Army of True Salvation - Chapter 153:This is Not Part of the Plan
They were surprised when the boys heard the screams of Shannara.
“Kreiss, we need to go back,” Veon said and they heard another scream before Kreiss nodded, agreeing to what Veon said.
They both ran going back to the apartment but they were suddenly stopped when they saw zombies in front of them. They need to eliminate these zombies first before they continue running.
“This is not part of the plan,” Kreiss mumbled to himself while he held his katana tight, preparing for an attack. Some zombies noticed them and decided to approach the boys.
“Are you ready,” Kreiss asked as Veon reloaded his gun for the attack.
“Ready,” Veon said and they both ran to attack the zombies that they came across.
Veon was shooting the zombies while Kreiss focused on close-ranged combat. Veon had no intention of harming Kreiss. Their utmost priority now is their escape and for them to save the girls.
“Kreiss, dodge!”
Veon shouted when he noticed that there was a zombie behind him. Kreiss dodged and Veon accurately shot the zombie on the head. Kreiss gave Veon a thumbs up, appreciating the help.
Kreiss started attacking the other zombies near him and Veon noticed that despite being quick in his attacks, he still needed to be alert for him to attack the other zombies near Kreiss.
Most of their enemies now are normal zombies and the boys killed them with great accuracy, making them finish this wave of zombie in a jiffy.
Kreiss ran to Veon and stayed by his side. When Veon saw him, he instinctively looked at his back and noticed that he wasn’t aware that there was a zombie behind him.
“Veon, out of the way!”
The moment Kreiss said this, Veon moved to the side quickly, making Kreiss kill the zombie in one slash. Veon also admitted that he too, wasn’t too aware of his surroundings.
“Thanks,” Veon thanked him and Kreiss nodded, acknowledging his gratitude.
Their battle lasted for almost ten minutes. Veon noticed that his two pouches of ammo would be completely consumed soon. They need to escape now, or else, they won’t be having extra bullets for the battle ahead if ever an emergency arises.
Kreiss’ back touched Veon’s and he sighed, making an assessment of their situation. “I take the last three, and you take the last two. After that, we run.”
Two boys understood each other. They both ran to their last remaining targets and killed them efficiently. Once they were done, they looked at each other, tired of their battle against the undead army.
“Let’s… go,” Veon said in between breaths. Kreiss nodded and both of them ran towards the apartment.
After a few minutes, they arrived and the two were surprised to have seen the situation in front of them.
