was in love with someone else. Deep inside, she actually hoped for Veon liking her back. As much as possible, though, she wants to really give up on him because she wouldn’t want to end up as a hopeless romantic.
“Shannara, if you continue to love Veon, you would just hurt yourself more in the process. Don’t be more stupid than you already are,” she whispered herself as she closed her hands into tight fists.
How could she give up? Would she look for another person to fall in love with?
Shannara shook her head. She realized she didn’t need another man to forget the one she currently loves. She could just focus on herself instead and forget her feelings for Veon in the process.
Shannara sighed as she stood up, shaking her head out of her thoughts. She looked at the apartment in front of her, and observed her surroundings.
Sheloah’s inside. Shannara thought that she couldn’t just sit down and wait for the boys to finish their challenge. While she’s here, she has to make up most of the time by searching alternative ways to look for Sheloah.
