Army of True Salvation - Chapter 37:Many As Possible
They were already on their way to school and noticed that there were only a few zombies around that was why they prioritized their escape rather than their attack. They were just running over the zombies that were on their way going back to school.
While Veon was driving, Sheloah looked at him. “You’re serious today. Are you okay,” she asked him and Veon looked at her from the corner of his eye.
“Yes, I am. Why are you asking?”
Sheloah rested her back on her seat while she looked blankly outside her window. “Nothing. You’re more quiet than usual. But now that it’s an emergency, I understand why you’re silent,” she said and Veon didn’t say a word as he was just continuing his drive.
“You miss it as well, don’t you? The times when we fooled around back at school before the zombie apocalypse. We were all so happy go lucky back then,” Veon said and Sheloah showed a sad smile, agreeing to what he said.
She looked at the time and saw that it was already 7:21 in the evening. They were already on their way to school and once they arrive, they will rest to prepare for the training the following day. They would also execute the plan of escaping from school as a class. Everyone would be involved then.
Only the class of 4A survived, and only some of the teachers and parents. They knew they only got a little knowledge from the training a while ago, but this was better than nothing.
Sheloah sighed heavily again as she looked at what was in front of her. She held her hair and played with its end as she thought about the plans that they were going to execute tomorrow.
She believed that 4A could pull this plan off. They will all change for the better and they would have to cooperate as a group to make this work. They still had dreams despite this situation and they know that the common goal that they have now is to fight their way out together for survival.
They were already at their school’s gate when they noticed that the zombies seemed too active tonight. They parked the vehicles in the playground and they slowly went out, trying their best not to attract zombies. It’s especially crucial during the night because of them being active, they might’ve been too cautious of their surroundings.
But the moment they closed the doors of their vehicles, they alerted some zombies.
The group went closer together, with Isobel in the middle, to protect her. She didn’t have any weapon so it was in their instinct to protect their medic.
Some were already shooting the zombies near them and Josh and Tyler attacked using their spear. They noticed that as the battle dragged on, they were attracting more and more zombies so it meant that attacking was not a good thing and they would now have to prioritize their escape.
Veon went near Sheloah. “Tsk, now what? They’re doubling,” he said as they stopped shooting zombies for the meantime.
“We can’t stay here for too long. If we do, one of us would get harmed,” Sheloah said and they all gathered as one group again to think of a plan.
“I will go ahead with Sir Erick, Edward, Kenneth, and Isobel. We will wait for you at the rooftop,” Sir Jim suggested and they nodded at him.
Sheloah’s uncle looked at his niece. “I will go with them. I know you guys can do it. Just hurry it up. We will try to clear up the path for you so you could easily go to the rooftop. We’ll be decoys,” he said and Sheloah nodded at them as they left.
Sheloah, Veon, Tyler, and Josh went back to killing zombies. By this point, they were already tired but they had no choice. If they stop now, they will be part of the undead army.
“We need to kill zombies as many as possible. Most of them come from here. If they go through us, they will catch up with the other group,” Tyler said while they were attacking zombies.
“It was a good thing that we’re together. If not, I don’t know if we could handle this alone,” Josh said and they all agreed silently.
When they noticed that there were only a few zombies far from them, they took the chance to catch their breaths before they ran going towards the rooftop where their classmates were staying. Sheloah noticed that as she ran, her body was already aching.
Especially her bottom, when Veon accidently dropped her on the floor.
