Army of True Salvation - Chapter 166:We Have to Go
They were already in Manila and are about to reach the airport.
They chose NAIA because one of the parents of their classmates once worked here. He was a pilot on one of the planes in NAIA. There were indeed other airports like Clark, but the father of their classmate was not familiar of the place.
The group was already running on the streets because their vehicles broke down. There were many zombies here in the main city compared to other places where they came from.
Most of the zombies they encountered were the usual ones, and no unusual species that they’ve encountered before emerged, except for the tank zombie and the witch they have encountered.
Veon held Sheloah’s hand. “Hurry,” he said then he pulled Sheloah as they ran. Sheloah tried to attack zombies but they were too many.
There were already a lot in their group who died—turned into zombies. Even the comrades of Geof was slowly disappearing. Their group’s population is quickly lowering down.
Tyler is even injured. The only ones left to attack are Sheloah, Shannara, Veon, Kreiss and Sheloah’s uncle.
They might even give up for a while due to fatigue. There are too many zombies around them and attacking all of them would really seem impossible. Even their escape now would seem minimal.
Kreiss pulled Shannara to his side. “Shan, let’s go,” he said then Shannara followed him, shooting zombies as they go.
Tyler stayed in the middle of the group, together with the pilot. Tyler is currently injured so what he could do is to protect the pilot and stay beside him. Even Isobel stayed with them since she is their main medic.
Kreiss is the main attacker who stayed beside the pilot. He’s quick in his attacks and he played a crucial role. Veon took the lead, together with Sheloah. While Shannara did her best protecting the pilot from the back.
As for Geof, he couldn’t make it.
Once in a while, they would stop to one side to rest if they find an alley with no zombies.
They saw one alley and they decided to rest. “Guys, we have to stop for a while. Tito Jun’s tired,” Isobel said.
They all looked at Sheloah’s uncle and noticed that he was indeed tired of running. They quickly saw an alley and decided to rest there.
“Go ahead. Kreiss and I will do something about the zombies following us,” Shannara said then they stopped, trying to buy them some time. “We’ll follow once we can,” she added and the others rushed to the alley to rest.
While they were running to the alley, one zombie unexpectedly jumped on Sheloah, scratching her arm.
“Agh!”
Isobel instinctively looked at her best friend.
“Hang on, Sheloah! I’ll fix that up once we arrive in the alley,” Isobel said and they ran as quick as they could towards the alley then rested.
They hid behind a dumpster and sat on the ground. They were all tired except for Isobel. She was tired, yes… but her main priority was treating people who are injured or wounded.
The pilot looked at Sheloah and spoke gently. “Don’t panic,” he said trying to calm her. “It’s not that serious, don’t worry,” he added and Sheloah nodded, looking at her wound.
Isobel examined Sheloah’s wound. She removed Sheloah’s sleeves and got surprised when she noticed that her wound was scratched deeply. It was around three inches long and her arm started bleeding uncontrollably. The moment Sheloah saw her wound, she avoided looking at it and started whimpering in pain.
“I have to disinfect it,” Isobel said as she rummaged her bag. She got a bottled water, and soap from the place they stayed in. There was no alcohol, so they can only manage with this.
Isobel looked at her best friend seriously. “Sheloah, I’m sorry… but you have to man up. I’ll do this quick,” she said then she opened the bottle of water. “Here we go.” Isobel poured the water on Sheloah’s wound then she quickly washed it with soap.
Sheloah started crying as she tried her best to make her arm firm for Isobel to treat. Veon held her hand tightly to comfort her.
Isobel was done and she spoke to Tyler. “I need cloth.” Tyler quickly got cloth from her bag and Isobel used it to cover Sheloah’s wound.
“Okay. Done,” Isobel said and Sheloah sighed. The medic looked at Sheloah’s uncle then spoke to him. “How about you, are you okay,” she asked and Jun nodded.
“I’ve rested enough,” he said and Kreiss and Shannara already came, reuniting with the group.
“We have to go. We can’t stay here much longer,” Kreiss said then everyone nodded then stood up to continue their final mission.
