Army of True Salvation - Chapter 167:Life is Cruel
Veon looked at Sheloah. “Can you fight,” he asked and Sheloah nodded, holding her katana tightly.
“I can,” she said flatly and everyone nodded.
“Let’s go then,” Veon said then everyone ran towards NAIA airport.
In just a short while, they would really leave the place. They hope to leave the place. A lot has happened before this and they can’t give up now.
Life is indeed cruel. People died along the way. They just had to accept that not everyone can go.
As they were running, they were surprised when they heard an explosion from behind them. It was a car that was exposed to fire and when they looked at it, they were shocked to see Kreiss on the ground.
“Kreiss!”
Sheloah’s eyes widened then she looked at Isobel beside her. “Isobel, his leg!”
Isobel ran to him and she quickly tore the cloth blocking Kreiss’ wound. “Veon, get some more cloth from my bag,” she said and Veon did so. Isobel carefully poured water on the cloth. “We have to remove the glass—”
Isobel couldn’t finish what she said. Kreiss aggressively removed the glass on his leg, making him bleed more. He winced in pain but he endured it. Isobel shot him an angry look.
“You could have let me handle it!”
Kreiss shouted. “We don’t have much time! Hurry up!
“Tsk!”
As Isobel quickly treated Kreiss, everyone who could fight did their best in killing the zombies around them, buying time for Isobel.
After a few minutes, Isobel was done treating Kreiss and she helped him stand up. “Can you walk,” she asked and Kreiss couldn’t answer.
“Damn…”
All of them looked at Kreiss who now seemed to be a lost case. Their best attacker now seemed to be a disadvantage to them, who might pull the group down because of his current situation.
Sheloah went beside Kreiss and supported him. “We can’t give up on him now. Let’s all run,” she said and Veon helped in supporting Kreiss, too.
“Shit!” Shannara suddenly exclaimed and everyone looked at her as she threw her gun away, frustrated. “I’m out of bullets!”
Kreiss looked at her. “Get my emergency gun from my pocket. Use it,” he said and Shannara quickly took his gun from his back pocket.
“Let’s go,” Sheloah’s uncle said then everyone ran as fast as they could while they protected the pilot, Tyler, and Kreiss.
“Just a little bit… we’ll get there,” Isobel mumbled, hoping they’d arrive at the airport soon for them to escape the country.
Everyone tried their best to attack despite the current situation they are in now. Most of them are wounded. Most of them are tired. But they can’t afford to stop or else, everyone would be offering their lives to the zombie.
They were one complete class. They were a big group. And now it had reduced to this number.
It hurt them… it hurt all of them. They stayed together and have already considered themselves as family. And now leaving the place with only a few people left? It shattered their hopes of leaving the country together as one big group—as a family.
