Army of True Salvation - Chapter 175:Dannie and Uncle John
Kreiss suddenly choked on his food, making Dannie and John look at him.
“What’s wrong with you,” Dannie said as she patted his back and gave him a glass of water.
Kreiss suddenly remembered what his uncle told him last night that’s why he suddenly choked on his food.
“Kreiss, we will have a training later after a two-hour rest. We already explained the plans to you last night before we slept. Make sure you can concentrate later,” he said and Kreiss nodded.
What his uncle said was true. He half guessed that Kreiss will give the gem to Sheloah but not in a proposal type of way, but he wanted Sheloah to know how genuine his feelings are to her.
‘Love makes you stupid…’
Kreiss sighed then drank more water.
He actually planned to woo Sheloah that’s why he confessed to her. Heck, kissing her was even part of his plan in provoking Veon but honestly, he felt happy to have kissed the girl.
But maybe it would be a completely different feeling if the girl he kissed loved him back.
Only Shannara would understand how dreadful this would feel.
Kreiss fixed his plate on the side of the table and he stood up. “Thanks for the food,” he thanked them then he stood up, walking towards the door.
“Kreiss, the three of us are the only family left.”
The moment his uncle said this, he stopped in his tracks and only held the doorknob.
“Don’t do reckless things again. You may never know when your life might be taken away from you. Much less ours, too,” he added then Kreiss turned the doorknob and only said two words before he left the room.
“I know.”
Kreiss knows. He knows completely well that only the three of them were left in their family clan. He also knew in his heart how deeply Dannie and his uncle are important in his life.
He wasn’t close with his parents. The one he treated as his father was his uncle and he treated Dannie as his sibling. Ever since he was a child until he grew up, Kreiss only vented his feelings to the both of them. They scold them too, yes… but the two of them were more open minded compared to his parents and they support him in what makes him happy.
Kreiss went out and saw the others conversing with each other. He just looked at them, not having the intention to talk to them yet. He wanted some time on his own.
He actually finds it awkward to come near them. After all the things that happened last night, he didn’t know what to say to them if ever he’s going to talk to them.
Kreiss sighed then was a bit startled when Dannie stood beside him.
“Hey,” she greeted him as she leaned her head on Kreiss’ shoulder.
“Hey,” he greeted her too then Dannie smiled at her.
They act like siblings and to Kreiss, she is indeed a sister. He may be cold to her at most times, but she was important in his life and Dannie felt it.
“Whatever.”
Shannara giggled. “I still love you though,” she said as she pinched Kreiss’ arm.
Dannie was mad at him because Kreiss left their house a month ago without saying a word. They fought that time because he was confused about his decisions and he wanted to be alone. He was quite a delinquent in nature, too.
What irritated him sometimes was Dannie forcing her opinions on him without even hearing his side. He got fed up that’s why he ran away and stayed in their apartment here in the province.
His uncle left him be, but Dannie did not, making Kreiss leave in secret. But now that it’s the zombie apocalypse, his uncle got angry at him because Kreiss didn’t even bother contacting him, less replying to his uncle’s messages.
“Dannie,” he said her cousin’s name and Dannie looked at him. “Thank you and I’m sorry for everything,” he said and Dannie was taken aback. She did not expect him to be like this.
Kreiss wasn’t expressive with his words most of the time. He found this awkward so he hit Dannie’s head playfully, making her look at him.
“What the?”
Dannie punched Kreiss’ arm and this made them tease each other like they used to.
‘Dannie and Uncle John… they are really my precious family.’
