Army of True Salvation - Chapter 169:Kill Me Now!
Everyone ran towards the plane. They were doing their best in protecting the pilot. Isobel stayed on the left, Shannara stayed on the right, and Jun stayed on the left. In front was Veon and Sheloah taking the lead.
They arrived near the plane and they quickly ascended the stairs. The pilot quickly went inside but everyone was stopped in their tracks when they heard Sheloah scream.
They looked back and they noticed that Sheloah was bitten by a zombie on the neck.
“Sheloah!”
Everyone shouted her name as the girl did her best to get rid of the zombie behind her. She gripped her katana then impaled the zombie, making the zombie fall down the stairs.
Sheloah sat on the ground, feeling weakened and everyone rushed inside then shut the door, making them all safe for now but…
Sheloah’s now turning into a zombie.
“All planes have emergency kits. There’s one at the back,” the pilot said as he made his way to prepare the plane’s ascend.
Veon looked at Sheloah and she noticed that her skin was slowly changing. Slowly, her breaths became erratic and even her eyes were changing.
This made Veon cry.
“Sheloah…”
Veon held her hand and everyone went to Sheloah, worried and saddened. They were crying, too… especially Sheloah’s uncle. He treated her as if she was his own daughter.
“What are we going to do? Sheloah’s going to turn into a zombie, right,” Shannara said then she clenched her fist. “What can the emergency kit do!?”
“First Kreiss… and now you,” Tyler mumbled to himself as he punched the door beside him, making his knuckles bleed.
Sheloah looked at them as she held her neck. “It hurts…”
With what she said, everyone went quiet as they looked at her, desperate to stop turning her into a zombie.
But what can they do? There are no reported cures yet. They couldn’t leave her behind either even if they knew that she is going to be turned into a zombie.
They know that they have to do the worse scenario like what happened with Josh and Kreiss… but losing another one? They found it unbearable to do so.
“My body is slowly aching. My heart beat is doubling its pace. My body’s becoming hotter… this is probably what Josh had felt,” Sheloah said then Isobel cried.
“Shut up! We’ll find a way,” her best friend said then Sheloah cried as well.
“What can you all possibly do?! You have to kill me now!”
Jun was crying out loud as he looked as his niece. “You know damn well that we can’t do that! You’re asking too much!”
“But I might kill you all, don’t you see!? I’m just one person… but you’re many!”
Veon looked at her with pain in his eyes. “Sheloah, please… stop saying nonsense. We’ll detain you and then they’ll—”
Sheloah shot him a look. “Stop spouting nonsense! Veon, you’re not stupid!”
Sheloah tried her best to stand, making the seat beside her as her support. “You’ll detain me and then what? I get released and may turn everyone into zombies? Don’t risk it.”
Shannara shook her head violently. “There must be another way.”
“There won’t be another way!”
Sheloah shouted at the top of her lungs, frustrated and obviously in pain.
“If you want to help me, then save me out of my misery. You have to stop me. Or else… I might hurt everyone. That would hurt me even more…”
Everyone went silent then at this point, Sheloah was already at the brink of insanity.
“I’m turning into one! Please… KILL ME NOW!”
“We lost most of our comrades. We lost Josh. Then we lost Kreiss. Now we’re losing you too?” Tyler said this with sadness emphasized in each word he said.
Veon’s heart was aching. He lost his parents. Then he lost Josh. His comrades died, too. And Kreiss sacrificed themselves for them.
Now he’s about to lose Sheloah, too?
This is indeed unbearable for him.
Everyone was surprised to hear Sheloah shout in pain. Everyone looked at her worriedly. They didn’t know what to do in order to save her. They knew that they have to kill her sooner or later… but they find it impossible to do so.
“Get away… get back. I don’t want to hurt you,” Sheloah said with fierceness in her eyes.
“Shelo—”
One of her eyes turned white, making Sheloah scream once more.
“Kill me now!”
Shannara and Isobel hugged each other and Sheloah’s uncle uncontrollably cried at the side. Tyler sat on the ground, crying his eyes out, while Veon looked at her, with pain in his eyes.
‘It hurts…’
Veon slowly approached Sheloah but when he did, she gave him a warning and pushed him away.
“Go away, Veon!”
Veon embraced her tightly while she was still sane.
“Sheloah, you’re asking too much… I can’t kill you,” Veon said as he cried on Sheloah’s shoulder.
Veon hugged her tight.
“Even if you say that, I can’t do it.” Veon looked at her, desperate to rescue her.
“I can’t do it because—”
