Army of True Salvation - Chapter 202:Epilogue
Eight months had passed since they arrived here in Australia. It was currently the summer season and the group decided to have a picnic.
Veon sighed. “Geof said he couldn’t come because he has a fever,” he said and Tyler rolled his eyes.
“I told him not to overwork from last night’s workout. It was late at night and he decided to swim for exercise,” Tyler said and Sheloah giggled.
“Well, we have no choice,” she said as she looked at her phone. It was already ten in the morning, and they were still waiting for Kreiss and Shannara. “They’re late,” she added.
Veon chuckled as he put his arm around Sheloah and gave her head a kiss. “Oh, you know them,” he said and Sheloah smirked.
“Didn’t expect that either,” she said and Tyler laughed.
“I never saw it coming as well!”
The three of them sat on the bench, looking at the big wall surrounding the city.
The big wall surrounding the city serves as their protection from the zombies. From time to time, the military will go outside to get some resources and to hunt down zombies.
Scientists would also request for zombies from time to time for experiments. But to no avail, they still have no clue on how it started, and what can possibly cure these creatures.
As for school, they still had a curriculum, but starting junior high, they already added a subject wherein they would be trained on how to deal with zombies.
Sheloah suddenly got a message from Shannara, making her smile. She showed them her text.
“Kreiss picked me up. We’ll be there in a few minutes,” the text message said and the two boys with her chuckled.
“And they say they’re not a couple,” Tyler commented and Veon spoke.
“Not… yet,” he said and the three of them laughed as they waited for the two to come.
—
In Shannara’s room, stood a boy in front of her, kissing her passionately. When Shannara couldn’t breathe, she put her hand on his chest, signalling him to stop.
“Enough. They’re waiting, Kreiss,” she said, her face red, and the boy smirked.
“Sorry. I haven’t seen you for a week and I missed you,” Kreiss said making the girl roll her eyes at him.
“Whatever, sweet talker,” Shannara said as she stood up from Kreiss’ lap, went in front of a mirror then tied her hair. “Isobel might be here soon. If she knew that you sneaked in our apartment, you’re dead,” she added and Kreiss scoffed.
“But you allowed me to sneak in,” he said teasingly and Shannara threw a pillow at him.
“Okay, okay…” He pulled Shannara in his arms, looked at the necklace around her neck, then smiled. “Finally. You decided to wear it, feisty-pants.”
Shannara felt embarrassed and avoided his gaze. “I’ve thought about it already, alright?”
Kreiss kissed the girl’s forehead then held her hand. “Took you three months!”
The girl rolled her eyes at him and punched his chest. “Duh! I had to make sure,” she said and Kreiss smirked.
“I told you so. Eight months ago,” he said and Shannara tried to recall what he said. “Your implication came true,” Kreiss added and Shannara laughed out loud.
“Whatever. I wasn’t implying anything! But… we did end up being together,” she said then she squinted her eyes. “I thought I’d get myself an Aussie boy,” she mumbled and Kreiss scoffed.
“I’m better than those Aussie classmates of ours,” he said then he led Shannara’s hand to his abs. “They lack training. They don’t even have these,” he added and Shannara’s face reddened.
Suddenly, the door opened abruptly, making the two part from each other in a split second. They looked at the person who opened the door, and there they saw Isobel, who came home from her duty quietly.
“I thought this is an all girl’s apartment?”
Shannara couldn’t answer. When Isobel saw the familiar necklace around Shannara’s neck, she raised a brow.
“And I thought you aren’t considering to be in a relationship yet?”
Kreiss smiled confidently. “Feisty-pants couldn’t resist me,” he said as he pulled her in his arms again, making Shannara glare at him.
“What are you doing,” she whispered coldly and Isobel sighed.
“The other’s are waiting for us. The both of you would have to be out in a minute, or else… I’ll tell the landlady there’s a man inside and I’ll keep the apartment to myself.”
The moment Isobel said this, the two suddenly dashed outside, leaving her alone. Isobel laughed as she locked their apartment and head off to where the two are.
‘They ended up fixing each other, and falling for each other at the same time…’
—
They all met up in the park and they went to the garden behind Veon’s sister’s house. They fixed up their picnic area. After fixing up their area, they walked to wear the mural was.
Everyone went silent when they saw the mural. On it were the names of the people who died in Army of True Salvation. They left some food and drinks there, then prayed for a while before they had the picnic.
‘Thank you, Army of True Salvation.’
