Army of True Salvation - Chapter 18:Hurry!
She shook her head from the discomfort she felt.
‘This isn’t the time to act girly because of a skirt! Zombies are not aware of it, anyway!’
Sheloah held the metal on the roof tightly with her left hand. When she was sure now that she could balance her body, she got her gun with her right hand and started to shoot zombies on their left and right side.
It may sound easy but it was actually very difficult. Sheloah realized that the scenes she had watched in action movies were not as easy as it seemed.
Sheloah saw her uncle’s car and she saw their teacher waving at them. He signaled to go straight to SM. They had waited for Sheloah and the others before her uncle started driving again.
“Veon, hurry! They’ll follow behind us!” Sheloah shouted.
“Hang on tight!”
Veon sped up the car. Sheloah held the two metal rods tightly as Veon was driving towards SM. Her uncle was following right behind them.
They reached the mall quick and they saw that what they had said before was indeed correct.
There were now a lot of zombies scattered around the mall. It was almost 6 in the evening. The sky was almost dark, and the cold air made Sheloah’s body shiver.
“Sheloah, go back inside! It’s no longer safe!” Veon shouted and when he drove slowly, Sheloah quickly went back inside the car through the window. The moment she sat down, Veon shouted again.
Sheloah looked at the side mirror and noticed that there were zombies coming their way. “Josh, Tyler!”
They acted quickly when Sheloah shouted. The two boys shot the zombies and kicked their bodies out of the back of the car. Tyler then closed the door. They all let out a sigh of relief.
‘That was close…’
Sheloah’s phone buzzed once more. “Sir Jim.”
“We will drive inside SM.”
Sheloah was surprised when she heard this.
“How will we drive inside? You mean… drive inside the building!?” She exclaimed and her uncle answered, indicating that he heard her.
“We have no choice. It’s a zombie apocalypse, anyway. No use for rules,” he said and Sheloah looked at Veon who was still driving.
“Okay. You said so,” Sheloah said as she hung up the call.
She looked at the driver. “Veon, we will drive the car inside SM,” she said and the three boys reacted in unison.
“Huh?!”
Sheloah just shrugged her shoulders. “They claimed it’s safer that way. No need to follow rules, they added.” She just told them and Veon just nodded his head slowly. He had no choice but to follow.
They saw that Sheloah’s uncle suddenly sped up and Veon did so as well. They were practically running over the zombies now.
Veon took a deep breath and released it slowly. “Hang on tight, guys.”
He sped up as the three of them hung on tight. The four of them were suddenly surprised when one zombie bumped her body in front of the car, leaving blood splattered on the glass. They were grateful that the glass didn’t get destroyed by the strong impact.
Sir Jim called Sheloah again. “What now,” Sheloah asked.
“To the gunshop,” Sir Jim replied shortly then he hung up the phone quickly.
They continued driving inside the mall when they noticed that there were quite a lot of zombies following them.
“They’re chasing us,” Sheloah said as she observed on the mirror. She opened her window and started shooting zombies near them.
“Be careful. There are a lot of zombies here compared outside,” Veon warned as Sheloah kept shooting zombies. Tyler and Josh opened their windows as well and they started shooting.
Once they were a bit clear, Sheloah called their teacher. “Next?”
Sheloah heard some gunshots on their end. “To the gun shop. Once you guys exit your car, run towards the shop. Shoot if you must.” He hung up the call and Sheloah relayed the instructions to the boys with her.
“Are they there already,” Josh asked and Sheloah shrugged her shoulders.
“I don’t know. If we see them running, we follow,” Sheloah just said and the three nodded at her.
In a few minutes, they saw Sir Jim and Sheloah’s uncle exit the car and started attacking zombies. This was a signal for the four of them to leave the car as well to follow them.
The two adults successfully entered the gun shop. Sir Jim quickly got a gun, reloaded it, and started shooting as well, helping Sheloah’s uncle. The students then started running towards the shop.
“Let’s go!”
The students started shooting zombies as well as they ran towards the shop. Sir Jim saw them approaching so he opened the heavy glass door.
“Hurry!”
Once they were now inside the shop, the two adults quickly closed the heavy glass doors and blocked it with heavy boxes present in the shop.
