Army of True Salvation - Chapter 185:Dimwit!
They already arrived at the mall and there were already a lot of challenges ahead of them. There were a lot of zombies in the mall. The good thing is, they still smell like zombies so nothing suspicious happened. There were some zombies looking at them, but they didn’t attack.
“Act dead. By act dead, move slow and don’t get caught,” Erick said and the others did so. They walked slowly, on high alert.
Sheloah was more nervous now than she was before. They were walking slowly and they had to look around, too. They could hear mostly the groans of the zombies. Since the mall is crowded, they would bump on to zombies from time to time. They would scream, but the group had to act as if nothing happened for them not to attract any suspicions.
Jun slowly got a paper from his pocket then gave it to Erick. “We need three carts of water. We also need a cart full of medicine. Also, we need food such as…”
The two adults were discussing about the things needed listed by their keeper, 4A’s class adviser, when suddenly, Veon held Sheloah’s hand, surprising her.
“Stay close,” he whispered to Sheloah and this made her look at him.
Why did he suddenly act this way? A while ago, he was so distant and he wasn’t talking much. Now he acts as if he’s Sheloah’s knight in shining armor.
Sheloah noticed that her mom was looking at her. She gave her daughter a teasing smile and Sheloah rolled her eyes at her mother.
Sheloah was about to speak to Veon about his dream when suddenly, Kreiss approached them. Sheloah was now in the middle, with two boys at both of her sides. This gave her a little bit of a headache.
The girl sighed silently. “What now? Don’t cause trouble!”
Kreiss pouted. “You’re so mean, princess…”
“Stop that attitude of yours. I have to keep my distance from you. Don’t you know my mom has eyes on you,” Sheloah said coldly and Kreiss winked.
“She has? I didn’t expect that,” he said and Sheloah did a face palm.
“I didn’t mean that, dimwit! You know what I mean. She despises you,” she said and she can indeed feel the glare of her mother on their backs.
“Don’t worry, princess. I’m just like Veon, wanting to protect you,” Kreiss said then Veon looked at him, raising his brow.
This made Sheloah remember to talk to Veon. She wanted to ask about his worries—about his dream.
“Hey, Veon? May I ask a question? It’s okay if you won’t answer, though…”
Veon looked at her from the corner of his eyes. “Okay. Then speak.”
“Why are you acting all silent and nervous,” Kreiss asked, taking the words out of Sheloah’s mouth.
Sheloah’s eyes widened in surprise. She didn’t expect Kreiss to ask that instead of her. Has he been observing them from the beginning?
Veon quinted his eyes at Kreiss. “Why are you asking me that?”
Kreiss shrugged. “Because Sheloah’s been wondering about that. It’s all written on her face. Why not answer the question to make her feel better,” he said and Veon let out a small sigh.
“I’m sorry, Sheloah… for worrying you,” Veon said and Sheloah looked at him. “I’m just scared that some things might happen. I just want to think of ways on how to protect you,” he said and Sheloah felt warm.
“What’s your dream about then? You’ve been telling that since the other day,” Sheloah said then Kreiss suddenly spoke.
“I think his dream involves Sheloah getting hurt,” he said and Veon suddenly looked at him surprised, like the boy hit a bull’s eye. “He won’t act this way unless the dream involves something else. If the dream involves the person he loves being harmed and it was too realistic, then he would obviously take it seriously,” Kreiss added and this made Veon’s hand tighten his grip on Sheloah’s hand.
The girl looked at the boy beside her. “Veon, is this true? Umm… except for the ‘person he loves’ part.”
Kreiss scoffed. “Of course, it’s true, princess! It’s been bothering him for days and—” Sheloah interrupted him and glared at him.
“I’m asking Veon for some answers! Not you!”
Kreiss suddenly went quiet.
“All of us will get hurt.” The moment Veon spoke, he let go of Sheloah’s hand and the two looked at him. “Especially Sheloah,” he said finally and they already arrived at the grocery.
Sheloah was about to ask for more questions when suddenly, Erick called for their attention and spoke quietly as he could.
“Okay, so we’ll split into groups to look for the following resources. Look at the list I’ve given you.” He handed everyone a list and they all read it. “The pharmacy is not too far from here, too.”
Sheloah looked worried once more as she remembered that they were currently doing a risky plan. Kreiss noticed this and he patted her back, comforting her.
“Don’t worry, princess. No matter what happens, I’ll be there for you,” he whispered and he looked at Veon. “And of course, Veon’s going to be there, too,” he added, making Sheloah smile.
“After this, I want to tell you something,” Kreiss said as he got a gem from his pocket. It was turned into a necklace. Sheloah grew curious but the boy just hanged the necklace on her neck.
“What’s this,” the girl asked and Kreiss smiled sweetly at her.
“Just hold on to that gem,” he said then he went inside of the grocery, leaving Sheloah in a daze.
