Army of True Salvation - Chapter 162:Who's Kreiss, Really?
They got gas from Kreiss’ apartment and refilled Veon’s car. He was already driving fast back to Dannie’s house.
Sheloah sat in the passenger’s seat while on the back was Shannara. For Kreiss, he rode his motorcycle.
What made them wonder is why he knew so well the path going to Dannie’s house. Like he seemed really familiar with it.
Who’s Kreiss, really?
Veon was speeding up again and this made Sheloah touch his shoulder, trying to calm him.
“Hey, slow down a bit,” she said and Veon did listen to her.
Sheloah looked at the side mirror and she noticed that Shannara was looking out the window. Their situation is currently quiet, making it awkward.
Honestly, Veon and Shannara couldn’t keep their minds off from what Kreiss did to Sheloah. He kissed her in front of them so suddenly.
Even Sheloah thought of it from time to time. Sheloah struggled because it was the first time someone confessed to her as well.
Hell, it was even her first kiss!
Sheloah suddenly coughed, making Shannara take side glances at her to check up on her. Veon did, too… but Sheloah just ignored the two, laughed awkwardly then said it was nothing.
The atmosphere went silent again. Sheloah also had speculations about Veon’s behavior. Since the event that happened a while ago between her and Kreiss, Sheloah suspected that Veon turned somewhat cold or indifferent. Even simple words like yes or no whenever Sheloah asks, he couldn’t answer verbally. He would just nod or shook his head.
Sheloah stopped her thoughts for a while the moment they already arrived in front of Dannie’s house. They noticed that there were a lot of dead zombies on the ground and panic arose within the teenagers, causing them to be alert and be worried of others.
The house was unusually quiet. If there were zombies around, wouldn’t they hear noises? Would this indicate that they are all safe?
They opened the gate slowly, then closed it. Veon held the doorknob of the main door but they were all startled when they saw Dean pointing his gun at them. This made the four raise their hands, indicating that they were unarmed and that it was them.
“Hi,” Kreiss said, greeting Dean and the teenager just stared at the stranger.
“Who’s this?”
Shannara spoke. “Sheloah’s ‘nice’ kidnapper,” she said and she rolled her eyes as she talked. Dean’s eyes widened in disbelief.
“You brought her kidnapper here,” he asked and Shannara scoffed, not understanding either. Veon and Sheloah neither spoke so Dean just led the four of them inside the house.
The moment they entered, Sheloah was suddenly greeted by her mother, aunt, uncle, and cousins. The girl was suddenly teary eyed when she saw them. She hugged them all tightly, especially her mother.
“I’ve been worried sick! I feel like an irresponsible parent. I haven’t been sleeping, knowing that you were taken from us,” her mother said and with that, Sheloah could no longer hold back her tears.
“Mom, I’m sorry… but nothing bad happened, really. I’m fine,” Sheloah said then her mom kissed her daughter’s forehead.
“I’m just glad that you’re back. I love you, Sheloah,” her mother said and Sheloah smiled warmly as she wiped her tears away.
“I love you too, mom,” Sheloah replied and when she looked back, Veon and Shannara nodded at her mother, greeting her and indicating that they did their best getting Sheloah back.
