Army of True Salvation - Chapter 19:This is It
Their fatigue took toll of their body the moment they realized they were safe inside the shop. They all sat down on the floor as they rested for a short while. Sheloah looked at her gun and she noticed that it was already out of bullets. That was a close call.
She looked at the people with her. “Are you guys okay,” she asked and some nodded, and some gave a thumbs up.
“Let’s get the guns we need. We adults will keep watch here. Hurry it up so we can leave as quickly as possible,” Sir Jim said and the students nodded at his instruction.
They stood up and they looked around the shop. Josh and Tyler were on the other side of the shop, while Veon and Sheloah were on the opposite.
There were different kinds of guns in the shop. Military guns, machine guns, hand guns, auto-cannon guns, artillery guns, tank guns, hunting guns, rescue equipment guns, training and equipment guns… there were even fictional guns as well.
‘What are these?’
Sheloah stopped in front of the selection of guns as she held the glass. “What should we get,” she asked and Veon stood in front of the machine guns.
“Gatling guns. Seems good to me,” he answered and Sheloah approached him to take a look at it.
She shook her head. “It’s too big and heavy for us to bring,” she commented and Veon nodded.
“One of the best-known early rapid-fire weapons. But sadly, like you said, it is too big and heavy for us to bring. Too bad… maybe we’ll just use it to clear our way so we could leave the mall with ease.” Upon hearing this, Sheloah walked towards the hand gun section.
“How ’bout this revolver,” she said as she held it. “It has six chambers, meaning it holds only six bullets, right,” she added as she got a revolver for herself.
“This machine pistol is also good,” Veon said as he handed one to Sheloah. “It’s like the gun Leon used in Resident Evil,” he added and Sheloah smiled at him for being so knowledgeable.
“Let’s get a lot. Guess we also need to teach some of our classmates to combat with us,” she suggested then they took pistols and bullets to put inside their bag.
Sheloah walked to the hunting guns section and one particular gun caught her attention.
“Veon,” she called his attention and he approached her. “Look at this shot gun,” she added and the two looked at the gun in front of them admirably and got one for each of them.
Josh and Tyler got what they needed and they approached the two. They both held an AK-47 and Josh was pretty much excited.
“Guys, look! An AK-47!” Josh marveled as the two smiled at him.
“Wait, Sheloah, let’s exchange. I want the shot gun,” Tyler said and they both exchanged guns. Sheloah preferred the AK-47, anyway.
“I’ll get one for me as well,” said Veon as he went to where Josh and Tyler got the gun.
“How ’bout Sir Jim’s and my uncle’s… do they have theirs,” she asked and Tyler nodded.
“Not to worry! I gave them their guns, too,” he answered and Sheloah smiled, thanking him.
“Guys,” Sir Jim called their attention. “There are a lot of zombies outside. We need to leave,” he added and they all looked what was outside the glass door.
Veon returned to them. “There’s a gatling gun at the back that we could use,” he suggested as he was struggling to set it up. Tyler and Josh helped him and they loaded the gun as well.
Sheloah’s uncle raised his brow at him. “And do you even know how to use that,” he asked and Veon hesitantly nodded at him.
“Let’s just try,” he answered and Sheloah’s uncle chuckled slightly.
‘Kids these days… they think they know pretty much everything because of what they had indulged themselves into.’
He thought of this but still, he believed that they had potential.
“Okay. Once the door opens, you open fire,” Sheloah’s uncle said and Veon nodded once more.
“But I have one request. I have to go ahead. You guys just go to the SM’s supermarket without me,” he said and the two adults were suddenly surprised.
“You can’t go alone,” Sheloah’s uncle said and Veon shook his head, determined.
“I’m sorry, but I have to save my family. No matter what it takes,” Veon said and after a minute of silence, Sheloah’s uncle agreed.
“Fine. Use the car I brought and I’ll drive the service car,” he said as he threw the keys at Veon and he caught it successfully. “We will be responsible for bringing the resources back at school,” he added and Veon threw the service car’s keys at Sheloah’s uncle.
Sheloah looked at her uncle. “Tito… I’ll go with Veon.” What Sheloah said made the others more surprised than what Veon had suggested.
“You’re my niece, Sheloah, and I treated you like my eldest child since you have no father. You think I’ll allow you to go?”
Sheloah looked at her uncle, then back at Veon who suddenly spoke. “You’re uncle’s right. I don’t want you getting involved in my affairs, Sheloah. You’re an important friend of mine and this is my business,” Veon said and Sheloah shook her head.
‘You think you’re not important to me?’
“I can’t let you go alone. I promised you, remember?” Sheloah went towards Veon and held his hand. “I’d go with you,” she said and her uncle sighed. “Please, tito… allow me. He can’t go alone.”
Sheloah’s uncle knew that when his niece made up her mind, she won’t go back on it. Besides, he also knew that what Sheloah said was somewhat true. Veon can’t make it alone. He’ll just have no choice but to trust the two.
“Fine! But I want you two back in one piece. Safe!” Her uncle emphasized the word “safe” but Tyler suddenly laughed by what Sheloah’s uncle had said.
“Two of them in one piece,” Tyler said as he laughed and the people looked at him awkwardly, weirded out by his sudden laughing.
Josh shoved his elbow at Tyler, stopping him. “Does your humor come out during serious times,” he whispered and Tyler stopped, embarrassed.
“Sorry.” Tyler apologized and they just ignored him.
Sheloah suddenly spoke. “Thank you, tito,” she said as she quickly went to her uncle to kiss his cheek.
Sheloah’s uncle looked at Veon seriously. “You take care of Loah,” he said and Veon nodded at him.
“Opo[1],” he said and they all looked outside. There were already zombies banging their bodies on the glass door.
They all went behind Veon as he readied himself on the gatling gun. Once the door gets destroyed, he would open fire.
This is it.
