Army of True Salvation - Chapter 177:I Respectfully Decline
The training already started.
Sheloah suggested that there would be one or two from the group who would join the sniper team and the first person who came to mind was Ashley.
Despite the name, Ashley is actually a boy. He’s the intelligent one in class but also one of the lazy ones. He’s good at hacking, and he also loves playing video games and watching animes, too. He always knew what to do when it comes to computers and he absolutely loved assembling them. He also sleeps most of the time in class but even then, when he wakes up, he would know what to do.
They saw Ashley lying on a bench, under the tree. Sheloah, Veon, and Dannie approached him to talk to him about joining the sniper team.
“Ashley,” Sheloah called for his attention then she poked his arm.
Ashley grumbled and he just continued napping. Sheloah sighed then she folded her arms in front of her chest.
“Ashley, we have to talk,” Veon said but Ashley just looked at him as he squinted his eyes, then he went back to napping.
The two sighed, except for Dannie who just rolled her eyes. She was closer to Ashley and she can get annoying when she wants to.
“Ash, wake up!”
When Dannie said this, she hit Ashley on the head, making him wince in pain. He sat up, then yawned while the three were waiting for him to adjust himself.
Ashley was rubbing his eyes then he wore his eyeglasses. “What,” he asked, slightly annoyed that his nap was disturbed.
“You’ll be joining the sniper team,” Veon said then Ashley raised his eye brow.
“Me? In the sniper team?” Ashley scoffed.
“What, is something wrong,” Dannie asked with annoyance in her voice.
Ashley shook his head. “I respectfully decline,” he said, surprising the three.
“Why not,” Dannie said as she puffed her cheeks in annoyance.
“I’m just not into it. I’m lazy,” Ashley answered then the three of them sighed.
‘Recruiting him is a bit difficult than we thought…’
“But this is important! We’re about to do something serious,” Sheloah said, trying to convince him but Ashley still shook his head.
“I’m already good being one of the attackers. Why scout me for the sniper team,” Ashley said and asked. Dannie grew furious at this point.
“Why don’t you feed your chubby self to the zombies if you’re useless,” she said then Ashley laughed.
“If I’m useless, then I shouldn’t have helped in any task. I’m an attacker, aren’t I,” Ashley said then Dannie sighed, exasperated.
“Why couldn’t you join? Is what you said really the reason,” Dannie asked, feeling hopeless but Ashley spoke anyway.
“If you have the gun that I want, I may join,” Ashley said then the face of the three lit up.
“Maybe Dannie’s father has the gun you seek,” Veon said, making Ashley look at Dannie expectantly.
“Really? He has it,” he asked, waiting for Dannie’s answer.
Dannie cleared her throat, unsure of what to say but she wouldn’t want to let go of Ashley now that they got his attention.
“What gun are you looking for,” the girl asked, feeling confident. Ashley stood up then started speaking enthusiastically.
“A fifty cal sniper rifle. Specifically, a rifle called Barrett M82 or Barrett M107,” he said then the three went speechless, especially Dannie.
“[1]Bareta, what?” Dannie sounded confused and this made Ashley notice her uncertainty.
“It’s a sniper rifle. Barrett M82 or M107. You know… designed by Ronnie Barrett, which the action is recoiled-operated with rotating volts,” Ashley added and the three showed weird expressions on their faces.
‘Such a nerd!’
